Nono i dont want free win. But when all gens are done . Make it that hatch doesnt spawn. And if gates are not open in 5 minutes END GAME. Is that fair? I think so.

Where is "free" part when killer killed all three survivors?
That's like "remove the hatch while giving killer hatch equivalent", doesn't makes sense at all.
Literally everywhere, hatch escape doesn't counts as hook or kill, thus everything that needs merciless/4k will count it as lose.

Because he didn't kill the last one yet, the killer has only killed 3 out of 4 survivors. But you want to make it so 3 kills guarantees the 4th is killed too.
That's a FREE WIN.
That's exactly the same scenario as repairing all 5 gens guarantees an escape.
Which is why the hatch is a fair mechanic. Either the survivor or the killer can get there first, and either leave through it or close it. It's entirely fair game. Consider it a 'sudden death' mechanic.

When there is only two survivor left, killer has all the advantage he needs, hell, if that killer is determined enough, he can even carry third survivor on his shoulder to prevent bleed out or actually revive survivor by multi-dropping.
You are even understanding how hatches are pity escape, yet somehow will not accept 3k as win for killers, that also doesn't makes sense.
Also if it's sudden death, it just doesn't makes sense when it happens RIGHT WHEN survivors got almost guaranteed to lose.
It's pretty much like basekit NOED with instant mori.

What are you talking about? I do accept 3k as a win for the killer. I accept it as already a win for the killer, regardless of whether I kill the 4th or not.
I do not accept that a 3k should guarantee a 4k.
Otherwise, why not have 4 gens guarantee a 5th?

So that means that merciless isn't considered a good metric for a win/loss because that changes from rank to rank. :P
So where does it say that a hatch escape is a loss? Show me.

3k is NOT a win in anywhere in the game, doesn't matter how you think.
I'm stating fixing either one can work, but in current game that "bad metric" is used anywhere.
Thus "literally everywhere", when game is actually using merciless as metric, you can't deny it.

Tbh, I think hatches should be allowed to spawn when all gens are done (and there is last survivor left) though, like it doesn't matter for 99% of times.

That bad metric is not used for anything related to player ranking anymore specifically because it is a bad metric for determining player skill.

When game require you to get best score in "bad metric" for the sake of achievement/challenge, and survivor counterpart of that is "escape", it's crystal clear that the dev meant "win".

I wouldn't be too keen on the 4k anyway, as it will just raise your MMR and lead to more sweaty games, which isn't that preferable all the time. This is why I most of the time give the last survivor the hatch or let them try for "Left 4 Dead" achievment if they want to... unless they were obnoxious players, but I can live with that.

Not really, if we think from how current game is, it's clear they thought emblem can not be used for matchmaking purpose but still working as common "win condition" for most challenges and achievement.

Hell, I don't even need to care about whether it's "winning" or "losing", it's just that the whole point of hatches are to stop killers from getting all those things that require 4k.

We already know that achievements cannot be changed once they are set up unless a change in the game literally renders them impossible. So the fact that they are what they currently are means little because the devs are unable to change the parameters despite having a change in opinion over the relevance of a "Merciless Killer" with regards to the results of a match.

Actually I agree, they should remove hatch when all 5 gens are powered and there is only one Survivor left, this way I can inmerse myself until the Killers get bored and open the gate themselves, this way I can guarantee my escape since I would just need to run towards the opened gate without having to risky myself for 20 seconds.

It is not bad design. The last survivor earned that by finishing the last gen. If you want to avoid that, you have to kill the survivors faster, simple as that!
