To any mechanical experts, how hard would it actually be to repair a generator without tools?
Title. It could take a day rather than 90 seconds but were in a video game.

Depends on what's actually wrong with the generator. Half the difficulty in any repair job is getting the correct parts to fix it. Could take months to fix some of them if parts are backordered. Would honestly be OP if they were German engineered generators. Survivors wouldn't be able to figure out how to fix them on their own.

It won’t even be enough to have the right parts, there is a special tool for pretty much any part that you also have to order 🤪

It really depends on whats wrong. My brother used to have a pretty good side hustle dumpster diving home depot for warranty returns, couple hours work on average on generators and air compressors, and ready for resale.
Now keep in mind the entity probably isnt too creative and seems to generally like the idea of fair play so probably does simple damage to wiring and part alignment instead of straight breaking stuff.
The survivors are also on an infinite loop so if they remember past trials and its generally the same issues it could be pretty fast.

Realistically it could be a pain to even get to the part that's broken without at least a screwdriver or the right wrench. Most covers are screwed on.
They're just mcguffin objectives.

Been working on German cars for going on 10 years. I know the pain very well. Sometimes the instructions just say "fashion a tool and remove"
