Anyone else thinks eruption is a really unhealthy perk for the game?
I could just be complaining here but I play both sides and I tend to solo q alot and having no idea when my teammate is about to go down really sucks but if I was in a swf, eruption most of the time is just useless since you know exactly when your teammate is about to go down. Playing killer whenever I use eruption it just always doesn’t feel rewarding since I just got lucky that they were a solo and it just feels unrewarding for me.
I’d love to hear other’s people thoughts and who knows, maybe this is just my survivor side talking. Thanks!

That it doesn't work with SWF whereas it does with SoloQ is a problem with SWF, not a problem with SoloQ. It's a sign of how the game is supposed to be played (I.E. survivors acting independently).

You are always going to get some value out of eruption. There are no signs to survivors that you have the perk so you will at least get one use.
I also doubt that most SWFs will be able to coordinate when someone is about to go down. Most of the time chases are unpredictable anyway.

I personally disagree with both of your points
If you leave a gen and the killer instead of immediately chasing after you they kick the gen, it’s a huge red flag that he got eruption, sure it’s not known yet but it will always be on the back of your mind.
With the unknown down part literally just say “hey I might go down here” and prevent eruption that way and sure you might be wasting gen time but it’s better than doing nothing for 30 seconds.

We’re obviously not at that point of the game where it was originally meant to played solo so the fact that this perk is in the game still doesn’t sit well with me imo.

Or Overcharge. Or Call of Brine. Or a myriad of other "on gen kick" perks. There are several now. It does not immediately mean Eruption.
Also, most SWF groups are just friends playing together. We do not all work like a military unit making callouts of every single thing happening all the time.

Sure, it could be just Call of Brine or Overcharge, but most players know killers run Call/Overcharge along side eruption and will still always keep it in the back of their mind until confirmed if they have the perk
And yeah most swf group just play to have fun but it’s not difficult just saying to your buds “I’m going to go down.”

Yeah, I don't think anyone I play with in the hundreds and hundred of hours I have in this game, has announced they were going down before. You might be able to guess if they blurt out a swear after making a mistake, but no one has ever announced they were going down. Hell, I'm the only one that ever says if the killer starts chasing me. The game is far too casual to treat that seriously.

That’s cool if you and your buds don’t care about saying any callouts, but that’s just your group at the end of your day other teams callout frequently and for swf like that can counter eruption so easily while solo q can’t, it just doesn’t seem very fair.

I'm saying that's the majority of SWF. Even then, full SWF groups are a minority of games. Having someone occasionally able to evade a part of a single perk out of hundreds is not a big deal. Setting up things like Head-ons is far more of a problem than not making someone scream and get unable to work on a gen for 20-30 seconds.

You’re really comparing head on to eruption???

Every Twitch streamer I’ve ever seen that uses voice comms in a SWF, will sometimes communicate game information through those voice comms.
Even if people “just want to play with their friends”, they’ll also be quick to gain extra game advantages with their voice comms.

I don't think Eruption is an unhealthy perk, but I do think the incapacitated duration lasts way too long.

I think that it's kinda on the weaker side not only against swf's but solo too. It requires you to kick a gen, hope the gen doesn't get finished before the first down, down someone, and hope someone is on the gen. It's pretty useless against swf's and even in solo Q it feels kinda weak. Whenever I use Eruption I only get 1-3 screams for the entire match.

they should just make it so eruption has a visual indicator for the survivors that it's applied to the generator.

Unhealthy? No. But Incapacitated imo it's a bit too much, since it makes you completely useless. I'd rather it blocked the gen.

I personally don’t think that solves anything though. Sure you know the gen has eruption but you still have no idea when one of your teammates is about to go down.
