Who do you think will be the next character for LGBT representation?

My money is on them introducing a new survivor entirely, though if I had to pick one of the existing ones, I think Claudette, Yui, Jake, or Mikaela are the most likely to be selected.

for the very short answer: representation equals normalisation, particularly in more hostile areas. normalisation equals acceptance within contemporary society. acceptance equals less discrimination, both on a personal and statutory level, and less discrimination is a good thing.

Exactly.

Wow. That’s a pretty ignorant view, you realize it’s not only about your own personal opinion even though you might be part of a „discriminated minority“?
also even if you say you don’t need it - it’s a fact that representation in media matters and can make it better for minorities in a society. You still benefit from it even if you are asking for it.
and this has nothing to do with imagination at all. Head-canons are a completely different topic.
7 -
It may not be important to you, but please have an open mind for people who do care about it. It’s not all about you.

It's for the money anyway... these companies don't do it for good, it's because they make money with you feeling represented.. pretty cheap and malicious =/
1 -
You seem to be confusing representation with rainbow capitalism.
7 -
for me that's pretty much the same if its about something you have to buy aka a DLC character

David King, from a chapter famously free:
7 -
yes but this thread is not about him, its about adding extra DLC characters

I knew about Nurse having a husband but I don't focus on that too much tbh.

A lot of the comments here talk about original characters, or free characters. Original characters can be gotten through playtime, which I know a lot of people actually do, and free characters are, well... free. Rainbow capitalism involves exploiting LGBT+ people for a month and then never again. BHVR have shown, through the testimonies available online, at least, that they are more than just exploiting LGBT+ people during June and actually cultivate an inclusive work environment, donate to charities outside of specific pride-related goals, also help donate to charities during pride (which, you know, costs them money) and overall are just a decent company in comparison to most other ones. Which isn't saying a lot, because all companies are awful, but they're better than most.
Rainbow capitalism is awful. Representing characters through media available for free is not rainbow capitalism, unless you'd take the view that having LGBT+ people within TV shows is rainbow capitalism because you have to pay for access to the show. I really don't think they're the same.

Every single character in DBD is LGBT+, unless explicitly confirmed otherwise. 😎
2 -
lol and we already got the proof that people would complain if a new character was revealed to be LGBTQ+.
but you are forgetting that a new character is pretty much never marketed because of lore but mainly because of perks and appearance… it’s just some flavor text to expand the in-game lore and make it more natural and diverse.
2 -
Indeed I think despite of the importance of LGTBI+ visibility if the game is a mess its not helping those groups.
2 -
I think nea

I’m not basing it off just new DLC characters. It’s still possible to confirm an existing character’s sexuality if it has been teased.

This, soooooo much this, I don't care who is gay lesbian all that stuff, as long as it's written well, and not just "GUYS LOOK [insert survivor here] IS [insert sexuality here]
4 -
to be fair, we already have Sadako being intersex....

nah nah nah, cause we both know you would keep your mouth shut if it was a straight character with a opposite gender partner, let people enjoy their rep and move on. Lgbt exist, and exist for more then making money, and I am so tired of people like you trying to use any excuse to diminish any representation I, and we as Lgbt+ people get. every thread that brings up LGBT+ has people like you trying to diminish any rep we get. We exist, DBD cares about us and we deserve rep. Get over it.
3 -
What, is there not allowed to be anymore straight characters anymore, not trying to come off rude but the way your comment sounded to me, it sounded like you wanted everyone converted to ...queerism? Lol
3 -
Hopefully a brand new character. There is a certain appeal to not knowing (or caring) what a character's sexual orientation is and just leaving it open to interpretation.
2 -
I hope it's not more gays/lesbian, those are already over represented in media. I hope they add a trans character, but don't make that character just about that.
2 -
Thats a good idea maybe a Drag queen character?
1 -
No. Trans people arent drag queens. Dont compare it.
3 -
Im not comparing it Im talking to add a drag queen character.Of course are different.
1 -
Trixie Mattel in DBD Please
0 -
please dont put politics in the game
2 -
Yea but where is the D in LGBT for drag queens? being a drag queen doesnt make you LGBT.
2 -
@GoodBoyKaru check that off.
9 -
How is being gay/lesbian/trans politics? Is being straight politics?
10 -
you are already political
2 -
Average under 10 posts user.
7 -
there's a +

just ignore him tbh
7 -
Done
4 -
look at what politics has done to you
3 -
So? Mind telling me what's included in that? Is a straight cis man doing drag LGBT+? No
1 -
Gay people existing isn't inherently political it's only political if you make it political.
And if you make it political then we know exactly who you are.
Issues of protecting human rights are not political. There may be an overlap but they are not political.
6 -
You just need to go to wikipedia to see why Drag queen are part of lgbt
0 -
"Issues of protecting human rights" is political
2 -
you are literally just trying to make a argument here for the sake of it.
9 -
A cis straight man isnt LGBT, idc if they do drag.
2 -
If you wish to be wrong it's your choice, not mine.
1 -
drag is lgbt culture, that much is true, but a straight man, identifying as such, would not be part of the LGBT+. The whole concept is the title refers to non-straight or binary.
4 -
I'm not wrong, Cis straight people arent LGBT.
I'm tired of having people like you advocating for cis straight people and silencing actual LGBT+ people just because you want to be included so bad.
Trans people like myself, specially trans men have barely any representation in media and here you are trying to "educate" me on why a straight cis man who does drag for a show needs to be heard and included LOL no thanks
3 -
Not quite, try again !!
Like I said, quite a bit of overlap but they're 2 distinct concepts and should be treated as such, you're so close though !!
7 -
i doubt that this will be the main though of the dbd playerbase rn... honestly there are more important things to focus
3 -
Then get to wikpedia to see how much they contributed for the lgbt community.

did you not read what i and marigola just said? your ignorance is staggering.
