Should Discordance be reworked?
Discordance currently allows a killer to always know when two or more survivors are on any generator at any time. What makes it stand out from many other killer tracking perks is that it has a very common activation condition (this one completely in the survivors’ hands), that is essentially map-wide with no cooldown or restrictions.
What if the perk gave aura reading of the survivors on the gen, instead of highlighting the generator in yellow and giving an explosion notification? It would allow counterplay with Object of Obsession and Distortion. It could also have the aura reading linger for three or so seconds after the survivor stops co-op repairing, to give it synergy with Lethal Pursuer. And should it have some sort of cooldown, to bring it more in line with other tracking perks similar to it?

discordance is fine.
it somewhat counters prove thyself, and smart survivors will notice its existence and play around it (doing gens solo, i.e. being even more efficient)
doesnt need a cooldown, doesnt need additional limitations to its activation. it should be left well alone

I think it's perfect as is and shouldn't be changed. I'd be very sad if it got changed
Having the information doesn't always mean you'll be able to do anything with it.
Despite that, Discordance is the perk to pick if you are doing what people refer to as macro play; trying to maximize the most 4v1 pressure as possible and pressuring 2 survivors at once is an amazing way to do that.
It's also amazing for breaking chase, if I'm chasing somebody and they run to a strong structure away from the gens, if Discordance goes off I have an immediate plan for how to continue.
But I will say Discordance is one of the best information perks right now because of prove thyself becoming even more common. I have been running it on a lot of my killers lately and it provides me such great information. Typically survivors stack on gens in the early game and in the late game and it's so clutch

So I wouldn't mind either option . If they kept it exactly as is then that's cool, but if they decided to basically show auras while on gen and then like 3 seconds after that would be even better .

You're complaining for the sake of complaining. There's nothing wrong with Discordance. It only activates if the Survivors allow it

I actually kinda really like this suggestion

Bro imagine 5 seconds of aura reading after they let go of the gen with Lethal on like Nurse or Blight or something that legit sounds like fun

I cant tell if this is sarcasm Karu

I didn’t complain at all, and there’s no 100% sure way for survivors to know a killer has it (without cheating). They can simply suspect it. I didn’t say to outright nerf the perk, but rather to change it.

Oh no that genuinely sounds like fun to use. And you'd be able to guess it's in play easier, either via perks or just general game sense, so you'd also be able to split up on gens more when it's in play so my solo games would actually improve too.
I think Discordance is perfectly fine as it is, but I also wouldn't be opposed to OP's suggestion

Lethal Pursuer is already Busted enough as is you don't wanna make Discordance give survivors auras and be another excuse to just slap Lethal into every build...

I just want to add on as well - the perk has various forms of counterplay:
Splitting up efficiently
Only stacking on gens when you know the killer is committed/occupied
Using stealth
To play around it, you do need to recognise that it might be in play but Discordance is far from the only perk you have to guess is in play and it's an information perk
Not all info perks need to be aura perks IMO
2 -
Also, doesn't discordance already linger for a few seconds after people left the gen?
I've been playing it a lot and it seems that way.

This is true for a bunch of perks for both roles though
Kindred for survivor, it's basically impossible for Killers to know it's in play if they're near a hook
Or Whispers, a tracking perk that can completely nullify stealth if used correctly
Call of Brine is hard to know about as well, while yeah the killer has to kick a gen - unless you're super observant you're not gonna know right away that it's there
Blast Mine/Wiretap are also good examples too.
2 -
you could say the same about surveillance. doesnt mean surveillance needs to be nerfed.

These all have limitations of some kind, though. Kindred: only while the survivor with it equipped is hooked. Doesn’t help against undetectable killers. Whispers: simply tells you a survivor/survivors is/are nearby or not, and not anything more than that. Call of Brine: as you said, requires a killer to damage the gen. Blast Mine and Wiretap are limited to one generator at a time, with activation and deactivation conditions.
Discordance just is what it is all match, up until five generators are fully repaired anyways.

Discordance is perfectly fine as it is.

Discordance requires two survivors to stack on the same gen. That's the limitation. Survivors don't need to stack on gens.
Killers hooking survivors is about as common as that, if not more so
Call of Brine requires you to kick a gen to get the 200% regression, but it also has 60s of non-aura based information for good skill checks which are also extremely common
The point is that a lot of perks you have to guess are there, none of the perks I listed are super oppressive or strong but they have effects you just have to guess are there. Discordance is the same, but at least with Discordance the killer can make it obvious it's there - I can't say the same for other perks.
2 -
True, but Surveillance also has limitations. Discordance does not, as long as survivors are co-op repairing gens (which is basically going to happen every match at some point, especially as more generators are fully repaired).
0 -
The limitation is that it only works if multiple people are on the same gen. The counterplay is to split up.
1 -
That doesn’t work in reality (especially solo queue) and as more generators are fully repaired throughout the match.
0 -
Counter play with distortion and OoO? Of course, those perks that are never used! Why didn't I think of that
0 -
Honestly the only change I'd like is some kind of tell it exists for newer survivors to the game, it's honestly baffling sometimes how much guesswork you need to be effective and not a detriment to others in this game.
0 -
Not only does that indeed work in reality, but it is considered the optimal strategy against many Killers in general because it makes it harder for the Killer to pressure the gens.
1 -
discordance is still limited since survivors need to coop. you can say the same about bbq in that theres a pretty good chance youll get a hook, meaning it needs nerfing. or that theres a good chance a gen will regress at some point in a match, meaning surveillance needs nerfing. there is no argument that would make it a good idea for discordance to be nerfed.
0 -
Maybe give more reason for them to be run then! 😀
But really surprised Distortion isn’t more common with the buff. Infinite aura blocking is crazy!
0 -
Discordance is completely fine as it is imo
3 -
As long as Prove Thyself stays the same Discordance should as well.
1 -
If anything this perk needs a buff by removing the lingering effect.
0 -
OP is a Prove Thyself enjoyer
1 -
Yes, which is why I want my aura read for the whole time I’m co-op repairing a gen..and even up to five seconds after. 😀
0 -
Discordance is perfectly fine, its probably one of the only perks i would consider to be truly perfect, as it doesn't need any tweaks or changes
1 -
You act like there’s no counterplay to the perk when the counter is literally just splitting up. Not that hard.
2 -
Discordance users are pretty obvious to notice. They always stop everything they're doing and go straight to the gen. I'm personally fine with it, at least it's not slowdown (which means I'm not even seeing it that much).
0 -
Eh, discordance isn't really a concern though, remember, the effect lingers for ... I wanna say 4 seconds? Which if the survivors hear your TR, and they're chickens, they'll stealth away and probably get away with it by the time the killer gets there
