Sole Survivor is the new soloQ meta
We all know that in DbD skill = escapes. So, how can you play skillfully in soloQ? Just use the new Sole Survivor meta.
As soon as any of your teammates dies too early, start hiding.
Avoid the killer, because looping is not skill, skill = escapes.
Ignore gens, because gens are not skill, skill = escapes.
Wait for all your teammates to die. Don't go for saves, because unhooks is not skill, skill = escapes.
When the last of them dies, don't look for the hatch. Hatch gives you 0 MMR, so it's not skill. You need skillful escapes through the gates.
As soon as the killer closes the hatch, immediately start opening exit gates with that boost from Sole Survivor. You don't even have to do that 24% trick, just push forward and on most occasions you are fine. Especially if you have Spinechill, which will give you additional boost when the killer starts approaching you.
If nothing out of ordinary happens, you should be fine opening the gates and escaping in the killer's face. There you go, your MMR will increase since you left through the gates, you proved your skill. You might get some salt from your teammates in the end-game chat, but don't mind them, they are just jealous of your skill. Remind them that in DbD skill = escapes and nothing more and continue to your next game, as your MMR steadily keeps increasing and you will enter higher leagues.
The only serious problem you might encounter on your way to the MMR Olympus is another skilled teammate, who knows the drill and uses the same skillful strategy. You will have to outhide him somehow in order to prove you are the more skilled one in this competition.
Just remember: skill = escapes, escapes = skill.

Solo survivors need buffs. Just went against a PC Nurse running purple range and Iridescent Torn Bookmark. lol.

cool story bro

I have the distinct impression that this post is the result of one too many bad SoloQ matches

I'm going to have to try this. It's been so bad this week.

With every update, DBD devs make altruism detrimental for Solo Q players. They should be encouraging it, because altruism inspires team work. I'd go so far as to say they should give more of a BP bonus for safe end game saves to encourage not being a selfish tw*t. In fact, they should give survivors more BPs in general (hell, Killers too) to cope with their new bloodweb grind.
You know BHVR; "Great news, kids! We're reducing the grind, by making it more!". lol

yeah altruism has gone to hell but i refuse to let that stop me from saving someone even if it means i die. all that matters is getting my team out for me.

Just wait until they pair that new game-changing perk Low Profile with it! 😂
He’s referring to Sole Survivor, the Laurie Strode perk.. but in the context of solo queue.

Solo survivors do not have a META when going against a PC Nurse running purple range and Iridescent Torn Bookmark.

I think you’re confused. The OP is referring to a perk, Sole Survivor, and how it is/can be used in solo queue to escape when the rest of the survivors have died.
But to bite, meta perks help just as much against a PC Nurse than any other killer. The range add-ons are also getting nerfed/fixed next update. 🙂

A PC Nurse running purple range and Torn Bookmark is not interested in a competitively balanced game. Simple as that. I play killer on PS4 and I've played enough crossplay, PvP games to understand this. Opponent wants to pubstomp, take the easiest route, etc.

I'm the same way. I have a "no man left behind" mentality unless it's certain death. But more and more we're punished for that type of thinking. Like how Devs made it so clutch, useful perks deactivate at end game.

Sole Survivor + Wake Up + Resilience + Spine Chill = Natty skill gainz
Just remember that if they talk trash about you, it's only because they are jealous of your skill, and rightly so

I would rather die over and over than hide all game.

The solo experience seems to be sloooowly evolving into survivor vs survivor lol these sorts of perks don't help, I feel guilty asf equipping perks like Sole Survivor and Left Behind since the idea is that I'll get the most benefit when my team is dead. With Ada's new endgame perk I can see people doing full endgame builds.

Think of it this way: there's at least a 50% chance that it will be immediately apparent within the first minute of a game that it's unwinnable in solo queue. One or two teammates are so weak relative to the killer that it won't be possible to do 5 gens. There are games where two players are slugged by a Wraith before I have one gen at 50%.
My MMR was ~1800 at the Dredge release. This isn't a low ELO hell issue. Matchmaking is just that bad. The devs think putting the OW equivalent of GMs with Plats/Golds is fun. Can you blame players for running Sole Survivor and playing that way?

Post of the year

I'd like to think that the highest MMR is just a couple Claudette's running these builds, hiding all game, and sandbagging their teammates.
1 -
As far as experience goes, those Claudettes never sandbag anyone, they are the ones who get sandbagged by teammates who don't want to die alone and do it of spite.

escape = MMR and MMR = escape, but MMR does not equate skill.
"SKILL BASED" was such a stupid name to give, so many people misunderstanding purpose and logic behind it.

I look forward to playing with more skilled survivors soon!
Sole Survivor
Adreneline
Hope
Spinechill

And yet people keep ignoring my calls for survivors to be able to mori other survivors. The lost opportunities...
