Game Crashing after Start Up Trailer Preventing Me from Taking Part in the Anniversary Event

So I want to play the game and unlock the cosmetics and rewards for the anniversary event, but I cannot even get into the game now because of crashing. I start the game up and it goes fine, that is until after the Roots of Dread trailer plays. Following the trailer, the screen goes black and then an error pop up screen appears saying the game has crashed. I have tried several potential solutions that I could think of and even followed the advice of someone in a forums post about the same issue that is occurring for others, but nothing seems to be working.


I have been having this issue since the update with the Roots of Dredge chapter release. I’m hoping a solution is on the way very soon because if not I won’t even get the chance to play during the anniversary event. It’s a bummer that something like this has to be occurring during a major DBD event and it seems the devs are paying little to no attention to this issue that is affecting some players.


If anyone has a solution that they would like to share that would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I’ll try occasionally to see if I can get into the game but honestly this is ruining my motivation to even want to play the game at all.

    Do you overclock your graphics card at all, using tools like MSI Afterburner? When i had an overclock the game used to crash for me until i went back to stock settings, even though none of my other games had issues, just DbD.

    If you're on steam have you tried lauching steam as an adriminstrator and starting DBD directly from the library? i used to have this problem and it fixed it. Otherwise you should look at your computer overheating or something like that.
