Blast Mine was nerfed for Wiretap

Pre-nerf, Blast Mine had high uptime once it was charged (66% of your first gen) because it would get fully refunded if it wasn’t used. This made it a solid information perk to tell teammates which generator was being worked on. Post nerf, Blast Mine has much less uptime so its more important to save it for its stun effect than use it for info.

Now Wiretap fills the information perk role because it only takes half the time to charge (only 33% of a gen). This perk is the one you want to use freely as soon as you get it to spread information.

Both perks have their uses, but it sucks that the utility of one perk was removed to give the other a niche.

I don't see what information it really gives by itself if the killer doesn't appear around the gen, the gen turns yellow that's it. There are at least 4 perks i can think of off the top of my head that turn a gen yellow for survivors with one of them being wiretap. There's also blast mine itself, better together, and the forgotten trail of torment. A dev has also been quoted as saying it was a bug that has been in the game since blast mine's release, why he felt the need to fix it I don't know, but that is the information he gave. It had nothing to do with wiretap specifically, let's stop theorizing.

The only generator trap setting perk is “fixed” when the second generator trap perk is introduced. It’s almost revisiting the generator trap mechanic prompted the devs to make changes.

Even its not for the reason I mentioned, Blast Mine’s nerf is extremely likely to be connected to Wiretap’s introduction.

Again a dev literally said they only noticed the bug because they were tasked with making sure that wiretap and blast mine WORKED together. He fixed it seemingly unprompted and I imagine it was only left in because it was filed under a bug fix rather than a nerf. I'm sure a revert is in the not too distance future. Save the conspiracy theories please.
