I don’t think solo queue is that bad

I am a very high MMR Survivor player that has been really appreciating the 20 second queues and constant 100% bloodpoint bonus.

My teammates are usually competent and I have a 40-50% escape rate. It honestly feels like MMR only works for Survivor teammates and just gives me random average joes for Killer.

Congratulations. You are an exception to the rule, however. How well I play is irrelevant thanks to teammates that are crouching in a corner instead of doing anything useful. I swear most people are afraid of gens. Wesker having a massive terror radius doesn't help this issue either.

Yes but compared to SWF solo queue is awful. No communication, essentially less perk slots. These are disadvantages you really don't want when going up against any B tier or above killer.

People do have bad experiences here, and my experiences matches with yours in that it's not as bad. Not to say others are invalid in what they are saying though, as some may well be in some sort of gaming hell. Others may simply be remembering the bad games more, because the mind likes to remember bad things with more intensity than the good.

It could do with a buff to the HUD in terms of more information, to bring it up to the level of swf a bit more. But what my experience is, is that the issue comes from people giving up or disconnecting too much. That's experienced less with swfs for obvious reasons.

I’m sorry, but it is mathematically impossible for you to be “very high MMR” while maintaining a 40-50% escape rate.

Your MMR is only going one direction—down.

I recorded 50 solo games before patch 6.1.0, and I had a 60%+ escape rate. It definitely didn’t feel like I was in high MMR.

It seems like one of the big problems with solo is teammates just been bad. I hate to say this but buffing solo isn't going to make bad teammates even better. Even if there was a hud icon saying you were been chase thats not going to make bad teammates better that Dwight is still going to jump in a locker everytime he hears even a single heartbeat claudette will still be self caring in the corner and no one will be on gens.

I'm not saying don't buff solo but I have a feeling even if/when they do it's not going to be the huge QoL upgrade everyone thinks it's going to be. Just my opinion though.

Lol, first match after reading this two team mates that bring flans give up for no reason. Maybe because it was pinhead but like... there are far worse killers.

    L.

If I was found first this game, and I assumed he used Lethal, I’d immediately conclude the killer was intending to play incredibly dirty.

Sloppy and Bamboozle on Pinhead with a Mori just screams “I’m never traveling further than 32m from he hook.”

If the killer did walk away, I’d conclude he stood exactly 33m away, waiting for unhook, once Make Your Choice reveals itself.

Can’t deny the fact that some builds on certain killers, paired with certain offerings, will trigger me before I even see how the killer plays.

How do you know what your MMR is? I'd love to be able to see mine

Are you serious? Lethal Pursuer = The killer is going to play dirty? You're ridiculous.

Oh man all the doom and gloom reply posts.

I'm probably sitting in the average mid range of MMR, who knows really but my team mates seem semi competent most of the time, gens generally get done and killers (at least lately) are usually threatening enough to keep it interesting for the whole match. It fluctuates a bit but that's to be expected with random online PVP.

That's my genuine solo queue experience and its generally a lot of fun.

Camping and tunnelling aren't very common and when they do happen it really isn't the end of the world.

I also don't think that everything is camping and tunnelling I'm fairly sure the breadth of your personal definition of it dictates how much you see it rather than any real representations of it. But I digress...

I always love the BUFF SOLO argument as if somehow a selection of random PUG players can be expected to perform as well as a coordinated SWF team all the time, that's just nuts.

The game is in a pretty good spot at the moment as both killer and survivor, probably one of the best spots its been in a while.

You’ve really never played against a killer who finds the survivor in the first 15s of the game, downs them almost instantly, and still camps/tunnels?

Lethal is a fantastic perk for camping killers, because it allows them to apply pressure before the survivors can “just do gens.”

You actually just proved my point.

Even a 60% winrate doesn’t feel like high MMR because ongoing the Killer queue situation means that the matchmaking for Killers is barely on at all.

    Correlation does not mean causation.

Only thing that can be proved here is that you’re not in “very high MMR.”

We cannot even prove that I am in high MMR. For all we know, I was in elo hell before those 50 games.

The fast Queue times and bp incentives really help soften the blow of a bad game. I think Solo queue still needs work, but it's definitely not as bad as before the RE update.

The Devs have stated that the way you die and the way you escape matter.

(i.e. if you’re the first death vs fourth death you lose less or if you escape through hatch, which isn’t considered an escape rather a draw)

If you really have a 60% exit gate escape rate as Survivor in solo queue, you’re probably a hacker and shouldn’t be bragging so hard

lmfao, is 60% really that hard to believe?

i’ll link you to all 50 endgame screenshots when I get back to my computer on Tuesday.

I might be escaping more than I’m dying, but I’m still having a miserable time playing survivor. It feels like I’m babysitting my teammates, and the games I lose are absolute stomps.

i’ve got nothing good to say about solo queue atm, despite how green the grass may appear on my side

It’s fine man. I can take your word for it. MMR is capped on the high end so there’s no difference between say the top 20% and top 0.1%. The game just has a general “high” MMR range that it picks from. This video explains https://youtu.be/GHEkN-oDLrk

I cherry pick my lobbies right now and that helps my games feel better. Queues are fast so if I see Survivors that are low prestige or default or just give bad vibes in lobby I re-queue. I don’t mind if I don’t escape every game, but the games where you feel like you have to “babysit” Survivors really are the worst I agree with you on that.

Great, happy for you. But don't really know what to do with that information. I escape less than 10% (today it was exactly 1 escape [2K] in 10 matches). And I can't say teammates are damaged in the head, everyone is really efficient, altruistic, know what to do, and loop killer thrice as long as me. What next, STFU and git gut, right?

How do you know you are very high MMR? Other than using cheats its just a clame that cant be proofen.

I'm btw a high MMR killer and i kill every survivor in 2 minutes in every match. And killer should be nerfed. /s

I am a high mmr killer that gets good teams as long as I am playing at a time when queues are less than a few min (not 3am like I do sometimes). I think high mmr survivor is probably the most consistently good role right now. When I play my mid(at best) mmr survivor there are a descent amount of corner self-care not do gen Andy's. If you are stuck in low mmr as survivor, it kinda sucks and is genuinely hard to climb out due to how mismatched it can be down there.

The funniest thing about this thread is people still pretending like high MMR is real despite all we've learned recently.

3500 hour survivor main here with my 2 cents - I agree (with post title).

It's on me to choose to queue up solo, or queue with others. I rather enjoy solo queue because it feels entirely different, more spooky and immersive. You have to pay more attention to what's going on and constantly make decisions between your own self preservation or helping out the randoms. (Which is why I'm often Dead by Altruism).

I don't think solo queue needs a 'buff' - however, I can see the argument for having some sort of communication system, like a ping wheel or more silent emotes (indicating 'no don't move' or 'I saw something here' etc.). I personally would rather not have such additions, as per my previous statement about spooky solo immersion - but I wouldn't argue against it either.

I think too many people (both survivors and killers) just have an oddly difficult time handling losing. It's really not a big deal. Take the time to learn some better or different strategies, and make sure you are having fun. 'Dead' is in the title of the game, so if I'm dead, it's totally fine GG and GL next :)
