For Hooked On You's rewards...
You're supposed to link your BHVR and Steam accounts. Then you're supposed to receive a code.
However, what if I don't want to link my account? I've heard nothing but trouble comes from it, everything from losing friends and crossplay to losing your account/playtime (and everything it contains) entirely.
I own both games. I'd like the rewards... but it's not worth potentially losing my entire account to a glitch. Is there anything I can do? Has anyone tried contacting Support directly about this yet? :(

I've connected my Steam account to my BHVR account but not explicitly merged my DBD and BHVR account. So there's no progress stored, thus nothing to lose. Hooked On You has been merged but I care about progress within that game substantially less.

Yeah, you only have to merge Hooked On You to get the code.
You don't have to put your DbD progress at risk.
It's all done through Hooked On You.

I just checked my BHVR account.. it says it's already linked, which is odd (I think I accidentally did it earlier?), and it says my DBD progress isn't and can't be merged (right now). So I think everything's ok... Now I just go through HoY, I guess!

That's good news to hear, I didn't want to risk losing any progress.
Makes you wonder why BHVR requires linking, when games like Team Fortress 2 had figured out cross-game rewards a decade ago.

Do not unlink your DBD account from BHVR. From what I've heard, that's what causes the problems.
If you're already linked and merged then do not undo it! (I don't think there's any real reason to, as well..)
