I love console players but can I ask you something?
Honest not here to say why you do this and that as it happens on all platforms and am sure you are sick of it, as I am too. But I just want to ask as you guys play on the controller are your binds different?
The reason why I am asking is many times when I have been down near a pallet a console player in my game would try to heal me and end up throwing the pallet. It's like when I use to play killer when crossplay came out I wanted to play killer to see what console players were like. I would be chasing some good loopers but when it comes to the shack lol I would chase them around but if they were a gen in the shack they would try and vault and accidentally jump on the gen.
So yeah I have been curious to ask for a while, and honest I love console players. There are some good players on the console.

Yeah on Xbox it’s RB for like every action. The amount of times shack gen has messed up my vault is ridiculous

Can't you change them, I mean you don't have to but if it lets you change it that be cool. If not then BHVR should look at this as it isn't fair.

Yeah they are bound to each other and there's no way to switch it. Even if you change the button layout, it switches it for all interactions.
So like healing, vaulting, working on a gen, throwing a pallet, and even solving pinhead's box are all tied to the same button with no way to separate those actions. Which is sad because there's a lot of unused buttons on console for this game.
So say you're trying to solve the box, or break chains, you can't do so near a pallet because you'll end up just throwing the pallet.

After Pinhead was released, I changed the binding after the 5,000,000,000th time I slow vaulted over a pallet instead of trying to clear the chains

There are separate settings for Actions (e.g. throw pallet, vault) and Interactions (e.g. healing, repair gen). Highly recommended to map one of these to a different button.

There's also other differences too. You can't moonwalk as survivor because of the controller to camera interaction, 360ing is a lot more difficult.
As killer you can't flick the same way the PC does, hiding your red stain is slightly trickier for mind games. Any precision killer is a lot harder due to lack of the same control over the characters. It's annoying at best

Yeah, I once saw Scott Jund talk about when pinhead came out that things were awkward on the console. I am sorry you guys have to put up with that.

I once had a team mate stuck in a bear trap under a pallet.
Using the same button I:
- Dropped the pallet
- Vaulted the pallet
- Re-vaulted the pallet back to the trapped survivor
- Tried to rescue from the bear trap
Unfortunately Trapper then appeared, whacked me, I tried to rescue again but I instead healed myself, then I went down and so did the other survivor.
Annoying thing is I knew the trap was there and made a point to avoid it.
Oh and not to forget the time I tried to rescue someone mid chase on Midwich with BT just to dive into the locker that was directly next to the hook, at full health.

Yeah, I saw them do that too... See a lot of streamers don't see this they just complain. But it's not your guy's fault with the controls you have. They should be looking after you guys as well as you are all customers. So yeah honestly was not making the thread to poke at console players as like I said I like you guys. I have a few added on my friends on dbd list just I can't talk to them unless I download a Xbox app on my pc. But yeah I was just generally curious.

This is correct, I remember it was so annoying when I used to play on PS4.
I found out that the game prioritise dropping the pallet when you stand still and healing when you move. Which makes no sense, it should at least be the other way around.
I don’t know if this has changed though, I played PS back in 2019.

So trappers, survivors down at pallets and gens near vaults are all your worst enemies. Seeing a lot about traps at pallets.

The problem is not only are actions and interactions default set to the same button so people get used to using one button for everything but also people don't realize the only actions on survivor side are pallets/vaults/lockers and everything else is an interaction so they assume the issues they have with them being the same button they can't change anyway (like thinking vault and breaking chains are both actions when one is an action and the other is an interaction).
I think it would help if 1. They were default separate buttons so it prevents people from getting used to using one button for everything and 2. Have there be like a little pop up when you highlight interactions or actions to list what they are so players can see that vaults/pallets are not the same as heal/break chains.

Question has already been answered but i'll add my personal annoyance to it too it happens to me a lot even some vaults don't happen because I randomly start doing something else!
Again same as another poster put trying to disable traps sometimes drops the pallet & pulls you into the trap even when its said disable trap on screen!
I generally crawl under pallet until it says find help then crawl out unless killer is around me.

You can change it like I have but i only did it last year because I was used to it. Kinda worried with the new secondary action button that it will mess things up again.

Yeah, it's weird how they didn't think about the scenarios when setting the controls for the console. But at least I will know in future. These days now it is hard to tell if someone is on the console. As there are a lot of epic and other platform users playing. I can tend to tell the PlayStation players when I see the globe and underscores. It be good if they put a logo instead of a globe. like I said before it isn't fair you guys need some updates too.

I rebound the button for dropping a pallet/vaulting, it's square (I think, or triangle, one of those). Rebinding that was something I did pretty early on when I discovered that problem. Otherwise, it's R1 for everything, and yeah it loves to choose pallet over heal. It's an awful default setting.

So I feel its only on the survivor side as the killer there isn't many buttons to deal with so yeah I get what you mean.

Yeah, it would annoy me to wanting to do something and end up doing something totally different. In many ways, I bet it has got you killed many times which sucks.

Yeah, the layouts sounds like they need adding more settings or tweaks if that makes sense. I mean make it so you guys can access it more easily. Also be good if it had some custom controller settings, not sure if you get what I mean. But for example; if you played some games like resident evil when you go to controls it would say layout and have a, b or c and each one will have a different controls layout. That would be good and also let the player customise it to their liking.

Yeah, as I mentioned above it is a shame there were not more features in the menus for you guys. As I do want us all to be equal and have a fair game. It isn't a fair game where one button more or less does everything and gets you killed for it.

I've changed my bindings so dropping pallets and vaulting windows is square on psn. Normally it was R1.
I'm kind of worried the devs are going to make the 2nd secondary action button be square with the new update and new perk Reassurance.

It should be R2, same as locking lockers against Dredge.

Definitely only survivor side, way more on input binding than killer. Also on killer side vaulting/checking lockers/breaking pallets is under "interactions pick up survivor" the input bindings while on survivor side pallets/vaulting/lockers is under "actions" so if you are used to playing killer and see their bindings only have one button for everything it's easy someone would assume survivor is the same without ever checking.

I think you should have more if you scroll down because skill checks and activate ability aren't showing on your list and it'd be weird that PC wouldn't have those as input binding options.

No, I just throw the pallet down so that I can inform the killer I am healing you. It is thrilling wondering if I will finish in time or not with fettered access to a resource. I am just trying to challenge myself.

R2 is using items. R1 is healing. L1 is running. L2 is crouch.
I just remembered Triangle and Circle have no key bindings yet so it's ok.

Because heal and throw pallet are bound to the same button by default. I changed mine to triangle to I can heal at a pallet.
