So what were your thoughts on the quarry?
Haven't had a chance to play it myself

My thoughts were "well that's twice the price of all their other games that are basically the same thing, guess I'll wait for a sale."

I liked Until Dawn so I'll probably buy this game once the price goes down but 70 euros is way too expensive imo, these types of games should be no more than 40 euros.
I watched some reviews and so far the game looks decent I'll have a proper opinion once I get my hands on it.

70 dollars is stupid in my opinion for this game because the online coop is a downgrade from the previous games. online coop was my favorite part about the previous games and it's basically reduced to online movie mode. i understand why they made it like this (there are way too many independent character stories to make it work well) but regardless i was hoping to play it with my friend who has never played a supermassive game like this before but we decided not after learning they changed the coop to this system.
as for the game itself, although i've never played it, it looks like the best one this company did so far, even better than until dawn tbh. ppl say the characters are unlikeable but honestly i like the spicy attitudes. everyone are different than each other and i'm sure most people who still have some teenager spirit in them will like at least 1 of the characters. it's clearly not a game to be taken very seriously anyways (who the ######### adds in a line "them's the rules ya noob")

I was gonna buy it but it's base price in Canada is 79 dollars and with tax that's 89 dollars

not worth $70 to me, im waiting till it hits a big sale at about $20 bucks since the first playthrough is all that matters really.
I just look up alternate endings if i dont find the game that compelling or interesting & these games are typically like that, still enjoy them though.

I absolutely loved Until Dawn so I was buzzing about The Quarry, that is, until I saw the price of it, no way I can justify spending that kind of money on a game with limited re-playability.
Like everyone else has said, I'll wait for the price to come down

I loved Until Dawn, but I'm waiting for the price to come down before trying The Quarry out. 70$ is WAY too much for a game, especially one with limited re-playability.

it looks overpriced and boring

I was actually very very dissappointed. I have tried other games like the Man of Medan series, and the Until Dawn games that are very similiar, and this game was very slow paced. Like, me and my bff split the characters and played. On their turn, I kept finding myself wanting to scroll facebook or something. It wasn't very fun to watch. Just veeeery slow paced. It was also focused on very young adults who did a LOT of talking. We didn't finish the game completely yet.

Great game, i just wish the story branched more than it actually does.

Did you play Until Dawn, Man of Medan, or whatever the other two are called? My assumption looking at this game is that it would be very similar to all of them but then if that would be the case, why wouldn't this game be part of the The Dark Pictures Anthology with Man of Medan and whatnot...
Like many here I imagine, I loved Until Dawn and Man of Medan (I have yet to play the other two, probably why I don't remember their names but I do intend to get them even though I heard the second of the three was meh) so just to get perspective on your score, what did you think of them (assuming you played them)

The quarry has a higher budget and is more of importance?
After all it has 2k attached to it

So, have first watched 2 Until Dawn lets plays (haven’t seen it before) and now watched a Hacketts Quarry let’s play.
i do like both games, the characters and the overall stories. Though I kinda like Until Dawn more as it felt more climactic and every character had a time to shine (even though screentime was still dissimilar). In the Quarry -at least the lets play I watched- some characters felt like they were completely forgotten? Also there wasn’t a ‚common‘ end like in the cabin in Until Dawn. Though this might be due to a significant and stupid choice of the let’s player.
though i played with the thought of buying the game but finally decided against it as the replayability doesn’t seem too great despite the many different possible endings. Am watching some other playthrough(s) though.

It's good, it's fun, but it's not as good as Until Dawn. The characters are mostly... unlikeable, tbh. Like in Until Dawn I really hated Chris and Ashley but even then I wanted to save them- in The Quarry the only three characters I'm anywhere motivated to save are Ryan, Dylan, and Kaitlyn (and Abi, Emma, and Laura were on the "I'll try but don't really care" list).
It's worth playing, it's not worth full price. I'd suggest waiting for a sale. It only cost me ~£38 when I got it, as opposed to the £60 I'd pay full-price, so I'm happy with the purchase. I wouldn't pay more than £40 for it, though.

Chris and Ashley were great characters because they had faulty traits that made it easy to ‚hate‘ them imo.
everyone on Quarry felt more one-dimensional and their characters could all almost be summed up in one to two sentences? If that makes sense..

Well Dark Pictures had some reoccuring characters/actors and themes, like curses and stuff. I actually really liked Little Hope, and I really like the third one in the series, just can't remember it's name.
Quarry just felt like another werewolf/teens series throne in for the heck of it, and there wasn't very much mystery to it. I figured out the hunters/werewolves before it barely began. It felt really really predictable to me.

Never heard of. But we do need something to play while waiting for BOTW 2 and GTA VI.

House of Ashes is the one you're thinking of- definitely my favourite one in the series by a mile (then Little Hope, then Man of Medan sitting sadly at the very bottom).
Hoping the fourth one- The Devil In Me (releasing later this year) is good, especially since it's the Season Finale so I assume they'll take a break before continuing onto games 5-8. And who knows, maybe Bandai Namco will agree to publish a further 4 if they keep doing well.

I have hopes for it, I think we are supposed to be figuring out a serial killer or something of the like? It will be interesting. =)

I have mixed feelings about "The Quarry", overall I did enjoy playing it and I don't regret the purchase (60€). I did one solo playthrough and then one playthrough with 8 players via discord stream, where I controlled the characters and everyone on discord had their own character they made the decisions for and directed me around - that was super fun and a good way to play the game right away without having to wait for the delayed online-multiplayer. The story is alright and it's a fun interactive horror movie.
There are several downsides:
-Even though the graphics are good overall, there are a lot of glitches and the water splash effect is just terrible
-Some performance issues with the 2k launcher, I had to manually disable launching with it active to fix it
-Slow pacing and not evenly split screen time for the characters which is annoying in multiplayer
-Some weird dialogue or action choices/unlikeable characters
-German translation/voice actor quality and casting are just bad, definitely play in English
-100+ endings promise is misleading... there is still replayability value but don't expect too much
So yeah, probably wait for a sale if you are not a super-fan.
