If a Steam player gets a temporary ban ...
... does it still shows on his profile when the ban has been lifted?
I was checking the profiles from the list of jerks I've reported with proof over the years (mostly blatant cheaters) and I've seen a couple of unexpected things.
I just want to know if I've wasted my time.

Temporary bans do not show on steam profiles, this is part of the reason why people think BHVR don't do anything, only permanent game bans will show.

DBD bans aren't necessarily vac ban, right?

Dead by Daylight uses EAC, so it's not possible to get a VAC for cheating in Dead by Daylight; Every single VAC ban isn't tied with or to Dead by Daylight.

I think it depends on what they hack, I've seen with my own eyes a cheating survivor get vac banned mid game it DC'D them while they were spamming themselves on and off the hooked animation, clicked on the profile and it said zero days since last vac ban lmao

I do disagree with that; Dead by Daylight uses EAC, VAC isn't present in Dead by Daylight.
It sounds like a case of stolen account to me; You know.. The usual phising URL addresses and then getting the account. Once acquired, playing some VAC secured games with F2P cheating softwares and getting banned right-away.. And then getting into some other games that the poor owner, who's very likely in desperate attempts trying to get his or her account back, has bought aswell..

But I think that bans issued by the DBD team actually show on steam. Both the support and the EAC can ban, so I guess that the former counts as steam ban.

Well my thoughts were that they hacked something like legacy or achievements where they're trying to trick steam and not the game anymore but I'm not sure how that all works ive never been banned or really even looked into how all that works

I don't know what do you mean with „Steam ban“, but in case the player gets banned, it'll show as a game ban, not as a VAC ban.

There are VAC bans and game bans. DBD would show as a game ban. I don't think you can get a VAC ban from DBD because it doesn't use VAC.
This is what the messages look like on the Steam profile:

That's what I mean. There shouldn't be any hint on steam profiles about someone cheating in DBD.
Of course people with a documented vac ban may be more prone to cheat overall and some might take that as an indication but it's nothing more.
Edit: Okay NVM I just saw the last post in the thread after typing.
I failed to stick to my own credo:
Read thread first, type later or you embarrass yourself like a moron.

If you get banned from a multiplayer game on Steam, this games Devs actually need to go through Steam and request this ban to be put in place for however long they want / need it to be. So ultimately, Steam is the one who issues the ban uppon request of the games Devs.
As a result, Steam will show any ban you received on your profile, even if it is not directly related to Valve Anti Cheat.
(At least that's how I understood it from glancing over Steams FAQ regarding game bans, which you can easily access by clicking on the "more info" button behind the notice of a ban on someone's profile - I'd provide you with a link, but that would be in german)
I have a friend who was banned by EAC for using custom ingame icons and this ban shows on his main profile to this day (it's also the only ban he ever received, which makes it easy to track).

Thank you. This explains that. The specific case was of two jerks who were playing against other survivors (repeat two-man sandbagging). I caught it on video but they don't have any game ban. I've seen game bans for other cases so I wanted to know if it was worth reporting that kind of scum or not.
I was assuming it wouldn't be a permanent ban, hence my question.

I've long thought if someone gets a VAC or permanent ban from one game they should be restricted in other online games. I can't believe people with multiple permanent bans even have an account.

No VAC bans are for games with VAC enabled servers, which is not DBD.
Other games (like dbd) show up as a "Game Ban" on the profile of the user.
