DH lets survivors play extremely greedy at loops
This is an aspect of Dead Hard that isn't often mentioned, but as a side effect of gaining free distance and invulnerability to guarantee that they reach windows and pallets, it also lets survivors play far more greedy at loops. Any time you're barely close enough to gain the distance needed for a hit, and the survivor can choose between greeding and dropping, they can now greed, knowing full and well that if you disrespect they can just DH and it was a winning move anyway. And if you do respect, they can just keep running.
Or they can predrop and save the DH for when they need it to reach another resource and extend the chase.
I know I know, DH thread #351235. I'm just tired of it. Good thing we'll get info on perk reworks this week.

People always talk about being able to "reach something they otherwise wouldn't", but people fail to mention that when running a basic tile with an undropped pallet, you have so much more room to greed, and extend the chase.

I think that's a pretty well acknowledged complaint with the perk, hence the whole "dead hard for distance" reference.
It's not so much that the survivors make a mistake and then Dead Hard for distance, but they know they have that ability so can get an extra loop in.

I truly want to see these survivors that want to waste their dead hard for an extra 3 seconds of looping, instead of dropping the pallet earlier and saving the dead hard for later, when it could potentially extend the chase for much longer than 3 seconds.
Your story is absolutely not my experience at all. I get survivors that dead hard towards my rushing Blight, which might as well be an automatic 3rd health state most of the time. I get survivors that wait until my Nurse blinks directly on top of them before they dead hard. I get survivors that run from one tile to another, and use dead hard if they need the extra distance to reach the next tile. I get survivors that dead hard when they misplay a loop.
I also get a lot of survivors that can magically dead hard my lunge attacks, even when they are looking forwards. Since BHVR is aware of the dead hard hack, I’m hoping the rework will be something that isn’t hacked so easily.

I don't know why I keep seeing complaints about dead hard when we all know theres a rework happening for it.

what is the dead hard hack?

I hear that, survivors deadhard after making mistakes all the time, if not you not playing good teams.

Because the rework might be a buff.

Some people have a cheat specifically for DH only
It makes it so they can DH perfectly 100% of the time, auto-DH basically
Some people are just patient/lucky though so not every super clutch DH is an auto DH

Unlikely since they're looking to change the meta.

Prediction.
Removing e for distance and tacking it onto a successful miss with the i frames. If you swing and they E they get a sprint burst. If they E and you don't swing then they just run for a bit before becoming vulnerable.

I am putting together some clips showing me have to outplay survs 3 times for a down.
You outplay them first time to get the injure, now they have DH,... then you outplay them a second time (for example L-T wall) they deadhard the outplay, get the window again, outplay them on the loop a third time for the down.
This is very common when facing good survs who use deadhard to specifically nullify an outplay by hitting E.

Ironically a survivor is at their strongest when injured.
Iron Will prevents breathing sounds alongside injured sounds.
Dead Hard and the Styptic Agent
Resilience maybe?

bro, there is already a rework on the way. Move on

Many people would have said the same thing before they "fixed" nurse not too long ago, but essentially buffed her.
The devs have no interest in game balance.

The rework is exactly what i said. it is still a problematic perk.

Yeah pretty damn frustrated when I saw the perk. If a window is within 1 second of a window, which is very very common, it's exactly the same. You can't grab them, you can't hit them cause they'll be enduranced even in the animation. Against undropped pallets it's essentially the same too. If there's no tell that someone's actually using it, it may even be more frustrating than before.
Another nasty thing about this new DH is that autoDH will still work. If that doesn't tell you that the rework is bad I don't know what does. In fact new DH may even give more distance than old DH. I guess we'll have to wait for PTB to find out but I personally hate it. Maybe, just maybe if they add an animation or a very clear tell that it's active. Not a fan of this. Or the BT change, but that's another story.
