Why is DC'ing to deny Bloodwarden a thing?
Kind've a vent post, but I feel like something could (should) be done about this. Went against a swf, where the second I downed someone and opened the gate, they just dc'ed to immediately deny the perk, and I know as much because they said so in the end game chat. Not sure if a DC in the endgame with the perk equipped should just enable it, or if that would be too strong. Thoughts?

DCs shouldn't deny perks like that but I have no idea how that works coding wise

I think a solution would be whenever someone DC's their body should remain in the trail so the killer can hook or Mori them.

This is actually a really great idea! Didn't think about that

It would make sense to me. Survivors in a swf sometimes even DC to prevent a POP or Scourge hook which shouldn't be possible imo. BHVR really needs to do something about this. I have lost games just because I didn't get to use my pop and BW because a survivor DC'd.

Yeah when DC'ing for hatch was patched, I thought that was the end of it, but nope

Survivor bot with basic functionality would go a long way to lessen the disadvantages a DC presents to both killer and solo queue

Yea, I still get survivors who DC to give their teammate hatch sometimes. It shouldn't be possible imo but I also don't really know what the devs could do to prevent it.

It's crappy of them to D/C at that stage of the game, but out of curiousity, how could they have possibly known you were running Blood Warden and D/C to prevent it?
BW is pretty rare. The whole thing is that it's a nasty surprise that no one expects or can anticipate. It could have been they just rage-quit.

OP specified he opened the gate. Other than adding a timed pressure for the survivors, there's not too often another reason to do that than Blood Warden. Especially if said gate was not 99% opened.
Edit: typo.

If there's a down and the killer kicks a gate open before hooking... the forecast for the day predicts a 95% chance of Bloodwarden. The only other reasons for this a random endgame collapse challenge or the killer spontaneously wanting a slug race. I always take the killer opening a non-99ed gate as my cue to either GTFO or hide.
DCing to deny perks/hooks/kills shouldn't be a thing, though. I like the suggestion of the body remaining in the trial for x seconds so the killer can complete any interactions with it.

I see what you mean.
For some reason when i read the OP it didn't click that it was the Killer who opened the gate. That's never happened to me before. As you said, it would scream "I HAVE BLOOD WARDEN". lol

It's quite a typical move. Not all survivors are on comms so they don't necessarily know the killer has opened them.
There is a time and a place.

I am almost certain that was confirmed to be being worked on at same point (around the release of dedicated servers maybe?) but nothing has come of that.

Swf = single white female

DC should just count as an automatic hook sacrifice, givingthe killer Pop, BBQ etc.

Nice! This is a simple and elegant solution that doesn't muck around too much with any assumptions or "what ifs", just a body to be hooked and done for.

Great idea! Let's all dc to deny bloodwarden.

This is an obvious yet brilliant solution.
Not sure how easy or hard that would be to implement, but I love it.

i didnt know it was a thing... thanks for the idea. :))

Yeah, hopefully maybe someday if the custom match bots work well the devs will consider extending them to replace disconnected survivors like the mobile game does. They did say recently though that there's no plans to do that at the moment so if it ever happens it won't be any time soon unfortunately.
