Went from Ash 4 to Gold 4 Survivor Last Week

I read the forums and assumed I would lose 90% of my games to face camp bubba and slowdown legion, and what do you know, it's almost like the forums are not an accurate representation of the average player's experience! Having a ton of fun as survivor, learning to get the most out of Lithe, using Off The Record to heal a downed survivor right in front of a Trapper's face, prove thyself for faster gens or adrenaline for that late game rush out the door. I have 5 builds I rotate based on how I want to play and this is the most fun I've had doing survivor, well, ever.

I never have a problem surviving because of a certain perk, it's always only when I get tunneled and face camped, those are the only games I guarantee lose now because those 2 aspects went from mildly unbalanced to wildly unbalanced. For example pre-patch if you were being face camped the rest of the team could get at least 4 gens before you completely died. Now 2 people will die before you get all 5 assuming the killer goes after no one else and sits on hook. So you're guaranteed to lose half your team. And if the killer does go after other people(which most do) that's almost a guaranteed 4k, especially if they have any gen regression perks.

I did not feel that the changes were that big of a deal on paper. In practice though, it has kind of been a struggle. I am lower mmr because I usually just give the killer a free kill if they do not get anyone else. I actively choose to do this. But post-update, they have been getting multiple kills during the game, so I try to escape end game and I only did it once against a TTV Pyramidhead who was trying to 2 hook everyone before sacrifices.

I also accidentally threw a game because self care takes so long to heal now and I had no idea just how much longer. I feel bad about that one, the person on hook probably hates me. As far as I am aware, I have never been such a baby survivor that I resulted in the killer wiping us until that game... Lol.

If you understand the game mechanics, the maps and all the killers then playing survivor is pretty easy. Players like me had thousands of hours to adjust over the years to all these variables.

I met someone who started playing around January and while they are pretty good looping is not something they have mastered yet. While not terrible they are not really going to run the killer for three generators either.

The biggest challenge to playing survivor is getting behind the curve; if you get into matches where people quit because they don't like the killer then you will likely lose. The problem is that there's a wide range of quitters to wade through before you get to the "never say die" group. Some of the quitters are the type to just hide near the end of the game hoping everyone else is doing generators.

It is not very intuitive but the game gets easier as you win more often.

How are you using OtR to heal in the Killers face?

You are wildly out of touch. Your idea of what "guaranteed 4k" is needs serious re-evaluation.

Also, explain to me how you're getting tunneled when Off The Record exists? No ones fault but your own if you aren't equipping good perks to counteract the kind of play you dislike most.

Downed survivor healed as much as she could, I ran to her, took a hit, and was able to pick her up and run away before he could hit again. It was nice.

OH, okay, that makes more sense. So you took an Endurance hit and used it for a quick pick up and dash. The original sentence sounded pretty sus.

I suspect some of the practical issues are pouting survivors. I just played a game where a guy got downed twice quickly, so he instantly disconnected (as the gens popped from 3 to 2). 2 gens on his 2nd hook the guy was angry but the game was going great. We won the game without him pretty easily and all 3 escaped. I know that's just one example, but I've seen plenty of this. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Survivor goes into game thinking "this is gonna suck, the patch is bad, killer is too strong" and the first time they get a whiff of validation for their fears, they blow up and quit out.

If survivors played like they gave a crap instead of looking for reasons to quit, we'd see better survive rates right now. That's why paper doesn't match up with actuality.

Agree 100%. Survivors right now are looking for reasons to quit. The second they see NuRsE/bLigHt, or any sliver of evidence that a killer is "tunneling me", they're looking to quit out.

off the record only matters when the killer isnt camping you, if hes camping u, it makes off the record completely worthless. There are no "good perks" to counter that. Which is the main problem in the game, and if you don't know that, then the one who's out of touch is you.

Spoken like a true killer main who has no idea what balance even looks like.
