Who do you think will be the next character for LGBT representation?
Comments
-
You mean gaybi/trans men doing drag? sure. straight cis people doing drag? no.
4 -
Its important to us lgbt, try and use a more original reason to downplay the representation next time.
also Karu is that another bingo point?
3 -
it's not because it don't fit the way you see the lgbt community that they don't belong in it, the way you discriminate them is clearly the same people discriminate lgbt people.
1 -
and i realise im being harsh here but im so over us being treated like this here.
7 -
yui or zarina, I think.
oh, also, fingers crossed for canonically gender non-conforming Nea.
1 -
google has my back
cant belive i had to google this
2 -
is... is this person for real right now...?
5 -
no i think we've already had "why does it matter" earlier in the thread and i wasn't anticipating a debate about drag showing up
5 -
I'm sure being a straight cisgender man who dresses like a woman for a show and then goes home to his girlfriend is very discriminated against. Boo hoo
4 -
didn't start arguing
3 -
you literally started the political argument here newbie
8 -
To quote Professor Laura Valentini, who has a PHD in Political Philosophy
"Philosophical discussion of human rights has long been monopolised by what might be called the ‘natural-law view’. On this view, human rights are fundamental moral rights which people enjoy solely by virtue of their humanity. In recent years, a number of theorists have started to question the validity of this outlook, advocating instead what they call a ‘political’ view."
I argue that it makes sense to think of human rights as political in relation to both their iudicandum and their justification but in a way that is not always adequately captured by proponents of the political view. Moreover, I also claim that, if we take the political view seriously, we still need to engage in the sort of abstract moral reasoning that characterises the natural-law approach and which proponents of the political view significantly downplay."
So, like I said; overlap, but they aren't inherently political, and only in recent years have they begun to be seen that way.

Yeah he surely don't get discriminated because of this.
keep living in your bubble where you're the only one having problems I guess
0 -
maddy morphosis is crying right now, you guys
0 -
I don't get it, it's a hobby/lifestyle choice right?
I don't get why people are asking for that (drag) in the game, any idea?
2 -
you mean that you consider the game balanced with all the bullshit stuff that we must endure both as killer and survivor? good for you then... this is my personal opinion and as i said before this is what i consider more important right now... the health of the game itself which actually isn't good at all... good try but if you want to start flaming me for my opinions about what's actually important you should find someone else (you can disagree with me, but this isn't a good reason to lack of respect to another member of the dbd community)...
3 -
you do realise the lore and game dev teams are separate right?
3 -
Well because they're part of the lgbt community, so they could at least get some attention too.
0 -
I dont get it either, You can choose to go to a show and do drag but you cant choose to be lesbian, gay, trans, queer.
It's sad that this is the second time I have to have this kind of conversation. Just the other day on here was someone arguing how straight cis crossdressers are LGBT. I'm done LOL
5 -
the first amendment is a human right and its political
7 -
anyway
15 -
you mean that you consider the game balanced with all the bullshit stuff that we must endure both as killer and survivor?
I didn't say that and the game is in a poor state but the lore team is separate afaik and rep is important.
3 -
the first amendment codifies the right to free speech into law, making it political. wasn't before the fist amendment made it so, though; that's literally the point. overlap, not identical.
youre trying so hard and it just isnt working.
7 -
They are a troll, they have to be, lets ignore them and calm

Except, they're not. Allies are not part of the acronym (the A stands for Aromantic/Asexual). CisHet people can do drag, that's fine, and in doing so they have helped the LGBT+ community quite a bit, but they are not part of the community for they are not part of the acronym. They're allies, yes, but they are not discriminated upon because of their sexuality or gender identity.
Drag is optional. LGBT+ existence is not. And while I'm sure everyone appreciates their contribution, it's important to recognise that there is an overlap but they are not the same.

Thank you! 💜

I sincerely think you should stop doing what you’re doing if you don’t want to immediately ruin your reputation as a new forum member.
11 -
i think it's too late for that one
5 -
yes, but you also should consider that they can decide where to put more money... and considering how slow bhvr is regarding reworking perks/maps/offerings/etc etc... they are putting more efforts into cosmetics and lore than proper game balance (you can earn money with skins, but you can't regarding balance)
1 -
I'm hoping for a new LGBTQ+ character instead :)
1 -
"We both know"... you are making things a little easy for yourself here 😂
"People like me" have we met?
just because I am thinking differently about something, you are assuming a lot...you know nothing ;)
0 -
A new character.
2 -
It may not matter to you, but to many other people it matters immensely.
4 -
I know and I'm okay with that, as long as people also respect my opinion.
2 -
Well, you also need to think about how before the first amendment, free speech had no guarantee, politics changed that. The problem with arguing that protecting human rights is that you'll need political change somewhere among the line. Exceptions are rare. Politics. More inevitable than death at this point. The LGBT+ movement is obviously going to have some political goals, it needs to if it wants any change to the law.
Look at the first word of Article 19 of UDHR. Everyone. So basically, LGBT, Straight, African, American, European, Asian. Everyone. The politics do not smile upon you.
Also, let's be real here Human rights are likely expunged from the likeness of politics so my first paragraph is just unnecessary filler space because I'm the kind of guy to make a rant and then immediately realize I'm wrong after pressing post.

On the Drag topic, they kinda are part of the LGBTQ+ (please acknowledge there is a plus; no one says that drag is the same as trans or anything like that)
drag is directly tied to gay/queer culture both historically and in the present anyways
1 -
I’ve heard of the term before but I never knew who drag queens and kings really were. Reading that informed me more about it, so thanks for sharing. I’d say they’re definitely a valid part of LGBT+.
2 -
I wouldn't be so quick to say that. Drag doesn't have a good track record when it comes to stopping with adults, per se.
2 -
Don't say that too loud, people will say that you're trolling...
0 -
What?
i genuinely don’t get what you are saying here?
1 -
Children dressing in revealing clothing and dancing for fully grown adults. That's what I'm talking about.
1 -
ugh. I see. Can we all agree that THATs not drag performance and is just disgusting please?
4 -
So you're implying that, because some people did this, everyone in the drag community is the same and agree to it ?

I've long been baffled by this. When I grew up, I read comics and found great inspiration in many figures. I associated myself heavily with the character Storm in the X Men. She was of strong mind, spirit and dedication to ideals I held dear. If asked who best represented me, it was her. Thing is, I'm not a black woman from Egypt.
Representation in today's culture is highly unrealistic. The percentages are way off and the people clamoring for it seem to have an unhealthy need to only associate with their race, gender or sexuality. That is a very unhealthy lack of self appreciation, imagination and self worth.
Nobody can jave a healthy self image if they require a video game character to be the same physical representative of themselves in order to enjoy the game. It's make believe........either pretend or go play a less imaginative game like checkers.

i think they are referring to this that happened a few weeks back, and a lot of homophobes and trash people tried to spin it into something bad.
0 -
Hmmm I see...
didn't knew about that one, thanks for sharing
1 -
But they are diverting potential resources for the design team though. This is not a great argument.

TFW cishets have to see a piece of media that isn’t 100% cishet:
Have you tried getting over it? There doesn’t need to be a reason to have representation. People EXIST. Lazy representation is still representation. All representation is good representation except bad representation. Because it is still more representation. It literally does not matter what percent of a game’s characters are LGBT+ compared to real life. Get the hell over it and stop projecting your own insecurities. They don’t require anything. It HELPS normalization, which is something that’s being done literally because of people like you. LMAO

chill out, no need to be so aggresive.
