The nerf to Dead Hard might expose the biggest issue of the game

Hi guys, Don't get me wrong, I'm so happy this unhealthy perk is going away from this game.

But, now that survivors would not be able to make risky loops, I fear that we are going to see much more pre droppings.

As we all know, the REAL issue of dbd which the devs aren't adressing - are the MAPS. If you see comp tournaments, people that are considered the best loopers in the game are just pre dropping pallets like baby survivors because they know they have enough(strong enough too) to help their team finish the game.

Now, survivors won't rely on DH to play risky and preserve resources, they'll give pallets fast and since most of them are so safe, we are going to see the biggest issue of DBD exposed - too many strong pallets in too large maps.

Just wait and see.

Welp comp is a terrible example though,,comp teams rotate, take hits,do gens efficiently,,your typical pubs will be one person in chase and pray people do gens while poor soul is looping for their life,,but what you said is true,,some maps are terrible,,it's no wonder only a select few maps are considered for comp dbd

Its so important that Deadhard gets nerfed heavily. Thanks a lot to the Devs for doing it.

Idk what about you, but sometimes the survivor not dropping the pallet cause of DH gave me the down, he did a mistake that DH couldn't fix. but, if he pre dropped that pallet a bit earliet he would've been totally safe. Solo queue is a horrible example for everything in the game, what I'm talking about more is high to top MMR when even solo queue players are very good at the game.

It's pretty nice if changes can now reveal an ACTUAL issue.

Well, competitive should be the way dbd is supposed to be played, as a team. Thus forcing people to learn to play this way and establish a sort of gameplay meta can also help the devs with balance.

cause crouching the whole game is not how game is supposed to be played and less people give the bad example to newer players the tighter the community gets.

You are right, but I would hope most people played for fun and took those risks rather than play to win. No reason to play like that with nothing on the line.

Yes, I know where I am. No, I still think most people play for fun and not to win.

It already is, because otherwise people would be hiding all the game.

what does this got to do with anything?

Competitive" refers to forms of "player-versus-player" content that take place under official rules and with a lot of ambition. They should be as fair competitions as possible. Competitive belongs to the field of "eSports" - they are ranked battles, a competition of the best players - often it is about prize money, always about honor.

dbd is far from that 😉

There are a lot of maps in this game with a lot of variations, so the amount of time and effort it would take to balance them isn't worth it to BHVR, especially with no money in it for them. Of course, this doesn't stop them from constantly releasing terrible new maps/reworks because they don't understand how to really design a map fairly.

Think about how large most maps that are released are. They could've easily released a few smaller ones with a different design philosophy, to test the waters, but they don't even do that. So do you really think they'll ever resize/rebalance maps?

Besides, smaller maps are a problem as a whole by virtue of all the band aid fixes they've introduced, specifically with perks. Not to mention the strength it would give to anti-loop/ranged killers or already high tier killers.

Why should be an issue if people start pre dropping strong pallets instead of looping them?

Just break the strong ones and keep the others to get downs lol

Unless it's The Game. That map is bullshit. Strong pallet into strong pallet in the same room into L-T into god pallet. FML man.

But it is what it is striving to, otherwise its community wouldnt be crying for balance, swf, nerfs and such

Maybe you're right. Maybe it will expose that maps do have a lot more flaws than we were aware of.

But we'll have to see if that's really the case, and if so, what those flaws are. Unfortunately you do preempt the result of such an analysis. And be aware, it might also reveal issues that swing the other way (aka: you might not like it).
