To all "Shadowborn and Lightborn are bad perks" people
![Chocolate_Cosmos](https://forums.bhvr.com/applications/dashboard/design/images/banned.png)
Oh, really? Didn't know that. Now, let me tell you why me and other people run these two perks offten / every game. It is simple.
It makes killer more fun, enjoyable experience. I don't need to 4K or 3K or any K every match. I don't need to and I don't like to sweat to play this game in general. I just want to have fun and these perks make killer games way more enjoyable.
Showdowborn - default FOV sucks. It's too short. Some people also HAVE to run this perk since there is no option in settings. Shadowborn is technicaly a settings perk in menu. I like bigger FOV because it feels good. That's it.
Lightborn - "oh you can just hug wall, etc." yea yea, but sometimes you can't, you know? Anyway, I don't like worrying about flashlight saves, locker saves, last second swichting, SWFs, etc. I just like to chill and don't care if someone will try to blind me or just annoy me with flashlight. Again, it's not great perk, you don't need it most of your games, but I just like to chill and run it without worrying "omg what if this guy last switch?", etc.
Not every killer wants to 4K every game with 4 slowdowns you know. Also Survivors should be greatfull because these perks do nothing to you and makes the killer play with less perks = aka easier time to do gens, saves, etc. instead of some of them crying about it, "It's OP" or laughing at the killer for using this perk(s).
I just like to play killer for fun. Not for 4Ks. Thanks.

If you are not playing for kills (as a Killer) you may as well not hook them and help them repair generators faster.
3 -
See I do that but they run away and won't show my Demo Puppy how to repair gens....they are being so rude.

Same but with ghost face or pig they just run i do get the odd ones now and then that will teach me how to do a gen, good thing is if they miss a skill check you can give them a little slap to tell them off lol.

Well theyre not bad perks.
But shadowborn would be better as an option. Thats been a common opinion here for years.
I guess it'd be less impactful as the improved BT survs got added.
But getting such a QoL is too much for the oh so evil killer players.

I don't remember anyone saying Shadowborn was ever bad, since for some people it's a necessity to be able to even play Killer. I just wish it was an option instead of on a perk (and the option went larger, maybe Blight would be playable)

As i always tell to the heretics:
All hail our lord and saviour Lightborn! 😎

I feel like people who complain about lightborn literally use torches as their main method of gameplay. It's not like any survivor perks really work off of torch so it's not too OP.
That said I'd probably be a little irritated if i brought in a heavy duty torch, opaque bulb and sapphire lense to find a killer playing lightborn.
Maybe they could make it so lightborn also protects the survivor against losing their item if they bring in a torch?

Of course shadowborn isn't a setting option the killers are supposed to have tunnel vision for all that tunnelling /s
Jokes aside I don't care what people use as perks just enjoy what you can enjoy and have fun
People making this game all serious and try hard need to relax and chill a bit

One day shadowborn will be made into actual FOV slider and I will be able to play killer with 4 perks.

Just yesterday someone tried to shaming me for using Lightborn and Coup on my Huntress. I was just running random perks, and both of them showed up. Told him so, but wouldn't believe me. Guess he continued rambling about what a bad killer i have to be (3k btw, the one trashtalking me sacrificed), but I just left the lobby, since I didn't care.
But it's really surprising how much trahtalking / gloating you can get just for running Lightborn. I totally feel OP here. Sure it may be useless when no one tries to blind. But it allows me to have a game without having to mind being blinded at all. That alone is a great benefit for me, esp when also considering from what impossible angles you still can be blinded. I had a game some weeks where a hacker could blind me from behind, I wonder if Lightborn would have helped there as well.

God forbid people play killer to have fun and not necessarily to 4K...

See I used that exact build against a Doc on Midwitch.......after 8 blinds and 10 pallet stuns later I got camped for some odd reason and smacked over 30 times while on hook.....they then let everyone else go.
I asked them "Did I do something to irritate you"
Thier response "You can shove that flash light where the sun don't shine"
We both laughed about it and he apologized for camping me but I did deserve it 🤣🤣🤣

They should add Shadowborn base kit, to set in options.
2 -
Well if you're aim is not to win they're good perks. Lightborn can be good perk agains't flaslight squads but has risk that once they figure you have it they just do gens.

It's a bad perk, and it's even worse because it makes game fun.

Reddit! It's Reddit's fault!

I really LOVE Shadowborn, especially on Blight and Nurse.
For me, Shadowborn should be basekit.

Most people say Shadowborn is ok, I don’t remember a lot of people saying it’s “bad”. It has a kind of useful effect and there are definitely people who use it frequently. (I like it but I don’t use it that often. 🤷♂️)
Lightborn isn’t quite as good, not because being immune to blindness is bad, but because it steers survivors away from trying for flashlight blinds at pallets and from doing risky often time wasting flashlight save attempts. Basically it’s telling the survivors “don’t mess around with the flashlights, just go do the gens”. So ironically by being immmune to flashlight shenanigans you end up making the survivors play smarter. That said I’ll use Lightborn sometimes simply because it’s hilarious when you get a hit on someone desperately trying to blind you. 😄

Shadowborn is complained about?! 😲

Shadowborn and Lightborn are bad perks. Shadowborn is nice to have. Not at all worth a perk slot. I’m with the ‘put it in options’ people here.
Lightborn is a training wheels perk for beginners. It’s fine. Serves a purpose, but you won’t need it later on.

Who said you couldn't play that way?

I lowkey love using coup de grace on huntress people just dont see that lunge coming, and its easy to save because most times you would lunge you just hatchet.

For what it's worth, especially in light of the very first response you got, I'm right there with ya as far as why I play Killer. I play it much more casually than I do survivor.

People say lightborn is for new killers. However I can remember many a game when I first started playing killer where new survivors had the worst aim with their flashlights, attempted to blind me from the back, would turn around mid chase to try and blind etc etc. So I don’t really buy that logic.
1 -
Absolutely. There are many high loops were it's difficult to hit with a hatchet (at least for a casual Huntress player like me) when the chased survivors knows how to loop it. So having some coup stacks as backup for that situations is really neat.
I generally like coup on many killers, it's one of my go-to perks when doing off-meta / Meme-builds (another one would be fire up, I really like the idea of getting stronger in the course of the match). Its so satisfying to down a survivor with a mega-lunge that they don't expect, esp. when they are exposed as well ^^.

You call it training wheels, I call it insurance against flashlight bullying. Even if I won't "need it", it allows me to have more chill rounds.

There is also the option to fake it, ie not stomping through a flashlight cone boldly and confidently, but quickly looking upside or to the ground. If you do this at pick ups they might think that they just barely missed the timeing and try again later.
Sure, survivors won't get blinding the killer score events, and clever ones will therefore see right through this facade, but it works surprisingly often.

So much for an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apparently torch works much better 🤣
