If You Want Reassurance Nerfed Because Of Trolls
Then why doesn't anyone LOOOOOVE going into a 20 minute match against Legion with nothing but slowdown? Why? That's because its boring as hell and no one wants to spend that long in a match. This post is for those who try to defend a nerf by saying people will take the person hostage. Dude, no one, including me, wants to be in a match for over 20 minutes just because the killer is camping. No one is gonna troll someone on live servers. That excuse is used as a justifiable nerf is just stupid. The perk is fine. Just cancel it once the last gen is done and either rescue or leave. Someone said someone else took a killer hostage for like 30 minutes or something XD Like come on XD No one wants to be in a match with nothing but twiddling your thumbs for 30 minutes to spite a killer XD

Most people hate legion. The fact that legion exists is not justification for some other stupid game element.
Reassurance should have a 2:30 minute cooldown before it can affect that same survivor again. In other words after someone uses that perk on a survivor you cannot use it again until 2 minutes pass AFTER they had the 30 second effect of pausing the timer.

That perk would NEVER be used again. You know why Comradery is never used? Its because its used once and done. A whole MATCH for 1 specific use. No one uses it because it was useless against real campers. This is a real threat. I was playing survivor last night and we tagged a guy 4 times before the killer FINALLY left the survivor. 4 times. If you don't want to apply pressure to gens, fine but you won't get a free kill that easily. Camping can be unlearned by this perk. This dudes' profile had nothing but camping comments lol. We made this guy finally LEAVE a hook for the first time in this person' life lol. If they change it in any way except for adding a way to stop it from working as the last gen is done, NO ONE will use this perk.

literally the only thing that needs to be done to the perk is allowing the hooked person the ability to cancel the effect by pressing a button. problem solved for the trolling and killers don't get a bs nerf on probably the best anti camping perk we've had.
11 -
No, it should not. You should start another chase and down and snowball, then you'd never have to worry about reassurance.
11 -
So… kinship/comraderie? The perk will not meaningfully address camping with the nerf you have in mind. It’s scary your reply got two upvotes…

On one hand, you can't balance the game around trolls. Reassurance is fine, frankly it should be a general perk not DLC though.
However...
Tell that to the TTV group that refused to finish the final gen and just memed on me on Eyrie using a sabo to turn one spot in the map perma unhookable.
Or the group that sent me to DDS with a last second flashlight switch and stalled the game out forever with double saves.
Or the multiple groups that have decided to play hide and seek to stall the game out when they 3gen themselves.
Or the people who abuse the unhookable spot on (redacted) and (redacted) and force you to bleed them out.
I'm not even going to go into the week of hell where every third game was a group running pre-nerf Boil Over, Exponential, Unbreakable etc. with an RPD or IWOM offering specifically to force you to slug camp them out. You can go back a few months and find dozens of threads on this.

Only allowing it to be used once per hook state should fix the abuse problems.
2 -
I would add that PLUS disable this perk after the last gen is done but I completely agree! Another user made a good point. For the survivor being hit with the perk, they should get 500 points in survival for each ding so they don't get screwed out of points.

Only campers are complaining about Reassurance
11 -
It should be impossible to blind a killer thats grabbing someone out of a locker
0 -
I know for a fact that there will be squads who will use it to grief the solo player
13 -
There are lots of 'shoulds' in this game, unfortunately.

^
This oh how funny we're wasting a killers time by holding this survivor hostage
3 -
See you back here once you get trolled on hook by a swf.
4 -
As a facecamping God, I am not concerned at all. It needs buffs if they want to stop a giga chad like myself.
4 -
i agree my man.
1 -
As a basement bubba I'm not complaining about the perk and willing to stay in the basement with my guest as long as possible lol
As a survivor player I can see being held hostage by a fellow survivor not the killer
1 -
I don't want it to be nerfed because of trolls, or nerfed at all, I want the capacity for it to be used to do stupid ######### taken away.
"Dude, no one, including me, wants to be in a match for over 20 minutes just because the killer is camping. No one is gonna troll someone on live servers"
That's just not true. It doesn't happen often but the last 2 survivors taking the game hostage by hiding and climbing in and out of lockers until they're found is a thing that happens. EGC had to be made because the last survivor could also do that solo. When I first started before EGC existed and I got a 0k I'd sometimes put the controller down, go prepare and have dinner, come back 40 minutes to see the match was still ongoing. The playerbase has no shortage of weird children with a lot of free time.

you will ABSOLUTELY, within like the first hour have someone doing that to you, the same dopamine rush as camping, but with a survivor

But if they use this perk correctly, you will get one kill at best. Will you be happy with that?
2 -
Can't you still attempt to unhook yourself even if the timer is paused?
0 -
I prefer that over not being saved at all
0 -
It doesn't matter, if people want to grief they can grief right now. They don't need a perk for it
2 -
Dbd will never please everybody, just like any other game
One day a bunch of people is complaining about how survivors are killing themselves on the hook. The other day the complaints are about not being able to die. It's crazy.
4 -
People 100% would troll someone for that long. Old hatch standoffs proved that.
That said who says reassurance need to be nerfed to fix it?
Put the cooldown on the hooked person instead of the perk.
Then atleast 10 seconds will pass from the hook timer so it stops it from being used for an hour and you can pause multiple hooks in case the killer gets 2 hooks close to eachother
Win win

I like it because it finally kills facecamping bubba. Because you can actually make the hook last long enough for the bubba to lose 5 gens. Most bubbas get 1-3ks because gens just take to long now. Then they have noed to guarantee another kill. Reassurance can actually stop that on its own. That's why i dislike it being once per state.

I don’t want the perk “nerfed” because of trolls but I do think it would be a good idea to make it so instead of the perk owner triggering it the hooked survivor gets a prompt to trigger it. That way the effect is opt-in instead of involuntary for the hooked survivor.
3 -
I mean the multi level nerfs it against bubba to. Since on some maps you can trigger it above the basement. Allowing you to not get in the bubbas face to do it. I don't know really how you'd fix it without it losing a good bit of anti-camp value. Personally i don't camp and i like when i chase survivors so if they wanna make the hook take longer. More chases for me. But i do get the other side of it to.

I was going to say the simplest way to fix this is to add skillchecks, just at a slower rate. So they can still miss them and die on hook. But I believe teammates can actually keep spamming and cancelling the unhook action to prevent these appearing. So scrap that idea.
I'd say the next best way is to allow the hooked survivor to cancel the effect by pressing the active ability button, e.g., E.
1 -
id rather they just let you press a button and turn it off then have the skill checks still on.
0 -
Either opting out or opting in is fine by me, they’re basically equivalent.
1 -
My only issue with the Perk is that it allows people to loop you around a hooked player without being punished for it.
IMO the Perk should pause its effects while the Survivor carrying it is in chase and then resume normally as soon as they escaped.
That's all I would change, otherwise it's a really great Perk.
0 -
Yea the only issue I had with your suggestion is that perhaps the hooked survivor may not notice the prompt, especially if they are about to die with the very small skill checks as they'd have to concentrate on hitting those.
2 -
That’s true, opting out errs on the side of them staying on the hook versus not.
0 -
I am not against, I just think its useless
0 -
Oh there is plenty of reasons
1 -
Not sure they need to nerf its affects. Just make it so that the killer has to be within a certain radius of the hooked survivor for it to activate. Stops the rare chance a griefer may want to piss about for the sake of it, and means when it is used there's a good reason for it.
It'll still nuke camping.

I've been playing for a couple years and been faced with a troll team mate a small handful of times. I'm not concerned in the slightest. This perk doesn't prevent someone else from unhooking me anyway, so good luck to anyone wanting to grief with it. Most players want to play a serious game.
0 -
Every perk that works within X meters operates with the same ruleset and works three dimensionally. I'm not sure they could change a single perk to only work on the same floor without changing the entire ruleset.
0 -
Whats the point of survivors stopping hook timers if you are not there? Just don't camp
0 -
If it can be abused it will be abused.
I already know there will be cruel 3-man SWFs who will have 2 or 3 people running Reassurance and their sole goal will be to have the solo on the hook and for them to see how long they can keep them on the hook in first state. They'll think it's funny and laugh like schoolboys as they do it and they'll think they're clever. They might not even do generators. They'll have 1 person running the killer while the other 2 keep Reassuring the hooked survivor.
If it can happen it will happen. And in DbD it will happen multiple times every day unless they change Reassurance.
2 -
His normal shock works on one floor, but his big one works on multiple floors which is why Gideon is such a good map for him.
Reassurance should be limited in such a way that it will pause the timer for no more than a combined total of 60 seconds.
Once those combined 60 seconds have elapsed, the perk cannot be used on that survivor anymore.
0 -
And they can do that without any perk if they want
0 -
This can be fixed by giving the option to ######### on second hook stage. Could be something like pressing the space bar a couple of times in a few seconds as if you were missing skillchecks, done.
In my opinion, the perk should focus on keeping the game as healthy as it can for people playing as "intended" and not being changed because players can abuse it wrong.
0 -
In the scenario I provided the hooked survivor doesn't even make it to second hook stage. Two survivors can easily keep a hooked survivor on the hook and in first stage indefinitely. Especially on the Game.
If a perk can be so brutally and easily abused, that's just bad perk design.
The perk should have a 60 second cool down minimum. It would still be possible to keep a survivor on the hook indefinitely, but it wouldn't be easy.
0 -
Not 100% sure but you can still attempt an unhook in the first stage
And again, if people want to grief, they can grief, they don't need a perk to do so
1 -
This is the part that makes me smile.
The unimaginative hordes praising the perk and branding the ones not liking it "camping killers" when with a bit of foresight I already know that, in this state, I'm unlikely to play survivor ever again.
Let's see who cries if it goes live.
