I still don't know why people continue to praise the old ranking system as if it was better than the current SBMM.

For who? Definitely not for solo survivors. Hence the problem solo has been having for a while now.
An escape does not indicate skill, and a death does not indicate a lack of skill.

Perhaps not 100% of the time, I will give you that, but in general (hehe) they were far better than MMR.

I swear to God, I agree, SoloQ is a bit weak, but this "But SoloQ!!1!!" has to stop. Everything revolves around SoloQ, and most of the time it's because of the players.
SBMM is fine, it just needs to count the team as a whole, not the individual Survivors.
A majority of the game doesn't indicate skill, doing either of the main objectives, whether it be Killer or Survivor, doesn't require skill

They weren't. They were by far worse than SBMM.
At least escaping increases your MMR. With Ranks, escaping wasn't even guaranteed to give you a Pip, it still doesn't guarantee one.
Very fun for the baby Survivor that just installed the game to be butchered by a Nurse on Midwich, or for the baby Killer going against a 4man on Cowshed with 3 Brand New Parts and a Flashlight

It does not need to stop. SBMM is exactly why solo queue is abysmal, and one of the main reasons why this patch is a hot topic.
People throwing a game and getting me killed should not affect my skill rank. Being tunneled out, even if I keep a chase going for a long time, does not indicate I lack skill when I inevitably die. I can do everything I'm supposed to and still be paired with baby survivors because I didn't escape.
Your argument was "SBMM is better" (with SBMM standing for skill-based matchmaking), then you proceed to say a majority of the game doesn't indicate skill. So which is it then?

That's why SBMM needs to increase your MMR based on the result of the team, not the individual result.
SBMM is a better matchmaking system than the old Ranks, but it doesn't reflect the skill of a player because it can't. Measuring the skill of a player isn't possible because of how RNG-infested DbD is.
Dead By Daylight is more based on game-knowledge and knowing how to exploit the weaknesses of your enemies than skill
