Self Preservation tome challenge

Helloy everyone,

I am having quite the problem with this tome challenge, ie Tome 6-Page1-Self Preservation Master Challenge.

Text says "Hide in a locker within 5 seconds of being in a chase with the killer". A quick google search has shown that this challenge is poorly worded and many people have had their problems; there has even been two tickets openend about it in the bug report.

So, I have already thrown about 3 games trying many different apporaches so cover all sorts of variants: I was on the gen in coal tower with a locker directly next to it. The killer came around the corner, hit me and I hid in the locker instantly. I even had Quick and Quiet equipped and got an escaped score event. This one here puzzles me the most, because I think it was all perfectly aligned.

Then other times I hovered around a locker and once the killer came around the corner I jumped in. I tried everything: jumping off a killers shoulder into a locker, jumping from an unsave unhook into a locker. Escaping the killer and jumping into a locker. Nothing worked and I am pretty miffed about it. I might just equip a quick and quiet and Blastmine build and just play the game and hope that I somehow solve this challenge while playing normally.

Does anyone know WHAT exactly this challenge wants of you? Thanks ^^

EDIT: even though the challenge didn't call for the perk "Self Preservation" to be equipped, I did even that and no luck until yet.

Really, I did absolutely everything and tried multiple angles, to no avail. I will write a bug report now and see if I get a response, as I don't think this challenge is working properly.

Does the text say "hide" or "end chase by jumping into...?"

Because I thought the specifics of that challenge was to end the chase by entering the locker. So basically, you need to hear chase music when you jump in the locker, and you need the chase to end while you are in the locker--basically the killer has to not check the locker for like 3 seconds.

This challenge is easiest if you run Overcome, Lucky Break, Quick & Quiet, and Iron Will, and jump in the locker immediately after losing a health state and breaking LOS with the killer.

Alternatively, you could run Poised, Head-On, Quick & Quiet, and Iron Will, and try to do this mid-chase after a gen gets done.

I've been trying for about 8 hours on this challenge and I give up. I tried for about 3 hours interpreting it as within 5 seconds after being in a chase, and for about 5 hours interpreting it as within 5 seconds of a chase starting.

I know some other tome challenges are bugged right now (the shout ones) so I'm calling the past 8 hours a loss and chalking it up to typical BHVR buggery.

BHVR, if/when you decide to fix your game, please fix the ambiguous wording of this challenge to indicate whether "within 5 seconds of being in a chase" means 5 seconds after it starts or 5 seconds after it ends.

Oof, you got my sympathy! That's a real bummer. I gave up after trying for 8 games or so, as I still got other tome pages to do, but apparently this one here is bugged.

Good to know, so let's hope that others will find this entry here before they waste 8h.

I did it by hoping into a locker when the killer was chasing a friend as long as your near itll get done. Cant remember if i had any specific perks equiped tho
