It will make hitting skillchecks, flashlight saves and whatnot easier, since vsync GREATLY increases input delay. Higher framerates will further decrease input delay

What? You'll have to explain what you mean because it doesn't make too much sense.
The input is not bound to the screen refresh and you are meant to press the button/key in advance, taking into consideration the travel time for both the arrow and the button/key.
You'd have to have maybe 10 FPS to have an issue with that.

I'd rather not. VSync is to get rid of screen tearing. Uncap FPS means your system will be pushed to the max, rendering frames you cannot see. Also if you ever have any problems with this stuff and ask BHVR for support they will tell you shouldn't uncap your FPS because it's not supported.

Good tip. Just be aware that uncapping FPS can make you more prone to bugs.

You can just cap the FPS to your screen refresh rate, I don't remember how I did for DBD but it took me less than 2 minutes. The "rendering too many frames you cannot see" is a literal myth, I can only assume you have never tried high-refresh rate screens if you really believe this (or maybe you're 50+ year old). The difference is so obvious that I can tell you in 1 second if I'm on a sub-120 Hz screen just by moving the mouse cursor. Above 120 Hz the difference becomes marginal but you can still observe a minor effect it by doing online reaction tests.
And yes OP is right, turning off Vsync is one of the first critical steps you should do in every new game you install.

Do not disable vsync if you like to play Myers or Ghostface, the stalk mechanic bugs a lot when vsync is disabled

if you cap your fps properly, use nvidia fast sync or g sync that is not a problem. The benefits you get are so worth it

If you uncap your fps on a 60hz monitor you won't see anything past 60fps. The input lag will be less but if you don't cap the fps at all it will be inconsistent. There will also be screen tearing that you will need to deal with in some way and most ways come with a drawback especially if you don't have a monitor that supports certain technologies. DBD is locked to 60fps because it doesn't support past 60fps, according to technical support.

I tried fast sync on other games and i didn't like it because it caused stuttering, because it drops frames that are below or higher than your refresh rate IIRC. G-Sync you need a monitor that supports it. I just don't think it's the best option for everyone is all.

vsync only changes slightly the time the next frame is displayed to avoid tearing. At 60fps, it's 0.016 seconds.
Playing on a keyboard has a way higher delay because of the key travel time. It's shorter on a gamepad. Add to this our own latencies and skill checks always need to be anticipated.

All I had to do for DBD was set my desktop refresh rate to 120hz, that lowered the input latency for me even though the game still shows it's running at 60. If I set the desktop refresh rate to 60 then there is noticeable delay when hitting skill checks. It's equivalent to how they are on my XBox when my PC is set to 60.
It also makes spinning, turning, and interacting more responsive.

And yes DBD supports over 60 fps (on PC), I have capped it to 120 fps myself. And I will say it again ANYONE can tell the difference, it's not a cosmetic effect, the eyes CLEARLY see it. The 1st time I ran DbD I could tell it was running at 60fps within 1 second and immediatly fixed it.

Yeah if you're on a 60 hz display it's still going to look like 60 hz or have a lot of screen tearing otherwise. I've tried things like capping the frame rate but disabling vsync and still get tearing. Freesync and gsync aren't going to do anything if the display doesn't support it or VRR.
What they aren't telling you is that while I'm on a 120hz display it doesn't always make it good. I can see and feel the less input lag and smoother motion but in some games that smooth motion actually makes me feel sick. It's like having the soap opera effect on some TV's. At least to me.
60fps is kind of the sweet spot for me in most games. It doesn't have the stuttery look that 30fps puts off on my tv and doesn't make me feel nauseous or dizziness that 120 sometimes does.

Vsync does not have as much of an effect on perceived input latency as popular wisdom makes it seem. Those claiming it does haven't done a proper blind test, or even basic math. Disabling vsync is a placebo.

Just set the fps cap for DBD to 120fps in the nvidia control panel and be done with it

I did this and capped my fps to 120. Also turned anti aliasing off and turned a bunch off visual settings down.
Not only does the game feel and look amazing, it plays amazing too.
My only worry is a nuisance EAC ban.
