Why was Thanatophobia nerfed?
It was a very good perk not just on Plague and Legion but overall and synergized great with particular builds so i dont understand why they would nerf it after it received a buff.
Can anyone tell me or speculate why?

Basically, Thana is a psychological perk - it doesn't do all that much, but that little red icon plus the gen times buff gave people a convenient scapegoat.
It's still going to be pretty fearsome on Legion and Plague.

I thought they wanted it to be used on more killers, the entire reason behind the buff.
I guess plague and legion got to much value from a buff, so they decided to kill the use of it on every other killer.
1 -
Better question is why it was buffed when it would be allready buffed by base gen taking 10 sec extra.
23 -
Not it's not. It's significantly worse even on Legion and Plague.
0 -
It's worse, but still strong. Especially on Plague, as it basically forces an overcleanse strategy which is a lot more fun to play around than the 'never cleanse' groups.
2 -
Now thanatophobia useless , hoping it will get buff in a future.
1 -
It was a overbuff... 10 more seconds on each Gen then add in the slowdown of Thana (and Dying Light) and you get "forever" builds
If they just buffed the base Gen regression... they could've left Thana where it was

What so thana was fine and didn't need nerf? I think they should make it back like it was before update now it's too bad and only viable on plague. It can be usable just barely on legion if you bring right add ons. But for everyone else it's useless. They should rather change it first injury -6% slower repairing. Second injury -5% slower and third injury -4% and everyone being injured -3% so then it would be worth on other killers not just on plague.

I do like that change... not going to lie
But on the other hand... If they did buff the base Gen regression then we wouldn't see that much 2+ Gen regression perks being used

Because Plague and Legion could consistently keep all four survivors injured. There was really no need to buff Thana in the first place because they increased gen times to 90 seconds from 80 seconds.
All they had to do was revert Thana.

I have absolutely no reason at all to use new Thanatophobia over Corrupt or Sloppy Butcher! I hope so too but doubt it.
Thats not a good enough reason plus it depends on the situation.
Yeah i like your suggestion for Thanatophobia! I couldn't believe it got nerfed and my gen defense builds or Thrill builds are completely useless now. Im not using Dying Light outside of Plague bc its too risky to use.

I use 3 slow downs usually at least and one aura reading perk. I do sometimes meme builds but they are for fun not for winning even I do usually win still.

It's ok on Plague now b/c it "encourages" survivors to cleanse but that's it. Even on Legion it's lackluster. Rarely will all 4 survivors stay injured so killers won't get the 20% slow down. t's ok but there are better perks in my opinion all other killers can run in it's place for more value.
I agree with some previous comments, it was psychological. thana wasn't that bad and easily countered by just healing. which most survivors do anyway at the first opportunity.

Because people didn't like that the only two killers who ever have a use for it actually got value out of it, so they nerfed it so that nobody gets value except for those two, and they just don't get as much as they did before the nerf.
so in other words, it got reworked to be more meta, then immediately nuked from meta potential instantly. The fastest of "shakeups."

It's a dead perk now with its current state. Before the perk over hual and gens being increased it was usuable on any killer with Legion and Plague being the strongest users.
Now it's useless your better off running any other slow down there's no game where your gonna have all 4 injured even vs a Legion. Plague maybe since it'll still make survivors want to cleanse to give Plague her red power.

Hey, the players don't get to decide how perks get changed. But rework Plague and Legion to not take health states for free by their powers, and we can buff Thana once more.

....Or just actually put in a thoughtful limitation that revolves around them specifically, like say having it be as strong as it used to be but having deep wounds not count toward the injured count? or even broken counting for half the %? You don't need to entirely rework whole killer powers just to limit synergy, they already do it all the time with stuff like perks requiring basic attacks for on hit procs.

What would y'alls thoughts be if they reversed the stacking of Thana?
Gen speeds debuff by 20% when all survivors are at full health.
For each injured or dying survivor, the gen speed debuff is reduced by 5%
Essentially, the perk would be designed to help provide pressure to killers severely lacking it, and then deactivate when the killer already has immense pressure. This would in turn make it weak on Plague, but I've never understood why a killer who has everyone injured needs EVEN MORE pressure. Everyone being 1 health state away from death should be pressure enough, no?
This could stack really well with Sloppy, so that survivors can't 99% heal themselves as they crank gens.
1 -
that would be hilarious to see vs a 4 man no mither/rush thyself/resiliance squad 😎
I do definitely agree with the idea of survivors starting weaker than they are now, but also losing less strength as the match goes on. Unfortunately for ideas like this, there are plenty of good players who don't mind staying injured, and can still waste a ton of time while doing so.

To each there own

With the old Thana you could simply tunnel someone out of the game and still keep the benefit of 15% slower gens which made the game near impossible with anything less than four Survivors.
It's basically the same as Corrupt Intervention shutting off when a Survivor is downed.
I'd guess this was the reason why it got the nerf that it did.
0 -
It was a knee jerk reaction after survivor mains cried about it. Nobody who played both sides thought Thanataphobia was overtuned on anything but Plague or Legion. And neither of those killers are top.
5 -
Well after this game i just had i pretty much dropped Plague and Legion as well bc im not using these weaker mid tier killers without Thanatophobia the way its supposed to be...
Oh well, i've been playing more Pig as she is a much stronger killer in the current iteration of the game.
I cant believe how much they butchered this perk! Totally unusable and not worth a perk slot not even on the two killers mentioned above! For me anyway, way too much work to use non Thana Plague, done!

Not just nerfed, absolutely obliterated and demolished into the ground
0 -
Yes, cause that 2% they added when they made it 22%, that extra 2% was SOOOO game changing, about 0.2 seconds of a game changer
1 -
Also add in regression perks and yea... and pressure
0 -
You mean all of the other regression perks that got nerfed? Literally close to all of them
1 -
Overcharge was buffed...
But again they should have buffed base Gen regression... instead of adding 10 charges to Gens
I agree with you on one hand but on the other I don't see Survivors wanting the change to last any longer then it needs to
1 -
I mean, was overcharge every considered a "slowdown" I personally never looked at it like that, I just saw it as an added bonus
But I guess yeah, I could consider the new one a slowdown, cause it actually does it's job well, lol
0 -
This the only time I ever hated seeing it was on a legion(which i will admit is hypocritical of me as i use it on legion) and plague when teammates never over cleanse
0 -
Thana got nerfed because of salt, whining, classical nerf reason
5 -
The devs had a kneejerk reaction when they said they wouldn't have kneejerk reactions anymore. It adds 5.7s to a gen at 3 stacks btw so basically impossible to get value on any killer that isn't nurse/plague/legion and even then there are tons of healing options nowadays that should never allow killers to get 4 people injured realistically.
1 -
Demolished, obliterated, butchered yea all the same thing!
0 -
And then while it was in the ground, relentlessly punched and kicked, and than spat on to pour salt in it's wound, lol
0 -
I still run it on Legion and Plague, not as good as before but still decent. On every other killer there are better slowdowns.
0 -
Right once I get it I will be using it along with the addons that lower the amount of cleansing pools.... muwhahahagaha. Yes give me my power again
0 -
Personally i think Plagues power is overrated! Also cleansing survivors doesn't equal win. It depends on you (skill level etc), the survivor levels, map and or situations
.
