Personal Opinion: It feels like new DMS is a buff than a nerf.
I also noticed that the 4th gen got blocked on my right but I might be wrong.
The fact that I managed to get consistence value out of DMS while Ruin is up every 30 seconds is insane. This was my first game as Clown after being killed switch for a week. And I am going to be honest, I feel dirty running my main build and I am going to have to switch it to make it less repressive. As a result, I gave the last person the hatch. BUT I am going to run this perk build a few more time and hopefully get a scenario where they find my ruin in less than 5 seconds.
What's everyone opinion on new DMS?

You just seem to be going against bad Survivors.
As for DMS, it sucks, and it always sucked
6 -
In no way has DMS ever "sucked" since its buff
46 -
It also could be the map itself. There was at least one surivvor that was good out of the bunch. But like I said, I am going to do futher testing
1 -
It has, on any Killer that wasn't Artist
1 -
gotta love it when killers openly admit that they have to "play down" the killers role.. clearly the basekit is op af if soo many killers need to down play.
13 -
You might be shocked to learn that there are quite a few survivors out there who can beat clown on coldwind with those perks, and could in fact do so before three of them were nerfed
9 -
I never said survivors couldn't beat it.. I said you gotta love it when the killers themselves admit to needing to downplay their own builds to get decent exchanges...
8 -
PR DMS was one of my main combos on clown and pinhead. His box search forces people off gens either through solving it or the chains themselves
Possesed chains also can knock survivors off gens. Definitely not weak on him
6 -
gotta love it when survivors make that kind of assumption without ever having actually played killer to get any perspective. Or when killers assume that because its the only way someone could have that opinion. its almost like theres a meme on the board about it, something about.... them? and i think us?
6 -
Haven't tried it yet. But the fact that it was nerfed to 30 seconds might make it viable with PR and Pop. It still wouldn't be the strongest gen regression build, but that'd be 10% from PR on the gen with the most progress, plus 30 seconds of slowdown, plus up to 20% from Pop, plus the effects of whatever other gen kicking perk you wanna throw on top (maybe Call of Brine). There were some players who were keeping DMS at tier level 1 just because they wanted to stack it with Pop.
Competent survivors would still be able to counter it, though.
That's actually a terrible build on a bad map with a mediocre killer. I can't imagine running Ruin at all, in any build, at this point. It doesn't do anything useful, and it'll still be gone 30 seconds after the match has started.
1 -
are you saying I'm not a RR killer? lol been there done that.. I dont need dirty tricks or perk build clutches.. I am unlike most killers.. I actually respect the score for the feeling of victory/validation.. I don't need a 4k every match to feel whole.. esp when I outscore the entire team with even a 4E..
1 -
im saying you completely missed the point i was trying to make, that your aggressive assumptions about others doesn't do conversations any favors, especially when concerning balance.
8 -
aggressive assumption? lol He literally said it in the original post.. "I'm going to switch it to make it less repressive" To quote it.

Just to remind you of the comment in question:
And my response was that you're turning an unrelated topic into an us vs them about how killer is ever so op and oppressive, with no constructive input. Just ****flinging basically.

How is it the basekit? The basekit buffs aren't the problem. Its the fact that some slowdown perks just became too strong in combination with 90 second gens. Especially those that added action speed debuffs that were percentage based. Pentimento and eruption are now the biggest problems in my opinion.
That and the lack of camping and tunneling nerfs, and perhaps solo queue information buffs, are the real problem. Revert baseline killer buffs, and we are just at square 1 again. Killers being more dependent on slowdown perks, and camping and tunneling not getting nerfed properly. Instead, Bhvr needs to move on further, so that both sides are better to play than before the patch.
1 -
Or maybe you played against survivors which has better skills than you?
DMS was never sucked, it was good perk. It is still good.
3 -
That's still quite situational.
Nope, I got consistent value out of it almost every game I ran it. I stopped running it because I realized how weak it actually was

What killer were you running it on? Artist is not the only killer that synergized with it. It's really not a bad perk at all, but it's not going to do much for you if you don't pressure gens - if you don't do anything with it, it only gets the occasional person leaving a gen to make a save, and it only hits people once before they learn.
As for DMS... I mean, they brought PR/DMS back. Why they thought this was a good idea, I don't know, but they certainly did it. Though DMS is assuredly worse on its own now.

How is it? I’m consistently blocking gens on every hook due to interruption or through using possesed chains or chain hunt to block them. Even throw in surveillance if you want the info for essentially the old combo all over again

Dead Man’s Switch was kind of bad when it first came out because it only triggered when you hooked the Obsession. Now it’s pretty decent. It works better on killers that have good map mobility or long range map pressure but really anybody that can juggle gens can make use of it.
1 -
yeah new dead man switch is pretty big nerf for pinhead. i love hoarder+old dms switch combo. its so good. it completely ascends pinhead's 4vs1. feels good to rewarded for hooks and not require to camp. 30 sec will feel so short.
I don't know why merciless storm is based off regression for activation, it makes more sense for it to be on timer similar to tinkerer. the way to fix it would have been to make it work like tinkerer. old tinkerer was like 95% so why is this 90%? the killer is unlikely to be able to save the generator at 90%. just make it work like whenever a gen reaches 70%, merciless storm activates for 12-14-16 seconds. works once per gen.
the perk can literally have copied pasted values from tinkerer's trigger range and duration of undetectable converted into the super easy skill-checks.

On Killer like Artist is cleary a Buff

if you're getting downs every 30 seconds, then i dont think the perk build is making much of a difference in you winning or losing lmao
i think theyre dying anyway my friend
2 -
It was definitely overrated from the "uncounterable combo with pain res" a lot of people claimed. It probably is still overrated unless its on an artist and even then you just don't instantly go back on the gen after the hook you wait for her to shoot her crows.
1 -
Situationally are there better perks? Sure, but all it takes is to run up to a gen they are on and you get value out of the perk. Saying it "sucks" is uncalled for when perks like predator exist.

I’ve played with DMS + PR once as Spirit, and never again. The game felt so damn easy that I couldn’t take it. In no way is DMS a bad perk.
1 -
After a few games with my perk build, yea you're right lol. I had a sweaty team that took me to the Groaning storehouse and I somehow managed to get a 3K with 1 gen remaining.
1 -
DMS is in a similar situation as Spirit Fury. It's good when combined with a perk that really complements it, but rather weak just by itself.
There's a few killers who can get value from DMS without a perk like PR such as Pinhead's chain hunt or Doctor's static blast, but I would certainly say on it's own DMS is on the weak side.
1 -
Scourge: Pain Resonance + Deadman's is strong, even with the 'nerf' 30 seconds is the same as deadlock and it can proc more times.
0 -
Either finish the gen or let go before the hooking animation. It's not that hard.
0 -
lmao, you think that this combo is oppressive? really?... if they loose aganist a killer like clown in a map like that you just went aganist bad survivors
0 -
Ok first of all, we all know that those blocked gens are not affected by ruin, making that combo counter productive?
With that out of the way, if after someone gets hooked, you go down in 30 seconds or a likewise time for DMS to activate so repeatedly, thats kind of on you, unless you are playing against nurse.
Finally, how on earth are those people getting boddied by a clown, this killer is literally made to be dunked on, how have they gotten down 3 times before popping a single gen, that first chase on coldwind should have been enough to do 2 gens at the very least.
0 -
Ruin in 2022. Lol.
2 -
I would pick letting go and wait till the killer hooks the person then go back to it. I honestly haven't seen a killer that runs Surveillance yet. But knowing my fat ass, you'll end up finishing it before I head over there, lol. But also depend on how far is the gen and weather or not I should hand it out.
One of the survivors out of the 4 gave me a hard time in that map. I ran the same perk build a few times the other day and I can guarantee that the survivor I had were a bit better than the one in Rotten Fields.
0 -
why do you feel dirty? those add ons and perks are much needed for clown
0 -
Who cares if you dont feel like a 3k or a 4k is a win. That is the objective of killers, to get more than 2 kills. hatch is a hand out for survivors.
0 -
That he does! I had to take a shower after that game, lmao.
in anycase, I'll be testing it with no add-ons and see if I get the same results. I know I had a few close matches the other day and will see if I get the same result.

ONE as you said... things won't change if only one of them is actually trying to escape while the others will stay in a corner instead of doing generators or something useful generally speaking... as i said you were aganist bad players (except that guy). i can tell you my personal experience as solo survivor: usually i successfully kept busy the killer for a good amount of time (between 2 to 3 minutes), but it's useless since once hooked (or when the killer leave me alone) the 1st thing that i see are people crouching in the corners of the map or running around without doing nothing useful or even sabotaging the others for extremely petty reasons (i had more than once survivors upset toward me cause i cleansed a totem instead of leaving it to her/him). to put in short words you can be a looping god but if your team won't do gens you'll loose (unless rng will help you and the hatch will spawn under your feets)
