Unless I missed the news, are we playing with bots, especially to fill survivor queues?
I am seeing many character names like Leon. S. Kennedy 02
It says theyre on steam with me, but when I try to go to their profiles pregame and postgame, the only option there is "block" Usually theres also add friend, view profile
They never talk in endgame chat either.
Or is this just a meme thing people are doing?

It's the new 'anonymous' feature that people can turn on / off.
Seen lots of complaints from people, saying how are cheaters / hackers using it supposed to be reported, even with video evidence, if any personal identifying info is then hidden?

Yeah I agree I have video evidence of a hacker game. I got a lv 100, 70 in pregame, thought man this will be a cool test. They were hackers, and in the post game it said they were only lv 3. I was unable to report them so I just deleted the file.
Got them next match, just had to dodge.

I use the mode. I like it. I get accused of being a bot. I enjoy their reaction when I explain that it's the new privacy settings. I call the mode "No, you cannot scout my profile before match." No seeing if I'm in a SWF so you can dodge. No seeing that I have 2100 hours in the game, so you can dodge. You can just dodge on a whim, or play the game without the meta info.
For cheaters, since this feature is unique to steam, just make sure your own name is visible in yoru video. They should be able to look up your own steam ID what characters you played against, and who was using the privacy mode in said match. Who played what and where are all known on the servers. Steam tracks people you played with recently, so it shouldn't be difficult for BHVR and Steam to figure out who the hacker is eventually. It's just a matter of if they're willing to put forth the effort to stop them.

You realise you can make your profile only visible to friends right? Infact you can make it so even friends cant see your games info.
This is a huge issue with hackers like @allmadhere said. We should be making it easier to find hackers not more effort....
Also people might just start dodging these accounts, assuming they are the ones with things to hide, like high hours, swf etc

Yes. I do know that. I also know that people will use the info of who I am to tunnel me in later games or will bring a mori specifically for me. Less of an issue now that mori's basically require you to be dead first anyway now, but it still happens. Some people are very sore losers and will take it out on you if they know who you are and see you again. With MMR, I see the same groups of people sometimes 3-4 games in a row. Now I just switch characters and skins often and keep my name and profile inaccessible and they have no reason to believe it's the same person. You don't necessarily need to see the profile info to know who it is. Just their name history and profile picture are enough. Now, you can't see either.

Name history can be erased.
I think its creating a bigger issue with hackers.
If you realise you are vsing the same guy 4 times in a row, you know how he players. Its probably rare, and can be an advantage.

Wow this feature is new to me as I play on console. I was wondering what was going on w my matches because I have cross play enabled. It’s really unfair that PC players have some features surrounding the game that console will never be able to have.

...thanks for proving my point? With this, he can't know he's playing the same guy 4 times in a row. He can guess, at best, but unless I tell him who I am each game, he'll never know for sure it was me. I've been playing for 4 years, I'm nearing 2100 hours in the game. I've seen, I think, 3 overt hackers in the entire time I've played. Sure, they're a problem when they are there, but it's so incredibly rare that it's not really worth dwelling on. Report them and sooner or later someone will give video evidence and they'll be gone.
For the same reason, I am also not really all that concerned about a comet hitting the Earth. The odds of it happening are infintiesimally small.

Unless something is bugged you can still report the match, they just tweaked the report system when they added anonymous mode so that instead of reporting it by flagging a particular player you do thumbs down on the match and include in your report description which player you think was cheating. Customer Service can see who’s who in your match without you needing to know their ids.

This makes so much sense, thank you! I had a killer earlier who's name was also "The Mastermind", and I was so confused. But the anonymous things makes total sense.

Only works on steam but in the overlay you can go to "view recent players" and it will show the people in your recent games. Then its just nit picking which profile is the cheat (which lets be honest usually is the one thats new or private).

Also, when bots are added to the game (still estimated to be sometime this winter) they'll be for custom games only, not live/public games. Unfortunately.
