Killers, what are the killers you recommend to new players to prestige first?
For new players, who do you all recommend they prestige first for perks?
Figured it'd be a good idea for anyone coming in.

Otzdarva has a great video on this that he did just recently. I'd check that out as a place to start.

If you wanna go for more meta perks,
STBFL off myers.
The pain res hooks from artist.
lethal pursuer from nemmy
enduring off billy and spirit fury from spirit make an amazing combo.
brutal strength from trapper.
devour hope from hag
hex undying from blight.
there’s a couple good perks there.
2 -
pinhead for deadlock/plaything
nemo for eruption/lethal
sadako for call of brine/floods
i think the default perks can fill out the gaps that those perks leave

Depends on how you play... your strengths and weaknesses

My advice when deciding which killers to buy is always buy the ones you think will be fun to play, don't buy a killer just because it has a perk you like. You'll get way more bang for your buck getting a character you actually enjoy using versus one that sits on the shelf that you spend 1.5 million bloodpoints just to unlock their teachable perks on the killer you really use.
Of course if you already have all the killers you like to play and don't care about playing the rest, there's nothing wrong with prestiging the ones you don't play to get their perks unlocked. But especially starting out you shouldn't be worrying about buying characters for perks, buy the characters you will play first.

I gotcha, I just thought it'd be a good discussion to get ideas flowing.

Corrupt intervention - Plague
Deadlock - Pinhead
Those are the two most useful universal perks in the game.
Discordance is good in this meta - Nemesis

Discordance is legion though.

If you don't wanna pay any money? Trapper since Brutal Strength and Agitation are both decent perks.
If you want the actual good ######### though? Nemesis for Lethal Pursuer and Eruption or Cannibal for BBQ and Franklin's. The Cannibal suggestion might seem strange but people underestimate how game changing good items are and the aura reading is always good unless you're playing Trapper or Hag.

Artist for pain resonance and pentimento
Nemesis for lethal pursuer and eruption
Bubba for BBQ to locate survivors.
Deathslinger for deathman switch which synerges well with pr

Assuming basekit killers and no DLCs, I'd say probably Trapper. Unnerving Presence might be bad, but Agitation and Brutal Strength are both perfectly serviceable perks that'll help pretty much any future killer they play.
Assuming all DLCs... probably Nemesis. Lethal Pursuer is incredible for new players and pretty damn solid for everyone else too, and having Eruption unlocked later on for when you're more comfortable with managing it would be a nice bonus.
Partially it does depend on what killer that new player likes playing since they'll want teachables that synergise well, but those are pretty solid options for most killers.

Nemmy and Sadako has 2 great perks each.
And then probably artist. That gives you a pretty great base.

Oh (bad word) I didn't get the notification that you had answered me
Well let me further explain what I mean
Say you are playing the Killer you like well.... by all means get them at least to P3 (if not more) so you have addons and offerings to use while you work on other Killers
1) Find what perks you would want (which at this point is all of them... LOL) and get the Killer to P3 as well... I would start with the perks you want first then go from there
2) If you like more then one Killer then again get them up to P3 (no more then that... unless you want to get more addons and offerings)... but as you get more prestige you do kinds need to think of how you are spending your BP
3) Save at least 250,000 to 500,000 BP as an emergency... cause you never know what might happen (also save all of your Survivor Puddings until you figure out how to play the Killer and what perks you want)
ALL OF THIS IS BASED ON THE BP CAP THAT I REMEMBER (1,000,000)... I don't know if that has changed
TL;DR
1) Find a Killer to play... get them to P3 while saving all of your Survivor Puddings (and Bloody Party Streamers)
2) Figure out what perks you want... then get those Killers up to P3 (without worrying about addons and offerings) and of course if you like more then one Killer then repeat the process on the ones you like first
3) Save at least 250,000 to 500,000 BP

I normally direct them in the direction of information perks and slowdown in a general sense but no specific killer. I dont direct them to a certain killer specifically because I like to let people make choices based on their prefer playstyle and such.

If you're just starting, whatever the current meta is. By the time you finish unlocking it, half will be gutted and replaced, so if you're grinding more casually you'll never catch up anyway :)

Corrupt isnt super useful anymore. It has its moments but not huge imo and its very much a perk you need to capatalise on. If you get a down 20 seconds into the match its a wasted perk.

As a new player your gonna have to spend money or grind for hours to get the best of the perks that are locked behind a pay wall. Right now if you want to secure a 4k almost every game go for any perks that slow down generators. Onryo has a few good ones like call of brine or merciless storm.
1 -
This is so true. DBD is one of the only games I know of that actively pushes new players away.

Among the basekit Killers, I'd argue Hillbilly for Tinkerer and Enduring, both solid and reliable perks, or Wraith for Bloodhound (a solid "training" perk given how it lights up and prolongs blood on the ground).
Assuming any Killer at all, my first thought goes to Pinhead. All 3 of his perks offer a pretty good benefit that most any other Killer can make use of.
2 -
It greatly depends on how you find you like play and what family of perks complement or help you.
Two killers I can definitely recommend are artist and pinhead. Artist's pain resonance is currently one of the best no-kick regression perks on the game and pentimento is also a powerful perk that adds significant slowdown, though not on its own. Additionally, artist herself is a powerful killer that can do well in any situation, although a lot of Survivors hate her.
Pinhead's plaything is powerful hex perk that synergizes extremely well with artist's pentimento. I actually like to run pentimento, plaything and pain resonance together as standard on a lot of not stealth killers. Deadlock is a reliable, strong slowdown perk that works well in almost any build.
Pinhead himself is not that strong. A solid B tier killer that is nevertheless very fun to play with.
However if you find you want more chase oriented perk builds, then definitely clown, spirit and hillbilly are the best combination.
Clowns bamboozle is a very useful perk in any map. He also comes with pop goes the weasel, which, although significantly nerfed recently, it's definitely not trash.
Spirit's spirit fury is also a useful perk for chewing through pallets and speed up chases and deadzone creation, rancor is also interesting, though not a chase perk.
Finally Billy's enduring complements the other two perks to create an ultimate, relentless chase machine. With all three perks you can shutdown down any loop very fast.
On the killers themselves, Billy and clown are not very powerful sadly, and require significant effort to master and do well with. Spirit is weird, as it plays very differently from other killers. She can indeed be one of the most powerful killers in the right hands... Or you might suck with her.

Artist - 2 meta perks and her 3rd one is still very usable
Blight - Undying is good in any hex build and blood favour/dragons grip have their moments
Sadako - Call Of Brine is good, Floods is viable and Merciless varies from eh to amazing depending on the skill of your oponents
Pinhead - Plaything sorta needs perks to play around but can still get some value, Deadlocked is just great passive slowdown and info, Gift of Pain is also a decent passive slowdown
Those would be the top ones that have at least 3 usable teachable perks
In terms of killers you shouldnt level
Freddy - 3 awful perks, Bloodwarden can be funny sometimes at least but the other 2 are pretty dreadful.
Wraith - Bloodhound can be alright for learning how to track blood, Predator is awful and Shadowborn is just QOL perk
Nurse - Nurse's Calling is pretty ######### against the current run away to COH to heal gameplay, stridor is useful on 1 killer. thana is useful on 2 killers
Doctor - Overcharge is good but pretty much a worse Call Of Brine, Monitor can be alright and useful on some killers but overall just not worth the slot and overwhelming is just underwhelming
Pig - MYC is fun on certain killers, Dragons Grip and Call of Brine do Surveilance's job better, hangmans trick is just #########
Twins - When Oppression is your best teachable it says a lot. Their teachables are almost as unloved as them :)
Demo - If for some reason you have demo as a new player he literally has 0 teachables dont make my mistake and prestiege him hoping for jolt on everyone.
Oni - Windows of Opportunity on the side that doesnt need it, an obsession switching perk thats useless on its own and exhaust injured survivors. Not good
Pyramid Head - Once again his best teachable is already a bad perk
The rest have 1 redeeming perk or 2 okish perks that save them from being in the dont level category but dont have quite as good of a complete set as the previously mentioned ones you should level.
1 -
Pyramids Head - he is just the coolest kid on the block, Trail of Torment is fun to fiddle around with and get the drop on unsuspecting survivors, Forced Penance can punish the altruistic body blockers and his P9 helmets is just the best batch of honor any killer main could want and a pretty rare sight.

It's okay, I don't get the notifications until I sign on.
And yes it's still 1 mil for the cap.

kinda miss using trails of torment, I might use it again
