We Need To Do Better...

I know DbD doesnt have the best community, definitely not the worst either, but Ive never seen the community more split than now. Of course, this divide is made further by the changes, where people obviously arent going to be satisfied with the results since it fundamentally changed the core mechanics that everyone was use to. But there is one thing amongst this which really, really makes me kind of upset from how this community is handling it...

The community really likes to generalize whoever they see fit to make an argument that either doesnt exist or fits their agenda.

To better explain. Some players claiming that "all people do as killer is tunnel and camp after the update" when not everyone does that. Not everyone runs slowdown, not everyone tunnels or camps, and not everyone is going to see the immediate affects of the changes based on their playstyle, there are a lot of players in DbD, so all possibilities must be considered. Some players claiming that "all survivors dont have the ability to adapt" but maybe push aside some oversights in design that should be addressed, and as mentioned before, there are a lot of players in DbD, so all possibilities must be considered. Both sides make their own side, and make an opposing side just push their own ideas, an "us VS them" situation if you will. They throw people into a group regardless of how they seem themselves in order to prove a point.

It's a negative way of thinking. It doesnt get you, or anyone else, anywhere. And this negative way of thinking is becoming a lot more commonplace within DbD's community.

Im not sure if yall of noticed, might just be me, but there has been a larger amount of overall harassment and hate within the community as a whole (and a decent chunk of it involving the previously mentioned stuff). Im sure if you look through a few threads on the forums, youll find a suspended account with minimal effort; or play a few matches and see the post-game chat full of awful things people are saying.

I would just really prefer to have this all toned down. I want the community as a whole to just strive to do better. And I know that, obviously, I cant control others, but I still feel like voicing this is really important, so consider this an open letter.

    This ISN'T the worst community?

I have not found one worse. Anecdotal, but true from my point of view. People here are insane.

Unfortunately, the asymmetrical structure of DbD feeds hard into the tribalistic mindset of "my side" and "their side".

No one has ever said they were a Dire or Radiant main. But we can safely say we've been sitting in the middle of two groups' screaming matches for 6 years.

Hey, at least our "split" community will remain unified. Check out Overwatch where the split basically killed the game. Luckily DBD developers are not THAT inept. Heck, I do not believe there is much wrong with our community or developers at all, actually. I love them. One of the best I have been a part of. Sure, survivors are a bit entitled and killers are a bit whiny, but if that is the worst of it, I can live.

Since the patch dropped the amount of overall negativity in posts and replies has been very noticeable and quite tiresome.

Sometimes it seems like some people on here forget that they're speaking to other human beings. That you can express your opinion without either attacking the other party or being downright rude, it's just so unnecessary. IDK if it's because some are just young and their emotions might be getting the best of them at times. Or too many frustrations. The heatwave?

Whatever the reason for each individual and no matter what specific thing has made them feel a certain type of way, we really need to remember that this is just a video game. It really isn't worth nor healthy to get so worked up over it.

If you can't see that the devs are the problem with this game you're not paying attention and probably don't have a lot of gaming experience. People didn't put up with broken games like this when I was a kid. These devs wouldn't have made more games back in the day. As a gaming society our standards have lowered to the floor in comparison.
