What's with all the (s)?
This is a nitpick by why do so many challenges have (s) in them? Like the Execution challenge says "Kill 12 survivor(s) by any means." I thought you only put (s) when something could or could not be plural. 12 is more than 1 so it's always plural. Is this a French Canadian thing I'm unaware of?

I’m sure it’s a coding thing. I can’t think of any other reason really.

because the code is likely: (text) + (number variable) + (text), so it needs to fit all

It's a French Canadian thing that you've never heard about. They add (s) to everything in their secret underground laboratories.

Makes it easier to copy-paste and alter on short notice, i guess.

I am equally excited as I am afraid to ask, but what is a sextet? No typo allowed, I wanted creative answers.

They do that so they don't have to change the text depending on the number.

My biggest pet peeve is when a challenge has in the description that it must be completed in one trial.. when it’s something that obviously has to be in one trial. Unnecessary clutter.

That annoys me too lol
Thanks for all the answers, everyone! Makes sense now

The number is dynamic and is easier to have the singler and plural displayed than to programmatically change it.
For instance, day(s) can mean 1 day or 2 days.

Yep and the text has to be translatable, and in some languages the noun might come before the number, or at least not immediately after the number. It makes supporting multiple languages way easier if the text doesn't depend on the numeric value.

I'm not Frech Canadian so I alway(s) forget about the (s).

a Sextet is a very cheap Sextant, which is a tool used by sailors to measure the distance between different objects, like the ship and a island for example, the Sextet does the same thing, but has a pipe-bomb attached to it that can explode at any given moment
