DC Penalty needs to go

There's fundamentally no way to tell if a d/c was intentional (rage quit) or an accident such as the internet going out. Because people can always turn their router off.

In situations where you have the internet go out beyond your own control, a 5 minute penalty is short enough that you can get your internet fix and be able to queue up into a new game. If you keep having internet issues and get a higher penalty than you need to look into the issue on your end as it's not good for you to go into games knowing you have a high chance to disconnect.

If you wanted out of those matches, then let go on hook. It's just as frowned upon as DCing, but if you're wanting to get out then you won't get a temp ban for it. I think the DC penalty is fine as is

"I'm not replying to any further comments under this thread because I truly don't think that most of you took the time to read why I DCed. Some people seem to get it and I'm not a fan of matches where someone DC's but context does matter."

    Nah.

I've looked at all the comments, people are being more than kind to you trying to justify it.

It's irrelevant why you left the game early. No context needed.

If you leave early, you get a penalty. The end.

That's the way the game is designed and programmed. If you choose to keep playing, you play under those circumstances. If you don't like them, you can go and play another game.

I'd actually like to see penalties for people intentionally leaving the game early to be increased.

Some survivors think they are accomplishing something by denying the killer a hook.

can't wait for this game final die someday.

people who play this game,DC is bad should be not done but there just some matches you rather take the 5 min then play

btw DC ruin the game for 4 other people but really killer I'm should doesn't care and it ruins the match for the 3 others because they don't have another meat shield help them win the match, because unless your in swf group the other 3 survivors don't give a dam about you.(normally)

(I'm Solo) funny I'm type that always goes back for the safe unhook or trade hook, which don't happen when I'm on the hook.

Sore loser is you are leaving the match cause you don't like how it is going.

Well if you would have died in 2-3 minutes and played it out still beats waiting 5 minutes in time out for being a baby so i dont see the problem here just don't d/c.

Easy answer to all of this, have you tried just letting the match end instead? You will still get a little bit of BP and will buy your team some valuable time to work on gens, even if its not alot

My first thought after reading that. I was like what?

He had to dc because he was dying fast, how does that make sense?

This thread reminds me of one of the strangest 3 vs 1 interactions that I've ever had.

As we all know when a survivor disconnects pretty early, it's basically the killer who guides how the game is going to play out. It's always nice when killers go a bit more gently on survivors but often doesn't happen, etc. etc.

I had a survivor game a while ago (maybe Artist? on Macmillian Estate - doesn't even matter) and someone disconnected pretty early on. Maybe 1 gen was done. The killer then became super sweaty and the game turned noticeably unpleasant - a continual rotation of hitting, slugging, downing, hooking and it just kept on going until we were all dead. Maybe 2-3 gens got done but the game wasn't short - it was a real effort to get that far.

I've died in plenty of 3 vs 1 games - I get it but this game really stood out as it's very rare to see killers really very noticeably pushing at an early survivor disconnect.

But what was particularly unexpected was the post game chat.

The killer says... "I'm sorry about the game. I saw someone disconnect early on, so to finish the game quickly, I had to kill you all as quickly as I could."

It's part of the 4 step program.

Step 1 - Abandon game because it's not going your way.

Step 2 - Make a forum thread publicly stating this.

Step 3 - Abandon said thread because it's not going your way.

    Step 4 - Legend.

The only thing I hate about the dc penalty is when I'm playing killer and out of nowhere, the game kicks me out of the game and says no connection when clearly my connection is fine, and when I load back to the killer lobby, 5 mins dc penalty... Like bro... You shitting on my dick?

I hear you, however I do have to agree with others in saying that it sounds like the penalty is working as intended and you're being a sore loser. I've even read your responses to some others and you don't have to be in a swf disconnecting mid match because you got downed to be a sore loser. Any form of you purposely disconnecting from the match, whether that's restarting your router or pressing the "leave match button" is the very definition of it. You can't accept that you lost. Whether or not you've been able to do anything, take your 500 points and move on.

If you're actually to a point where you just feel like "I need to dc" because the match just isn't going your way, and it's happening multiple matches in a row, I strongly suggest you take a break. Play something else, maybe a little less competitive of a game. Take a dbd cleanse if you will. It's a video game. I've found myself today in your shoes and that's the point I just go, "Let's take a break."

I load the game up with the intent of actually wanting and being able to play the game. If the game spawns me holding hands with the killer, and that killer proceeds to chase and down me then proxy and tunnel me out of the game. That's not me being a sore loser. That's me wanting to get out of a ######### experience.

Also for the people who actually DO DC. Why is the Killer the ONLY one rewarded with points. The remaining survivors who put up with bullshit after the DC should also get points as well. They didn't ask for the DC or the extra weight that gets put on them at 4-5 gens remaining.

The game itself disconnected me along with others I know, also people who complained on reddit, countless times during the event. If the game is going to say that an error occurred, not having to do with me physically going in to the menus to DC, then there should be no penalty when I load the game back up. Numerous times I was sat waiting on a penalty timer that I didn't deserve from this with the game telling me that it couldn't initialize something or other. It shouldn't be taken out. But it definitely needs more parameters added to it

You went from wasting two minutes to wasting 5 minutes because you dc'd.

I, too, really hate that I can't just freely ruin the game for 4 other people, whenever I want for whatever reason, no matter how insignificant, because I am a giant baby :)

Hang on, let me make some stuff up really quick. Yeah, I agree OP. Honestly, I get tunneled and camped every game every single time for 400 games straight and even though it doesn't seem true, it is and I want to have fun so please remove penalty

  • Crowman
    Crowman Member Posts: 9,513

Getting tunneled out of a game still means you were playing the game. Quitting just because you don't like how your opponent is beating you is being a sore loser.

  • NekoGamerX
    NekoGamerX Member Posts: 5,288

funny the person being tunnel and camp should have they time ruin to buy time for people we don't know sure don't care about us.

you know how many times I been tunnel and camp and I see the other 3 survivor(same 3 who game I ruin if I DC or ######### on hook) doing nothing as this happening to me. fun times.

btw the DC penalty not working because people still dc a lot

to the Op just ######### on hook it easier then getting a dum ban

This is why the DC penalty exists.

A lot of these comments are coming in hot sheesh. I get that those matches can be really frustrating, but if you've been unhooked twice and manage to get away just try to be super stealthy and selfish. You never know how the match will play out! I'm the type of killer that will tunnel unhookers like that out of the game or ones that want to work with me as the killer, they die and the others get to leave :)

If the 'dying' animation annoys you just tab out of the game/mute it and put on some music that cheers you up. At the end of the day, it's just a game and not worth getting upset over.

I agree that the DC penalty is bullshit, but not for this reason.

When the game decides to randomly kick me from the match (my internet is still running strong) and it gives me a DC penalty, I understandably, get a little salty.

When the whole game crashes and I have to relaunch the program, and it gives me a DC penalty, I am highly frustrated.

If I have decided to intentionally ditch a game because the killer is being a c*nt, I will happily eat that DC penalty, because I agreed to that ######### when I left the match.

I thought about it. The DC penalty probably should go. I wouldn't want the 3 survivors who just DC'd from the game we were playing, so they could play Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, to get a DC penalty. Because they were getting killed and stuff.

I will repeat for the thousandth time in this post, that DC penalties if ANYTHING should be more strict. I'm tired of people DCing bc they're the first down. Or because "oh no, its ghost face, I just can't even (DC's)"

It sucks being face camped, or tunnel, but what you COULD do... is be a sport and hang there so your team can gen rush.

But yeah, I have no sympathy for people who openly admit they just want to be able to DC, especially with no consequence, you ruin the match for your teammates.

If you get camped/tunneld, deal with it, and move on to the next match.

You don't need to stay in a match where you get eliminated in 2-3 mins, you have been eliminated you're out of the match already.

"DCing was more about not letting the Killer have the final hook." That's called rage quitting you want to DC to punish play you don't like.

You can claim to "not be upset" but a person who wasn't upset would get eliminated and move on, so I call shenanigans and a lack of self awareness on that one.

The DC penalty exists to deter people like you from rage quitting, or DC'ing out of spite, when things don't go their way.

This has all been said but you seem to be willfully deaf to the point.

As stated before just look at the ptb why we have a d/c penalty.

I like how even with the DC penalty I have at least one person DC like every single match. At this point I'm like: when will the DC happen? Like #########? The DC penalty doesn't discourage anyone from DCing, so what's the point of it really?

  • cluxdx

    How about no?

    cluxdx Member Posts: 168

If the killer is better than you and you DC because of it, then yes, you did in fact DC because you got outplayed.

Have you ever played when the penalty is off?

That's when true hell breaks loose and you have to be lucky to get even half a game before the majority just disconnects.

    Wrong random map? Instant DC

    Wrong killer? Instant DC

First to get hit or even just found? Instant DC

First on hook or on the way there? Instant DC

And even better than the way it is at the moment, the second one person DCs two or 3 other just follow suit because there are no penalties.

Like i said, when penalties are off you have to pray to see a trial end in a natural way.

Wrong there is no point of Dcing that's why we have a penalty system in place. When we didn't have it people were Dcing alot more when they faced a killer they didn't like or played on a map they hated.

Besides Dcing is hurting your team as well by removing one member of the team. Like someone said if you are dying so quickly just let it happen naturally and you won't get the penalty.
