Let's Discuss the Mettle of Man Nerf
So I just read the developer update for the 6.1.2 bug fix patch, and while I obviously know that this isn't all that they're going to be doing for this patch, although granted I'm pretty sure the rest of it is just bug fixes, there it was one thing about this that kind of confuses me and I want to talk about it. Granted I am personally disappointed that thanatophobia has essentially died now, and also very upset that the matchmaking incentives are not coming out as soon as we were promised but... It ain't the point of the post.
Mettle of Man now activates after two protection hits. That is the only part of this entire perk rework that is considered a buff. And personally if this was the only thing that happened to it, while I still think it wouldn't seem much value, it would actually kind of be a bit more reasonable.
But now instead of basically just giving you a free hit, you know gain the endurance status effect. Which means that if you perform a conspicuous action, you lose the ability to take a hit. You're also forced into staying within a 16 meter range of the killer so that way your aura is not revealed, in case the killer does not happen to be chasing you when the perk is activated.
(Now, I'm sure it was just a mistake, but this did not point out that as soon as you lose the endurance status effect to a conspicuous action, the aura is also hidden from the killer. Since this was not mentioned, I'm extremely afraid that you are now permanently revealed to the Killer? But I'm gonna just assume that's not the case, though it would be stupid if it's true.) EDIT: It got cleared up and this is not true. Void this.
I don't get it. I genuinely don't get why this is what they're going to be doing. Because now when you have Mettle of Man activated you are now basically forced into wasting your time to get Endurance value from this perk. It's kind of like people using Off the Record, wasting time bothering the Killer so they can hit you instead of being used as an anti-tunneling perk. With this perk we work, you're essentially forced to basically waste your time taking another body block for the survivor, if the killer happens to not be chasing you once the perk is activated. I just don't think this is a good change at all. It just doesn't make sense to me. I don't understand why this perk needed to be nerfed when it was barely used in the first place, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there's something I don't fully understand with this change. That's why I came here to discuss it.
So... What do you think? Am I misunderstanding the situation? Probably.

While the Endurance effect is active, your aura will be revealed to the Killer when they are further than 12/14/16m away
The aura reading is only shown while Endurance is active. If you deactivate the endurance status effect the killer won't see your aura anymore.

before the update Mettle of Man was barely alive, but i used it because it is my fav perk BUT NOW if you commit to have it then you get wallhack on you 24/7 and you can't even do a gen or saving others, you can't even sabotaging hooks and get a use over it because it deactive itself after you start a consp. action this is insane why should i use it over a Dead hard now? it just doesn't make sense. i am so salty about it.
literally me reading the changes:
edit:
now i have calmed down a bit and my reaction is this about the nerf:

Wait I haven't even thought of that. They're kicking an already down perk.

Super cool that the killer knows they can safely ignore you until your aura goes away, and then knows that you no longer have endurance.

Yeah that is definitely going to be a very good information for the killer that's for sure lol

If you see the aura, you ignore the player, unless you're Legion. They can't progress the game.
If the aura deactivates, congratulations, the survivor just wasted a perk slot.
Sure, they can try to stay in your face while you chase someone else. Well, two people off gens.
It's a perk that actively sabotages itself. It might be worse than Self Care at this point.

So on the off chance some poor fool in my survivor game happens to be using this perk, and he takes a protection hit and I suddenly see his aura, why in the name of god would I ever hit him? He now has to choose between just doing nothing for the rest of the game, or sacrificing all the work that he's done, which *I will also immediately know because his aura will go away*
This perk is now literally worse than worthless! It requires you to take two hits to then signal to the killer that you're going to be useless for the forseeable future, and then informs the killer exactly when you've decided to no longer be useless but given up the endurance state.

I fully agree. If you're not within the range, you're giving the Killer Free information and basically reassurance that that Survivor is not going to be a part of the issue if you see that or a deactivate. Feels like it's helping the killer more than the Survivor at this point I think.

The perk that, if you ignore it long enough, the problem literally resolves itself.

Hey, let's be fair to BHVR. They had to make some sort of change in response to the zero people anywhere who thought MoM needed to be changed in any way shape or form.
When you're getting that amount of literally no requests that you do anything at all, you just gotta do something.

Object users have stonks

True! And No Mither was getting lonely in the "perks that are an actual detriment to run" category, so BHVR needed to give it some company!

The only use MoM has now is if you have a stack and are healthy, you can tank 2 hits while a killer is carrying a survivor to a hook.
It's not something you can't accomplish without MoM, but it's really the only thing that it can do.

Its a dumb change but what did you expect from the Devs? They clearly pointed out why making it an Endurance perk would hurt it then with the same breath said its now an Endurance perk.

To be honest i think the endurance part is ok since you are after all tanking a hit, however the aura part is where the perk not only becomes kicking a dead horse, but also burning it and nuking it.
