Territorial Imperative discussion
Next up on the list of perks that are currently at the bottom of the usage list on the aggregate site I follow, the Huntress perk Territorial Imperative (0.19% usage last two weeks)
Territorial Imperative - Survivors' auras are revealed to you for 3 seconds when they enter the basement and you are more than 32 meters away from the basement entrance. Territorial Imperative can only be triggered once every 30/25/20 seconds.
So this perk is bad on many levels. It's an aura perk but it only shows an aura for a tiny section of the map, specifically the basement. It also only shows you the aura if you're fairly far away from the basement when it triggers, so there's a decent chance you won't even be able to take advantage of the aura when it shows up. And to add insult to injury it's not even a persistent aura, it just lasts a few seconds then turns off for a minimum of 20 seconds.
It's hard to imagine scenarios where this perk is useful in its current state. Best case is maybe you run this with Monstrous Shrine so that the basement hooks are Scourge Hooks and the hook timer also runs down more quickly, and then you hook someone in the basement and get out of that 32 meter range so both Monstrous Shrine and Territorial Imperative trigger (you could even throw on Devour Hope and Make Your Choice for the "run away from the basement hook" full on gimmick combo.) And maybe you even run this whole combo on, say, Hag or Dredge so you can instantly teleport back the moment you see an aura pop up. But even if you do all that, is it actually worth it? 🤷♂️
This perk needs a serious buff or revamp, especially if it's going to be any good on its own. Some possible ways to improve it might be:
- Remove the cooldown on the perk. Just let it show the auras of anybody in the basement all the time.
- Reduce or remove the range requirement. I'm guessing the requirement is there to discourage face camping the basement, but honestly if someone is intent on doing that they don't really get much out of seeing the aura of someone they probably saw walk in anyway. They could probably remove the range limit entirely and it would still not be overpowered.
- Add a noise notification when someone first enters the basement and put a cooldown on the noise. That would make it a lot more likely you'll notice the ping than with just the aura by itself.
- Show the killer the basement hook auras either at the start of the match for 20 or 30 seconds or just persistently throughout the match. Knowing exactly where the basement is as the killer in combination with this perk and maybe Monstrous Shrine would be kind of handy for planning out your early game strategy.

I agree with all of this...

Also make the basement chest take twice as long to unlock or rummage.

Lol, that would actually be painful to my Plunderer Ace. 👉😎👉

"Remove the cooldown on the perk. Just let it show the auras of anybody in the basement all the time."
I would suggest instead: "Don't remove the cooldown on the perk but let it show the auras of ANYBODY in the SHACK + basement (if the map has a shack)".

Never understood why there's a range requirement on it I always found it ironic how it's a teachable for a 110 speed killer

Make it so that it affects the basement AND killer belongings (other than hooks). 10/10 Change!

Mm shack is unfair since a gem can spawn there. But yh definitely should be no cool down on that perk. I've never seen anybody run it. Which is good because i hide in basement a LOT and so far I've never been caught in there. Unless I'm going for an unhook.

@HoodedWildKard : "Mm shack is unfair since a gen can spawn there". Yea, you are right, indeed, I've forgotten this point...

Make all of the worse killer perks to basekit, same with survivor, the ones that are basically useless like this one

I remember watching a Demogorgon build with Territorial and Make your Choice where, as soon as someone enters the basement, he put a portal below himself and teleported to the stairs to hit the person with Make Your Choice.
Rinse, repeat.
It was pretty brutal.
