24 hours of playing Solo Q Survivor: here are the results.
A quick preface: the killers are sorted by their name to keep track of who was used the most often.
As you can see Nurse was especially popular. Of these 20 matches which were played I only was able to escape 25% of the time. I'd like to mention that I had a 50% escape-rate as a Solo Q player before this patch. And no, I didn't rely on Dead Hard or anything like that.
Most of the time survivors were either throwing the game (hardly getting more than one gen done) or the killer was playing dirty from the very first moment. Camping and tunneling were especially rampant, even on high tier killers like Nurse and Spirit.
The quality of matches has drastically plummeted since the new patch, matchmaking doesn't seem to adapt either. I keep dying which keeps lowering my MMR, the result are even weaker teammates who will blatantly suicide if things don't go their way. The killers however hardly seem to change in behavior either, the experience remains unchanged.
EDIT - Here are the stats for the second session of Solo Q suffering, this time the escape-rate has improved!

This has been very nearly my exact same experience. The only difference is I've been on vacation this week and played a lot more matches and my escape rate might be slightly lower. Interesting note, killers seem to be especially blood thirsty at the beginning, but by the end they've started giving hatch a little more often.
At least some of them out there might be realizing that survivors are not having much fun.
The other thing I'll note because I haven't seen it mentioned, my total blood points is lower by 20% to 30% per match. I used to reliably score between 20k and 25k and now I'm lucky if I can get to 18k but most matches I'm nearer to 12-15k range. I think this just goes to show the killers are able to keep pressure up and more of my matches are spent hanging on hooks than accumulating bps.

If the weather gets better and my computer can avoid exploding when I launch the game, I might start doing stat challenges, always love to see stuff like this.
If you are going to do it again, you could make another column for DCs, it would be neat to see how often/rarely people DC from a match that isn't a 3/4k.

I still have the screencaps of all these result-screens saved, none of these featured disconnects surprisingly. These survivors at least had the decency to die onhook.

I was main Survivor, only playing SOLO-Q, little over 4k hours here. I have similar experience, but maybe even worse. I havent escaped through gate in 12 games i was playing in row. I was trying all my best, but in my games was lots DC, survivors suicide on first hook, killers playing very hard camping and tunneling, also some killers stacking 4 slowdown perks.
I switched to play killers what is much easier now. But I tried survivor SOLO-Q games again, this morning and it wasnt better at all. So I did 3 hours break and I turned on game again, but to my lobby i got 2 survivors Bill and Jaked with less than 80 hours and console claudete base skin, well i had nice chase against nurse but my teamates was downed always instant.
Survivor SOLO-Q lobbies / matchmaking is horrible now i think, since I lost couple of games, also theres lots killers and not enough survivors so I think matchmaking doesnt work at all, I guess.
Even Killer lobbies r long, its still more worth to wait and play killer rather than couple unfun frustrating SOLO-Q games I guess. I would love to play survivors tho but my games wasnt good at all.
I dont need to survive every game right ? But i just would like to have fun.

Iv escaped more than iv lost but I have noticed alot of survivors throwing games as well.
2 -
Pretty similar experience to mine.
First 2 days my escape rate was around 10%. Now is around 20-25%.
2 -
There's one more thing I've observed during these matches: my teammates hardly were aware of the new meta (Off The Record being the best perk right now), they simply died like flies just because they couldn't properly defend themselves against the tunneling. I really hope more survivors will start picking up this perk, maybe that'll help with the quality of the matches.
2 -
My escape was 45% before update, now, my rate is 40%. But i had hatch, baby killers, so..
0 -
I'm almost positive they reset MMR with the update. Incredibly frustrating game to play right now.
11 -
Yeah, there's been a lot of throwers lately. Not by virtue of being bad but intentionally suiciding on first hook. It's sad cause I've seen multiple games where the group of 3 make it to 1-2 gens, had a good chance if the other person didn't quit.
3 -
I swear if it is a spirit or nurse my teammates are guaranteed to kill themselves on hook.

As a main killer, I had a very bad experience with new long time queues and I'm not playing that role anymore.
I played several matches as survivors and now I play DBD just for boredom.
Killer role is unbalanced now for just a simple reason: 90 seconds for each gen means that your team needs 50 seconds more to complete all the gens in the trial.
Now killers can afford to camper the first survivor they get and can even manage the rest of the game. They know that they won't be punished for that, because they have so much time to waste.
Just a good SWF team can match against this kind of situation.
Playing in SoloQ is completely impossible: tunneling is not really an huge problem but obviously with new buffs is a little harder to get away from a chase; camping is no more bearable in the mid-match, maybe using Kinship and if the hooked one got Kindred you can gain more time.
Also survivors don't do gens because is boring to wait 10 seconds more to complete one, so many DCs, the new base-kit BT is completely useless and there's a lot of Nurses that don't even need to learn how to use the power.
Luckily, that's a mid-chapter so they are just testing a new-meta... I think It's a "good" starting but they need to keep it up, absolutely.

"If I were a survivor main, I would have quit. Good that Im a killer main"
5 -
I have also seen many more nurses than in the past. I'm not sure why. Folks that play high tier killers are almost uniformly incredibly sweaty and tedious, with a full load out of meta perks. It's a weird mindset.
4 -
I was watching a bit of his streams after update and yeah he told couple times killers got overbuffed a bit. Did Hexy lost any of game with his killers since patch ? He is a bit sweaty killer player tho.
0 -
You actually got two Spirits in a row? Lucky.
2 -
been watching this guy since day 1 patch and he 100% winrate as Killer so far. Yes he plays sweaty, but every Killer plays sweaty meta at mid to high level. He actually is using the strong stuff to showcase BHVR how broken it is. Because if he can use it so can everyone else
3 -
Not in a row, I did try to list the killers in a way to keep track of how often they were picked.

So you´re saying that the main issue is survivors giving up and killers camping/tunneling.
3 -
Oh but still. Everyone gets her regularly but me 🥲
0 -
Well...that was to be expected, sadly.
4 -
Not only that.

"Most of the time" sounds like the big issue here. People like me have been warning, that the removal of the BBQ bloodpoint bonus would increase camping. But most people ignored it. Claiming, that killers cant camp more.
Now thats the result.
7 -
With this patch, he killed the soloq, too many up killers (he even up god tier killers, while he deserves a big nerf) and too many survivor nerf.
3 -
I haven't been running OTR, because most of the time the killer is able to hit me before I can reach a window or pallet. Thus, the built in basekit BT is as good as running OTR. Ironically, DS is worth more to me than it ever has been.
0 -
what does that mean?

People always say that playing surv is easier than playing killer. Now, these are the consequences. Enjoy it

As a Killer I saw a Nea the other day who was by and far the best player on the team. I went on one chase with her, she clicked, teabagged, and connected every stun she could. I was thinking 'Oh man this Nea is dangerous, I need to be careful with her.'
I gave up on chase after breaking several pallets and moved on. A minute or so later I ran into her again and secured the down. Put her on hook and she suicided right there.
'What...? But why? You guys were beating my ass. You were doing so good!'
Confused as heck.
5 -
How were her teammates doing? Was anybody doing gens? Were they all going down instantly while she was able to run you? That might be your answer. Survivor matchmaking has been absurdly frustrating since the patch.
8 -
I have no idea what the point of removing the BP bonus was. It's just so stupidly random that they put their heads together and thought: "Hmm.. healthy perk that encourage Killers to leave the hook. But it's popular! Look how many Killers leave the hook! Must take the incentive for this away".
In what world does that compute?
6 -
Nothing has changed in terms of the way killers play. Most are still bringing slow-down perks; tunneling and camping are still rampant and using the same killers as before, so as expected, these changes haven't compelled people to play differently or bring various perks.
1 -
Most Killers dont want to stop camping or tunneling because with a new update instead of looking for strong ways to not have to do that, they looks for ways to counter the survivor counters to tunneling and camping.
For instance DS leave them on the ground thus survivors forced to use unbreakable, killers cant counter this combo complain on forum. DS gives them free escape! Well if they made it to end game they earned it. A killer doesnt have to do anything to make it to endgame to use noed and an undeserved kill(s).
Someone has bt thats fine I'll just wait it out, someone has DH ill just wait it out. Oh wait they can DH for distance complain on forum (this one im more sympathetic to). Now its they have OTR no problem i can tunnel with stb4l, basekit BT no problem stb4l or wait it out.
I have to camp and tunnel because every match is a 4man swf on comms, no it's not, not even close, you're just bad.

LOL this thread is quite literally on the frontpage of the subreddit right now but the devs still won't post in here
1 -
Exactly! It made absolutely no sense.
Sure, there were killers that camped despite BBQ. But most killers just wanted to get their stacks. Without it, there is simply no incentive to leave the hook and go for someone else.

There is no "playing dirty", there is only play.
2 -
All these survivors posting about games where they get 4K'd or can't even complete a single gen...
Where are these players when I'M playing?
Since this patch, I have an average of 6 hooks and 1 kill per match, with 5 gens finished nearly every single game.
I don't THINK I'm being matched up with 100% SWF teams, but there's a whole lot of survivors on this forum claiming they can't escape with any success whatsoever.
I guess the solo queue survivors who are doing just fine don't bother to make forum posts, huh?
2 -
Dang. But interesting, I am always a sucker for date like this... You know what? I will monitor my own experiences and see what it's like!
1 -
Thanks for compiling your experiences -- anytime someone puts the effort into doing so, it's appreicated.
I played 8 solo games yesterday, 6 today (today's matches were streamed, and multiple ones yesterday were recorded, before any jumps in to question the results). Out of those 14, I had 6 escapes -- 3 yesterday out of 8, and 3 today out of 6. In the past, when I compiled data over 250+ matches, my solo escape rate was between 55-60%, so this is a little lower, though my being smarter would have gotten me at least one more escape today, and these numbers are a smaller sample size than what I had compiled prior.
I played against 5 Huntresses, 2 Blights, a Dredge, a Trickster, a Demo pup, a Clown, and some others I can't remember offhand.
All 5 gens were completed in the majority of those matches -- 5 out of 6 today, and either 5 or 6 out of 8 yesterday. In two of the matches I died today, one was 100% stupidity on my part (I was exposed with MYC during Endgame and got caught out by an exit gate when I should have been more mindful of the exposed timer), and another was questionable teammate decisions (The Dredge had NWO, and despite running the killer back and forth between the two exit gates on Garden of Joy, none of my three teammates bothered to work on a door after NWO deactivated, for whatever reason.
There were a handful of 2-3 person escapes in those matches, and even a four-out or two. The killer tunnelled in a couple of the matches (one of my deaths yesterday was against a Clown that got 3 hooks the entire match, all on me, but everyone else got out).
Overall, quality of my teammates varied. In at least one of the games yesterday where gens didn't get done, someone rage-quit when they were downed first, saboing our entire team. My last match today -- a 3-out against a Huntress, the other Meg suicided on their 2nd hook as I started to move to save them -- despite that, we got all of the gens done (she did that at 3 gens left) and it was a solid enough match.
My thoughts playing survivor -- both since the update as part of my regular group I SWF with, as well as playing solo, is that lasting longer in chase, playing loops better, and being more efficient and playing smart, are more important than ever. Making mistakes are going to get you punished more than ever before (which making mistakes, either as killer or survivor, SHOULD have some consequence to them).
That's only my experiences -- other people are sharing different ones, and yours may vary. The story of what's playing out is a total of everyone's tales, not just a handful of people.
1 -
Yep thats most of my matches too. Killer easy now cause 90% of ur teammates are bots
1 -
Doesn't do much in my experience
0 -
That's honestly probably what happened. I kind of assumed that with their skill disparsity we just had one pro herding a bunch of newbie friends to victory, but it may have just been matchmaking wanting everyone to suffer with the weirdest MMR we'd ever seen. (the #1 player and the #1 worst player combine to make one average player right?)
1 -
I've been getting those types of matches once every 2 or 3 games and it's super frustrating. That has been my biggest complaint about SBMM since it launched and it seems to be getting more frequent. Balanced on a spreadsheet does not mean balanced in practice. The killer somehow has 6 hooks before a single gen is done and I haven't even seen the killer.
0 -
This is stupid. I really don't care how much BP i get in a match. And I am sure many other killers either. I will not leave the hook if i do not want just cause of a stack for BBQ. So I really don't think that taking this away made me camp more....

The first couple of days were rough, I lost a lot of solo queue games, mainly because there always seemed to be at least one survivor giving up in some capacity, either by DCing or letting themselves be killed.
Luck turned around on Saturday. Since then I'd say my survival rate is around 40%, with much fewer 4Ks.
Survivors are learning to play more cautiously. The new changes do not allow you to play like a headless chicken, rushing the killer and taunting them every chance you get anymore. You need to learn to evade the killer.
1 -
This is my experience as well. Every time I run OTR, it never gets used. Ergo, killers aint tunnelin'
2 -
Exceptions apply.
There are basement bubbas that don´t care.
1 -
I just love the way how my teammates instantly kill themselves or dc on hook because someone failed to save them by flashlight or flashbang or after they get downed (and yet there always 5 or 4 gens) And this is how the update changed the whole solo q survivor community. Lovely isin't it?

Excuse me? What? Why would a survivor earned anything with having DS for endgame? Maybe just hiding the whole game, got unlucky after the last gen, and the killer camps to secure a kill. Got saved, and get out for hitting space. So it is an earned escape? But getting kills with noed is not? And meanwhile survivors CAN prevent noed, you can do nothing against DS in the endgame. Many time you can choose let them crawl out, let them use unbreakable, or pick up and get DS-ed.
Or maybe the killer didn't tunneled anybody at all, but at the end he wants a kill. So at that point you say the survivor earned a free escape cause of a perk, but boooo bad noed it gives kills which the killer didn't deserved? I will never understand survivors hissy about noed. You can remove 5 totems. If you have problems to find it, then you have items which helps you, and you have perks to find them.
And DS never defended anybody if the killer really wanted them.
I really not understand what you try to say beside the basic survivor hissy. You talking about that killers are lazy. And what about then you? You talk like it would be impossible to play without DH or DS or BT.
And you talk like if a killer camp and tunnel only, then he could win. You can still finish 2 gens meanwhile somebody dies on hook. Even if the killer tunnels, if you have brain you can loop them for a while - meanwhile others, who also have some brain will do gens.
1 -
Neither when you got bullied, or when you have 1 gens and 3 uninjured survivors, or when all gens are finished. So yeah, assuming that the BP bonus made people to not camp is dumb.
