I hate leavers but something has to be done with dc penalties
I had to dc and 5 hours later I come back to this
For those who don't know - the more you dc, the longer the ban is. My last ban was 30 minutes(iirc the first ban is 5 minutes, second 15, third 30), out of 4 or 5 times I dc'd only one was on purpose, the rest were crashes. Why am I supposed to wait in a game I paid money for because of devs' incompetence?

If your game is crashing that often something is wrong with your network/hardware/game install and I would attempt to fix any of those. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I am not aware of any major bugs on any systems that regularly cause crashes to the degree that you are describing.

Because the game can't tell when it's a DC from net issues, you purposely DCing, or you pulling your Ethernet cord.
I had a issue where my ISP did updates to the network and I had rolling DCs.

if you just had to dc once, your ban would be 5 min, and it wasn't which means you just dc whenever get a chance to, Just grow up and play your games, stop making other people's games miserable. And if it's your internet, don't get into the game knowing you can't play it

This is not a failure on the devs end

If your game or internet is crashing, it means you need to either address the issue or stop playing multiplayer games until you can. (Game usually means verifying your files, internet could be your end or your ISP.) If you brute forced it enough to get that long of a ban... I mean, it's not directly your fault, but you still left a string of ruined games in your wake and want to continue to do so. The people in those games probably didn't care that you weren't intentionally leaving, just that you were gone.
And the fact that you intentionally DCed in here isn't helping your case. Leaving is way too prominent an issue right now to even think about lightening up DC penalties.

I think the penalty should be lighter for killers. Killers DCs happen way less frequently and don't ruin the game like survivor's DC do.
I'd cap the killer penalty at 10 minutes. It makes no sense to have hours of penalty when the killer could literally go AFK anyway if he didn't want to play. Also gentle reminder to BHVR that AFK killers farming shards still exist in 2022 and do not get caught, so the only thing your penalty does is make it possible to hold legit killers hostage...

Why would you want to give killers a free pass on DCs, though? That's just asking killers to shop for matches. Bad map? DC. Gens go too fast? DC. Survivors are good? DC. And then you get the trolls who'd enter matches specifically to waste survivor items and offerings. I've seen a few of these every time DC penalties have been off - they run aura perks and Franklins, smack you, and then quit.
Just because survivors aren't stuck in a doomed match when the killer DCs doesn't mean killer DCs can't and don't ruin games. Especially when survivor queue times are longer.

If you are crashing that often and still decided to keep queueing up, that is on you. Like yes, it's not your fault you crashed. But you knowingly queued knowing it can crash and ruin the game for the other 4 players.

I did not say "free penalties" I said cap at 10 minute, with queue time that is at least 15 minutes. That's far from free. Nobody will leave intentionally and wait 15 minutes just because they don't like the map.
Explain me how somebody could be stupid to reach 2 hour penalty by legit DC with the current system, when they could just AFK for the match instead. The only case you get such penalties is if you're being held hostage or have actual network issues.

Yeah, not to sound like a jerk, but this is what it boils down to. I've had rare days where my internet was on one and just stopped playing after 2-3 bootings. Just trying to force it to happen is inconsiderate.
If someone routinely has these issues they probably stick to offline games until better internet options come along. It's not fair, but it is what it is.

Yeah, it sucks for the player. Not like it's their fault their computer or internet sucks. But there's also the perspective of knowing that you're likely to crash and then queuing anyways when a crash would mess up the game for the other 4/5 players.

If my game crashes more than once then I just close the game for the day. Could be any number of things causing it, but no point in building up your penalty. Usually in my case it's my internet playing up.

I would say make the max penalty 15 minutes but not outright remove it. This community time and time again have proved themselves (guilty of this myself for horrible maps) to dc for the pettiest of reasons. A clown with pinky finger but lands a direct once every 10 bottles against you? DC

Nah, it going up to 72h is fine. There's no excuse for DCing that many times anyways. It should hurt.

I disagree, the issues can be literally random and some of them are not easy to fix. I had a problem myself and I recorded everything that happened, they trouble shot the issues and could not figure out the problem. Came out in person, nothing solved it. I had to just buy a new router and modem, and those are not cheap. Who knows what the problem was? Nobody I contacted to get it fixed.
To tell me not to play one of my favorite games for weeks of that nonsense when my internet was not even going out is just unrealistic. Literally, the internet genuinely worked, but I would get disconnected from the server.
I get you do not care about my problems, but that is a two way street fam. I only played killer when it happened regardless. Only one person cried about their free win. I feel oh so bad about it. The agony of a free win while I eat a DC penalty for a match that I could have reconnected to in literally 2 seconds if the game gave you the option. A match where I was crushing them. You would think they would just gracefully take the dub, but survivors gonna survivor.
That is the whole point of a DC penalty. I am allowed to take that risk, maybe. I do not know. They might ban me for it because it is against the rules to admit you DC'd even though the penalty is supposed to be your punishment and technically it IS a developer error because most games let you reconnect. I could do it in Overwatch right as it happened. And I have NOTHING nice to say about those devs. But at least they let you back into the match.

For reference, 1st and 2nd DC are 5 minutes. 3rd and 4th are 15 minutes. 5th and 6th are 30 minutes. Etc.
You had to DC an ungodly amount of times to get to that point lol. Tbh you should probably not play until you can upgrade your system and/or internet. The game does crash sometimes, but not nearly this much.

Regardless if you DC on purpose, or crash, you are still responsible for it. I haven't had a crash on 2 laptops and this main PC for months. Your rig and your connection = your responsibility. Fix them if needed when you play online games
You DC, you harm your team. Regardless of your reasons .
Plus you did it MANY times to accumulate that sort of DC penalty. And that hass nothing to do with the devs incompetence. That's your incompetence to play online in that way

A few months ago my internet was playing up and I DC’d several times in one day. Left it a few days as it turned out their was internet issues in my area so it wasn’t fair to other players to keep playing. Before this I’d have the occasional DC because my WiFi would just randomly drop, but that was usually only about once every few weeks so I didn’t bother addressing it.
When the issues were resolved I came back and switched to an Ethernet cable on my console instead of WiFi and it sorted everything out.
With these past internet issues the DC’s followed the same pattern. I’d get the red icon top left of my screen, my ping would be in the thousands etc and my game would be all messed up and the I would be disconnected and the game would take me right back to the start screen (screen before the menus) and tell me my network wasn’t working. So totally a fault at my end as the internet was down on all devices in my home at this point.
However I have recently had two occasions where I’m in a game, everything is fine then suddenly I DC. No warning icon, no time to check my ping, no signs in game that anything is wrong. I’m taken to the post game screens and told that I disconnected from a player- and there’s always a DC icon next to someone else in the lobby (was the killer both times). The internet is working perfectly in my home, there’s definitely no connection issue. I leave the post trial screen and return to the lobby and see a DC penalty. But unlike the times when my internet has dropped I’m not taken back to the start up screen.
Can anyone advise on what has happened in these situations?

probably some connection lag spike. Either coming from the router, or the provider. And your connection with the game is timing out resulting in a disconnect even if your internet still works afterwards when you check it. Monitor your network activity, probably you had a drop in your connection when the DC happened
