RSVP question!
I've gotten the RSVP 3 or 4 times and I always got a "crown unlocked" notification.. but every time I died before the exit gate or hatch opened?? I'm so confused...

I don't know what RSVP means, but for the event, if you interact with an invitation during the match as a Survivor, you have to do it before the exit gates are opened or before the hatch is closed.
But you need to be alive when the exit gates are opened or the hatch is closed.

As far as I can tell, you unlock the mask as long as you interact with the podium. I've died well before endgame on several occasions and still unlocked something.

You don't have to survive the trial to earn the masks. As soon as you unlock the RSVP totem, you get the mask.

Not really. You have to survive until the gates are opened or the hatch is closed. Then, if you die, it's OK. Or I had a massive bug.

If it's giving you the reward (as survivor) before the hatch opens or gates are opened.. then something's off and probably bugged. But there have also been plenty of times where people didn't receive a reward after the gates were opened/hatch opened so it's buggy in general I guess

That is incorrect. The mask is only earned for Survivor if they survive to a exit being opened, or hatch being closed activating EGC. Killers only need to collect the invitation to earn the cosmetic.

RSVP is an acronym that stands for a French phrase which translates to “respond, if you please”. It’s usually accompanied with an invitation so the receiver can confirm whether or not they will be attending the event.

Apocryphal! You may want to do some fact-checking on that. I now have 10 of 12 masks and half were earned in matches where I died on the hook early on. The totems are similar to the green glyphs in that once you unlock them, you have earned the achievement. It would be a disaster if you had to survive the trial until all 5 gens were completed and the gates opened.

The devs literally said how it works multiple times in the forums and it is by opening the exit gates after gathering an invitation or by the hatch. Any other way is a bug/glitch that wasn't supposed to happen on the survivor side.
Killers can just get it by playing the game normally as long as they touch the invite
I'm stuck on 11/12 masks currently and have been trying to get the last one but still have yet to gain

Does that mean I have to give back the masks I received from the glitch? I hope not.

Thx everyone! Online it said I had to get to the exit gate or hatch opening but in game I got the crown received message even if I died early. Idk if I actually got the masks, I'm assuming I have bad luck and got them on characters I haven't unlocked yet...
