Unhook-Explosions shouldn't be a thing
Explosions always occur in the game to favor the Killer when a Survivor fails an action for example missing a Skillcheck while repairing a generator or while healing.
To my mind the Killer shouldn't be notified when a Survivor get's unhooked because
a.) the Survivors didn't failed while testing their skill (Skillcheck)
b.) it motivates the Killer to return to the Hook and tunnel because he can't see a difference between the Unhook and a missed Skillcheck.
c.) as Killer you can still see when someone get's unhooked by paying attention to the Hook-Symbols, it just doesn't notify him in his face.

You can do this but a good killer will notice and react very fast to it like you said in point c, just like a good killer knows what hook every survivor is on even without a counter telling them, or in the past counting to 60 seconds for DS or counting to 13 for BT. You can go ahead and remove it but I am unsure what the actual impact would be.

Your whole "Explosions always occur in the game to favor the Killer when a Survivor fails an action" is like entirely wrong because so do fast vaults, pallet drops, and a bunch of other things youre supposed to do. Surge and Eruption also cause explosions with the survivors doing absolutely nothing. Explosions happen for like 10 other reasons other than missed skillchecks and of them all missed skillcheck explosions are probably the ones I encounter the least cause who misses skillchecks anymore other than unlucky time when leaving
Overall unhooking explosions being removed would do near nothing at the high level and only effect baby players.

Well explosions because of fast vaulting also count as punishment for Survivors similar to missed Skillchecks. Because you have the choice to slow vault (no punishment) or fast vault (audio cue punishment for rushed action). But there is no option to slow-unhook or something.

They could make it so hook explosion from unhook is feature of Hangmans Trick since right now it's a pretty useless perk, especially with Awakened Awareness being added to the game.
But it'd probably just end up encouraging more killers to camp because they won't have that noise notification from the unhook.

I thought this was going to be able how the hook related bubbles can get in the way of a lot of other visual information, especially auras. That would have actually been a decent take.

Unhooking someone has a risk to it. The survivor experience is supposed to have close calls and coordination.

Remove the survivor vision-blocking black splodge whenever someone gets hooked and it's a deal.

Unhooking someone is meant to be a risk that draws attention.

I rather get rid of the big hook bubbles when you get hooked. I also want the explosions gone too, whenever I use floods of rage it blocks the unhooker’s aura.

It kind of frustrates me that they changed this. Have they ever addressed if it was intended or a bug? It messes with Kindred so much, which is considered by a lot of solo players to be necessary for their game play

Yeah I always wondered about that - the only purpose they serve is to encourage the killer to come back to the hook and tunnel.
Maybe in our near future we'll have a perk that makes unhooks silent...

Are you going to delay the hooked player icon too? The unhook explosion/notification actually makes it harder to see where the survivors went after the unhook and harder use hatchets etc.

This would change absolutely nothing. The survivor icon flashes the moment they’re unhooked, and if the killer just remembers where that hook was, he knows the exact same thing.

I just don't like notification bubbles getting in the way of seeing the survivors.

Sometimes you don't have the choice to slow vault and the best option is to fast vault to keep your speed, if someone is about to die on hook and the best way to get to them is fast vaulting things are you telling me your going to slow vault and lose a team member then save them and keep them in the game a bit longer.

The "explosions" are not just with missed skill checks it's also from Survivors doing loud actions. The whole point is when a survivor gets hooked the hook moves down a little bit while getting unhooked it pops back up to is normal position making noise that alerts the Killer

Kinda agree and am okay with them attaching the notification to Hangmans Trick though am surprised that a survivor perk doesn't exist which makes unhooks silent and makes them faster or something. True if they are paying attention they'll notice anyway but they get a loud audio cue currently so even if they are preoccupied, they WILL notice. They may not if they are busy until it's too late.
Still it's one of many things that could be done to help combat tunneling and camping so it probably won't happen :D. Obviously it's not a silver bullet and more of a band aid like reassurance but I've seen too many decent ideas get ignored.

For the life of me I don't understand why unhooking from pyramid heads cage creates a notification. You take the time to hide the cage from him, and then just give him in the info to tunnel?

Well, the whole "i can see what hook the prey goes on, no matter if my vision is obscured" greatly favours the survivors.
I dont think that the survivors should not be notified when one is hooked, it feels like a cheap cheat.
After all, they only have a gen to focus on, or healing and are not in a chase, its a lazy survivour favoring thing that should be removed.
