The irony of the switch to the new prestige model.

When I've started to play the game, a few years ago now, it was evident the prestige mechanism was mostly worthless. There was no measurable benefit in the web and I never really cared about skins.

My first prestige 3 was Claudette. I'm guessing most of you know why.

Several months later I've done the same for Pyramidhead. I wanted to have some balance in the prestige of both sides.

When the announce was made about the change, all my most used killers had accumulated hundreds of addons. I couldn't imagine any reward that could be worth wasting all that so instead I've started to P3 the killers I don't play or don't like.

The result is that when the change happens, the only "rewarded" killers I'll have are the ones I don't play and/or am bad with.

The ones I play the most and really enjoy will look like "noobs". A "noob" Nurse with a stock of several hundreds of rechange/range add-ons and more than 21000 blink attacks registered.

I find that kind of ironic. 😏

I don't understand. Not prestiging doesn't mean you're a bad player. If people use thz "you're prestige 78363 so you're a god"... Well.

how does this even works? i never spent any blood points on prestige. I just see no reason. It had no impact on game as far as i know.

Obviously. That's not my point though.

But not that you mention it, how much do you want to bet survivors will tease about winning against killer with the prestige reward but who sucks at it? ;)

Not that it matters. Again, it's just the end result being kind of the opposite of what one may expect that I find funny.

You shouldn't care. I will never p3 my killers. Just some survs. Killers are not skins and add ons are precious.

Exactly right, except for skins. And for a P3 Claudette the skin was so stealthy that for years "Kill P3 Claudette on sight" was the general feeling among killers.

But when they'll change the prestige they'll give some kind of reward for the characters that have been P3ed. Basically, the ones players didn't care losing addons or perks for as they didn't really played or invested in them.

It's not about caring. (Has the word "irony" a different meaning that what I expect in English?)

I understand completely what you mean. What's great is that the catch up mechanic will give prestige levels in consideration of what you have put in to them.

For reference, I have a few Legacy Prestiges and that's it - I've never prestiged since and none of my killers are prestiged. But I have every perk in the game unlocked for all characters and loads of items and addons etc (I am a hoarder). I never prestiged because I didn't want to lose my stuff and I focused mostly on collecting things and perks etc. So for sure, I'll look like a noob when I play certain characters if people judge on things like that...but that belays my hours (4k or so) and the sheer amount of stuff I have collected.

Well you cared enough to make a thread about it. And you said this.

"The ones I play the most and really enjoy will look like "noobs". A "noob" Nurse with a stock of several hundreds of rechange/range add-ons and more than 21000 blink attacks registered."

To me, it seems like you kinda care about some clueless people seeing you as "noob".

I know what irony is btw.

Oh, good to know. Will not look as backward as I was expecting then. (I guess I'm a hoarder too ^_^)

on that I'm not sure...for definite the perk levels you have are going to be taken into consideration.

I guess it's about what one find humorous. I obviously do not care about what a stranger may thing. (I never did much really, even as a child, and one cares even less as he ages. As someone whose first TV was in black and white, I'm way past that ;) )

I wasn't doubting your understanding of the word. I was doubting mine. As an example, I've recently understood the word "bully" was way stronger in English that what I perceived. I thought it was a synonym of "tease". We live and learn.

I'm also in a very similar boat - prior to the anniversary, the only Prestige 3 I had was Dwight (legacy even, my original lad) Freddy and Nemesis.

Other than that, I'd unlocked every single perk on every other killer and a chunk of my survivors without engaging with the prestige system because it didn't feel worth it to me (at the time). I was worried about it until they announced the catch up mechanic, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll now be once the update goes live.

Additionally - I'm glad now that prestiging characters to P3 will have some beneficial effect that'll make me want to engage with it beyond the bloody clothing.

That said, I think if people start judging people based on the amount of prestige levels they have based on skill, that's on them rather than yourself. At the end of the day you can pour millions of bloodpoints into a killer without ever actually playing them - so it shouldn't ever really be a reflection of skill - more just a reflection of a character you really like (in theory) playing.....or feeding with lots of bloodpoints.

EDIT: I should add there are likely also going to be people who P3 a killer/survivor purely just for their teachables being available to other characters yet aren't a fan of playing that character in general.

English is not my first language either so no worries.
