People need to stop giving up and learn to get better
You arent going to get better if you keep giving up constantly....
The fact most of you are just giving killers free wins because you instantly give up at the start is stupid. Just because you went down fast doesnt mean everyone else will nor does it mean we cant still win.
It's a team game, stop throwing everyone's game because it didnt go your way. Learn to stick it out and learn from your mistakes.

All I am saying is once I went down after a 10 second chase. I was really salty, but I did not give up. I activated Ultra Instinct and ran them for 5 gens after that.
But also sometimes I just go back down in another 10 seconds. Your mileage may vary.

People shouldn't give up true.
But "lear to get better" doesn't work on every killer, right, Omega blink Nurse? ;-)

I cannot count the number of games where a survivor has DC'd early in the game, just for us to repair about 4.5 gens in total before losing another survivor and then snowballing to a 4K. So many games could have been easily won.
Similarly, I like to play fair as killer, I spread out hooks and only start killing once everyone's on death hook, and if they're getting the gens done and playing well I might even ease up and let them go, depending on if I need sacrifices for challenges or dailies. (unless they're legit stomping me in which case I stop counting hooks and if they die they die, I'll take whatever I can get at that point) Well survivors DC early in the game, which screws over the other survivors. Then they're not getting all the gens done unless I hard throw, which is boring. They're screwing themselves out of a fair game too, I get that they're probably frustrated from the tunneller they faced before me, but if you don't take your opportunities you'll never see success.
Let's be real here, DCing as a survivor early in the game because something hasn't gone you way, is the equivalent of flipping the board game because you rolled a 1 instead of a 6, then storming off in a huff. You're pissing everyone off and embarrassing yourself.
And these tantrum throwing survivors are probably responsible for a hell of a lot of kills. I wouldn't be surprised if they're responsible for about 10% of kills, which would put a more accurate kill rate at around 40%.

That too, happens to me often where one chase sucks but the rest are amazing. I feel too many people forget you get multiple chases and it's a 4v1
Eh you should still try and not give up. Sure it's harder and annoying but you can still do stuff against it and try to do well

It is BHVR's fault, they have garbage matchmaking.
One game i am playing with great solo teammates. And we are playing good, fun match. And then other game i have Claud who is still using Self-Care. And then another game Nea is chasing killer for flashlight save, failing and dc'ing.
This matchmaking is garbage. That's why i am only enjoying with my friends when i play survivor.
But besides all of this, they buffed tunnelling and camping. Both strategies needs fair nerfs.
6 -
Yep same thing happens to me far too often, worst thing is its usually a weaker killer as well... like come on a weak killer on a good survivor map definitely no need to give up and cry about one fast down
Well SBMM just sucks in general, its definitely a mixed bag but that's why I say solo Q isnt an issue its more the SBMM as whenever you get a team of your level versing a killer at your level it's good games but then other games you get people who have no clue how to play and give up.
And yeah the tunneling is an issue, still needed at high mmr sadly so I dont blame them but its definitely not fun. BHVR really need to sort out core base issues like tunneling...
I'd like tunnelers to be punished and people who dont rewarded, I do miss my old DS ngl

I agree, except for nurse matches. Playing against a nurse in her current state shouldn’t be a thing anymore.
1 -
That exactly what I was saying to killer-players for almost a year now.
7 -
You see, killers don't need to learn to do better, they need to get things nerfed/buffed.
Survivors are the only ones who need to learn to get better.
3 -
Exactly. And killers have to have, quote, "relaxing matches" rather than "sweatfest". Survivors should only have sweat and depressing matches, because because.
6 -
Thats funny. Just today i saw a clip of a streamer, who complained that survivor has become to hard. That she can´t drink, eat and chat while playing anymore.
5 -
SWF can eat and drink yes.
Everyone can chat.

Pretty much sums up why killer queue times are a problem at the moment. Bad matchmaking, and then those pathetic strategies called camping and tunneling. And tunneling and camping have nothing to do with learning to get better. If anything, it's the killers that should learn to improve, so they don't have to fall back to cheap strategies like camping and tunneling.
I am praying to no end we'll see some nerfs to those strategies in the update coming to ptb today, but I don't have my hopes up very much.
1 -
But she complained that she couldn´t anymore, because the game was to hard now. That its not casual anymore for survivors.
Tbh, if killers have to sweat, then so do survivors. If survivors can relax, than so should killers. All in the appropiate mmr region. So that sweaty people are matched with sweaty people and relaxed ones with relaxed ones.
7 -
There are no doubt survivors that just give up at the slightest inconvenience. And it's laughable.
But telling people to get better won't help, especially because that is by far not the only problem. There is no getting better when going against a camping and tunneling killer. It's just 0 fun, period. Instead, camping and tunneling need to be nerfed, then killers will also have to learn to play better and not resort to camping and tunneling.

OK this is such an awful mindset.
Imagine getting into a match, where one side is clearly overpowering the other side and when someone says, I give up I want to move in hopes to find somebody closer to their skill level, you take offence because you want make them upset. That is so toxic. Its amazing, how people go on and on about bully squad this and 4 man SWF that. When a killer says, I'm not enjoying myself, people rush to their defence and tell them how hard it is. But if a survivor who just want play for a bit before they got sleep and encounter a fully stacked killer and they just say "I give" everyone gets so outraged by it.
The fact most of you are just giving killers free wins because you instantly give up at the start is stupid. Just because you went down fast doesn't mean everyone else will nor does it mean we cant still win.
Fine, but do you know what going down instantly does mean, if that killer chooses too camp you, not only are you almost guaranteed to die, but your teammates are unlikely to finish their generators before that survivor on hook dies. That killer is extremely likely to win, and everybody knows it. Now if a killer chooses to play properly, then yes a 10 second down is not a guaranteed win by any means. But as so many killers say so, they don't have to. They can paly however they want cause its not against the rules.
It's a team game,
No it isn't. If DBD was a team game, then survivors would be scored as a team. They are not. They are scored individually. Survivor is an individual based game, where you cooperate with others, until you don't.
stop throwing everyone's game because it didnt go your way. Learn to stick it out and learn from your mistakes.
Imagine saying that to so many things over the years of DBD.
Insta flash lights
Brand new parts
chain loops
infinites
Complete sabo.
Imagine telling a killer to not DC and to just improve, when survivors were using boil over in the RPD library. Because using boil over in the library is not an exploit. That was using the perk as intended, just really well. Seriously, the audacity of some people, to be like just improve, just get better. Oh but here is the list of 500 things I want nerfed, but that's different because I find it hard. There are may problems in DBD. Things that are just miserable for survivors and killers and I don't blame anyone for giving up against it. But its so infuriating, when people try to guilt players into remaining in unwinnable matches just to flex.
10 -
I don't generally give up unless its one of three things. My friend got killed, at that point I don't care anymore, just want to get out of the game to get into the next match with my friend. If there is is more than 1 gen left, I'll die on hook, if there is 1 gen left I might finish it. If its trickster, cause I just don't play against him. Or if someone DC's at 4+ gens, cause the game is over and I don't want to do a 3v1 at 4+ gens.
Most killers my friends play against don't care about our fun, why should we care about anyone elses but our own? Were playing a game together, if someone decides to end there fun early by tunneling or camping them out... Why should they just have to sit there and wait, when I can die and move to the next round?

"Fine, but do you know what going down instantly does mean, if that killer chooses too camp you, not only are you almost guaranteed to die, but your teammates are unlikely to finish their generators before that survivor on hook dies. The hook timer is shorter than the 5 minute penalty you'll get for DCing.
Just wait it out regardless, if the killer camps you, so what, the longer you hang on the more time your team have to do gens or potentially save you.
0 -
Well, it is not casually anymore for survivors. If you play with low level teammates, it is very likely for the killer to tunnel/camp the weakest surv at 5 gens to ensure a 4k.

>When a killer says, I'm not enjoying myself, people rush to their defence and tell them how hard it is. But if a survivor who just want play for a bit before they got sleep and encounter a fully stacked killer and they just say "I give" everyone gets so outraged by it.
I can say with very high levels of confidence neither side tends to give a crap about the other side in the middle of the game. I've had games as killer where I've tried my best and just got absolutely nowhere, they thrashed me, and I just want the game to be over so I'll head to the basement and stare at the wall. Over 90% of the time they'll take their sweet time leaving and wait the entire 2 minutes of EGC, and at least half the time they'll come find me and try to bait me into playing more when it's blatantly obvious I just want the game over (and to note I've alt tabbed and am watching something in the other monitor at this point so I'm not willing to engage.) It's a rare situation where I see people leave quickly, even if I open the exit gate myself first before exiling, and I can count on one hand the number of times I got a "pity kill" to EGC.
On the flipside, there are matches as survivor where I'm solo and I keep getting insta saved and then my rescuer vanishes so I get tunneled, which to be clear isn't the killer's fault at that point, rather my altruism lemming teammate, and frankly I'm just done with the game. I can think of exactly one time where the killer realized how done I was and decided to give me an extra chance. Billy on Torment Creek back in 2019. I still remember that game fondly. He still killed me, but he opted to not take the easy kill and let me get some points before an organic chase happened later.
Now, to be clear, I don't think the other side should be in charge of your fun, but I also think that saying the majority baby one side and not the other is absolutely untrue. Most players don't give a crap if the killer's having fun, or if the survivors are - they want to have fun and dammit they're going to. Helps to make your own fun and stop taking the game so seriously, it's helped my mentality with this stupid game by quite a bit, if I'm being honest. That being said, giving up immediately as _either side_ is a dick move to the other four players, and one bad chase for you doesn't define the whole game. You agreed to play when you queued up, being unhappy the first minute didn't go your way to the point of quitting's a bit much. But if the game's clearly over for you, then I think it's reasonable.
3 -
It does, you just need to learn a different set of skills other than "run every object 3 times then move onto the next object" and "hold shift w and predrop pallets". Play Omega blink Nurse yourself until you start going against players that have learned how to deal with it and you'll see it's not this boogeyman lazy people make it out to be.

On a tangent this reminds me of the recent Veritasium video that talks about the sorts of things you need in order to become a true expert in a field. Time spent doing something is a factor obviously, but even if you spend thousands of hours that alone doesn’t make you an expert. For example, almost everybody has driven cars for thousands and thousands of hours but that doesn’t make them experts. Another factor is you have to be constantly pushing yourself to practicing things that are difficult for you to accomplish. So expert driving practice requires driving in bad conditions or high speed or offroad, etc.
Applying this to DbD then playing the game frequently alone won’t make you an expert, you need to be playing against opponents better than you and in games where you are at a disadvantageous setup or with survivor allies who are weaker than the killer you’re facing, etc. If you win every game because you’re mainly facing easy opponents you won’t improve much, most improvement comes from learning from your mistakes and losses.
So basically if you really want to be a top level expert DbD player you should be playing a lot AND playing a lot of “sweaty” matches where you felt like you had an uphill battle to win. If you’re just winning because the opponents are weaker than you then you aren’t improving much.

So, this post is basically an inflated way to say "Lulz Git Gud Solo survivors".
Very helpful.
2 -
But that hasn´t changed since release. Low rank killers have had the same behavior for years.
0 -
I absolutly second that! Either both roles hard, or both roles easy. Either both roles competitive or both roles casual. But it was sweat fest for survivor before, killer is depending on team. Now it's exactly, LITERALLY, drink and chat with killer and complete hellhole for survivor.
Note to anyone: please don't tell about MMR, I'm on low MMR (survivor definetely) and I don't care, I want just to play. Not to win, TO PLAY!
But your streameress is completely wrong. Now I definetely CAN eat, drink, chat, clean room and take a shower while playing surivor. Because you in a given timespan you 40% in the lobby, 10% doing gens, 5% chase and 45% dangling on the hook. Yes, I can stop eating and drinking for that 5% time 😀

Ah but you and a lot of people are forgetting one important thing.
PEOPLE ARE NOT BOTS
They are not AI who have to follow the laws of robotics and say "5 is bigger then 2. These are real people outside of a computer screen. We are just talking about straight disconnecting correct, well people will disconnect, and then walk away. Go do something else. Why would they, drag out their loss, in an incredibly frustrating way just so they can get in a match 3 minutes faster, when they can just disconnect and leave. Maybe they come ack in 5 minutes after a break, maybe not, either way its way better for people's mentality to disconnect and then walk away for 5 minutes. Do something else for a bit and choose to come back if they want to. But people are not going to drag out their deaths so their teammates might stand a chance of winning when, A they get nothing from this, and B if people feel the need to disconnect they likely want to take a break anyway. Not many people sit there with their mouse hovering over the start match button waiting for the time to go off. They leave, do things, some times they come back, some times they don't. And people take issue with that? Seriously if you take issue with somebody removing themselves from DBD. That's just.. not a good mindset.
1 -
Ah yes, let's compare entitlement survivors who got downed by the killer out playing them to even as you stated "Expoilts" and things which actually broke the game such as infinites.
Yeah because that makes sense, going down to a legion basic attack is the same as expoilts or actual infinites! Silly me! All these killers expoilting hitting survivors grr!
1 -
What's not a good mindset is "screw everyone else, this game didnt go exactly how I wanted so no one gets fun"
That is just selfishness and entitlement and the worst mindset physically possible to have. You're expecting everything to go your way or you'll happily ruin it for everyone else.
No doubt people with that mindset would complain about others ruining your fun. Camping, tunneling, DCing, sandbagging, certain killers/perks...
0 -
This is exactly what I am talking about. The way people try to guilt players into staying in matches with one side overwhelming the other. Infinites was not an exploit. Using boil over on RPD was not an exploit, doing 4 gens in 3 minutes is not an exploit. None of these sorts of things are exploits but undoubtedly ruin a game. Maybe you have the special integrity to sincerely play a match with survivors completely overwhelming the killer, but the fact is the majority of players don't. They just want to try to find a fun match. That is perfectly acceptable. And I love how its now that people say "OH WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE COMUNITY." I was advocating for proper gaming ethical rules since 2017 and you know what people said. Don't tell how to play." Which has remained the mindset for years. Now its reached a point of such extremism that nobody cares about anyone else's enjoyment, and the only reason you and anyone else like you pretends to care is because your matches are personally affected by it. Now you you pretend like there should be rules in place on how to play to ensure fun is maintained.
I have explained , that people not regularly disconnecting every night, they disconnect once and either stop for the night or come back later. But they are not disconnecting any more then 3 times in a few days, the penalty does not allow for this. There is no issue with players giving up, and you only want to make it worse, so you can trap people in matches so you can dominate them.
Just no.

I get it, people are human, they have emotions, they ragequit.
That doesn't mean ragequitting isn't a ######### thing to do. That doesn't mean you shouldn't feel ashamed to DC.
Learn to control your emotions better. Learn to take the game less seriously.

I've had matches where I was hooked twice in quick succession in the early parts of a trial and still escaped. Sometimes, not so much. But this is absolutely riight: people don't get any better by quitting; they just get more frustrated and get stuck.
2 -
The real issue with this game is the players 90% of them think they are mvps and in reality they are scrubs. I'll admit there are toxic killers. That said survivors are the biggest issue. For example maybe if you play Leon and im in your match well you are just sol no saves for you...now people say play how you want but my actions cause the match to go off the rails. You don't know why I'm not saving you. You just know you might get one hooked. And that just one example. And yes it could be anything from a actions you make, to a character you picked or i don't like xyz shirt.
Post edited by Cardgrey on2 -
Also in that example.. to you it looks like the killer stomped us maybe even op...
In reality I don't care about your fun. Don't care if you get one hooked. And so on over a shirt your wearing lol
It fell apart over my actions not yours not the other 2 or even my buddy Bubba. But you don't know that. Same thing if I decide I don't want to work on gens and I wanna play hide and go seek with Bubba lol my goofing around could cause a early hook causing someone to go for a save and have a possible 2nd down. (Honestly it's a no win for you...) and I'll heal do some totems and mess with said killer.
It's a 3v1 only thing is saving me might buy you a few mins.
I think that most of the issues on this game come from this . Not all but most
0 -
It should be a team game, but it isn't really. It's 4 people sharing a goal of escape. Right now the reward for escape is 5k bloodpoints, and the penalty for going down fast in a match is a match with less than 15k blood points....or roughly 5k less than a match where you can do gens, chases, and unhooks.
There is literally no incentive at all to stay in the match. Survivors have instant queues and a the next game has the chance of a profitable and fun match...why wouldn't the survivors dc or suicide?
To fix it, they should make victory a team condition. Doors get powered while you are in the match, all survivors present (dead or alive or dangling from a hook) get 10k blood points. If any survivor walks out the gate, another team bonus of 5k blood points. Keep the gen's, unhooks, and chase points as personal rewards. Ideally, half of the reward is from personal achievement and the other half is from the team.

It's a video game. If the killer is slugging everyone and/or tunneling off the hook or survivors are trying to alert the killer to your location because they think it's hilarious, I'm leaving. I want to have fun not help stroke the fragile egos of shut ins.
