I was wrong about dead hard
Honestly I had a lot of concerns but after trying the new version of dead hard out a lot it's honestly really impactful and satisfying to hit. It's a fun way to keep a chase going and the mending time balances out the on demand health state hit boost it can give.
Any others agree? Despite strict timing I'm going to keep it on one of my most played characters for the fun factor I get from it like tanking a demon dash or shred

I have no idea.
I haven't seen anyone use it, killer queues are nightmarish enough to keep me in Survivor, and I never ran Dead Hard even before its nerf.

New DH actually feels stronger than the old one. Since the gained distance on proc is far superior.
2 -
I just think it should count like old Mettle of man, that its not an endurance effect so you can actually use it against legion and partially deathslinger
1 -
Yeah, honestly the new dead hard feel more impactful and buys more time in a chase. The big downside is it's a huge time sink over a match with all the mending
0 -
Depending on the Killer, I think it's stronger than pre-patch
0 -
I am now actually happy when a survivor lands a DH against me, because they actually time it, and then I can decide to drop the chase or not
2 -
dead hard is still really strong against M1 killers in my experience after the patch,
1 -
i like DH against the huntress and nurse, against others it mostly triggers when i'm dead on the ground
0 -
No, I'm fine with it not countering every killer power in the game. I think it's in a great spot now. It's actually pretty common to find it at higher level MMR, but only because these players know how to use it.
I also think the 0.5s endurance, 1s animation is fair and prevents Lose/Lose situations near pallets, and instead turns it into a 50/50.
2 -
Agree, i have always used DH and still do now.
Iv never understood people that said it was dead, it's still a great and very strong perk
0 -
Its still a meta perk, definitely still a lot of robberies though if the killer or you has suboptimal connection at any point. Even with the robberies, the majority of times its successful for me so I guess I can live with it

I should be a 1s endurance then so it ends when the animation ends. I hate waiting for the animation to finish because I know that halfway through it I can hit the survivor but I would rather not take any chances when I have a guaranteed hit.

I kind of slept on it after it was nerfed and used SB a bunch. However, after using it for a game or 2, I'm back to using it in most my builds again.
- It's still very good at TL's
- Good generally at loops. If you can't quite make it, press E at the point you'd normally drop the pallet (if you see the killer lunging), otherwise drop the pallet.
- It can be used to tank a hit when bodyblocking a hook.
Only thing is, I also tend to use OTR and Adrenaline in my builds which can deny my DH. And certain killer powers and addons deny DH easily. Also the fact that it's still very inconsistent when it comes to activating it like old DH, ESPECIALLY against Nurses for some reason!

I'm kind of still using DS with dead hard, that way even with the shorter stun duration when I'm downed the deep wond is instantly gone so I can use it more off the hook
0 -
I would bait out a DH with an extra bump every time pre patch as blight. Now even though I should if I know they got DH I really couldn't care less for some reason
1 -
I disagree it doesn't work half of the time even with good timing, it's really inconsistent dead perk for me
0 -
I really like how it is now, a lot easier to counterplay but very rewarding getting use out of it. If someone uses it on me, it's not frustrating anymore and it's more either a bad play of me or a really good play on them.
0 -
yeah,it's kind of really stupid that getting hit through borrowed time just disables your exhaustion perk or legion just hitting you once also just disables it.
0 -
and compared to SB / Lithe you can't use it with OTR it's stupid imo

Ye I think the new dead hard is great now that people have learnt to use and time it well including myself, not long now and killers will start saying it's broken again and want another nerf lmao

Dead Hard is still looking to be in the top 10 most used survivor perks on the aggregate site I follow, it’s at about 16% usage. For context it’s directly between Unbreakable at 11% and Off the Record at 17%. So you probably have been in matches with people who have it but just didn’t spot it in the loadouts.
0 -
i still see it, most survivors spam it at a pallet, so its not really a big deal, plus they have to mend so that's more time for me

The killer reaction seems to be the opposite. So far the killer comments appear to be leaning toward saying things like “I’m actually impressed when someone uses Dead Hard now.” Or at worst they say the new version doesn’t bother them. I don’t think there’s been any serious complaints about it being broken.
2 -
Literally nobody is saying it’s broken.
1 -
It also helps it's not on every single survivor back to back now.
Old dead hard didn't really bother me until I started seeing it on every survivor which then became really grating to play against.
Plus inflicting deep wound is a still something even if they don't go down.
2 -
I've been using it but never did before. Easier to execute than I expected.

For sure, it was WAY overused before. I didn’t even really realize just how overused it was against me until after the change and I started to see a lot of times when I would get a hit right before someone reached a pallet or window and think “huh, if they had the old Dead Hard they would have reached that.” I mean, that happens in most of my matches, it just shows how often survivors were Dead Hard lunging for distance before, to the point it was second nature to see it.
2 -
I think the new version is easier to catch people off guard with, but also easier to wait out when you know about it.
1 -
Dead hard on reaction to a killer lunge got buffed from the perk rework. I think people are just complaining about it less, because they don't see it as often. It's still pressing E to erase a mistake, for the people with good reaction time.
1 -
It’s definitely weaker than the previous version. Yes it can block a hit but its use to lunge for distance preemptively is basically gone and it also doesn’t protect against things like Trapper’s traps and Deathslinger’s spear, etc. So it’s both used less and is only used with good timing.
0 -
I never play Trapper nor Deathslinger, so I honestly don't care if it's weaker against them. I mostly play Blight and Nurse, which means I very rarely ever saw dead hard for distance.
I haven't used dead hard since the perk rework. How is the dead hard on reaction to a killer lunge gone? Did BHVR add starting frames to dead hard when they shortened the animation?
0 -
I said "lunge for distance" is basically gone, I didn't say the "reaction to the killer lunging" is gone. By "lunge for distance" I mean preemptively using Dead Hard when the killer isn't actually in attack range to gain distance ahead of them so you're never in range of a swing at all.
0 -
That means dead hard was still essentially buffed when the survivor is against Blight and Nurse.
0 -
The timing to block a hit with the new Dead Hard is literally the same as the timing to dodge a hit with the old version, they're both 0.5 second windows. If someone could dodge a hit against Blight or Nurse before they can block it now, that didn't change or get buffed.
0 -
You gain more distance against the two killers who probably care the least that you've gained some distance on them, in exchange for murdering its problematic use cases and requiring a mend if you do manage to get away.
Seems fine to me.
0 -
The survivors now get more distance if Blight or Nurse swings into a dead hard. Who cares if they have to mend? How often is Blight or Nurse trying to hit and run? Killers care about extra distance, especially if it allows the survivor to break line of sight.
"Most problematic use cases" for Blight and Nurse never was dead hard for distance. And when I do play M1 killers, I'm still forced to keep walking forward into M1 tap range if the survivor doesn't have deep wounds. They're still no "anticipating dead hard", which were told we would be able to do. The only thing the rework did was make it weaker for the survivors that don't have good reaction time.
0 -
Yes, but again, Nurse and Blight are probably the least affected killers by you gaining more distance on them.
And, again,
they're Nurse and Blight.
1 -
Dead hard is still more annoying to face as Blight and Nurse, with the rework. And if the extra distance allows the survivor to break line of sight, then it can be a lot of value.
We still have the issue that we were promised we could anticipate the new dead hard (we can't), and that it can be used exactly the same way against those two killers as it did before the rework, even though BHVR was supposed to be "shaking up the meta"
