Think We'll Ever Get a Vore Killer?
We kind of have it already with Demo's and Dredge's Mori, but I mean vore as the core mechanic of their power.
Clown kind of counts but he's more about post mortem cannibalism than actual vore.
Would FNAF count as vore or do you think he'd end up being a jump scare killer like hag and doctor?
Edit: Just got hit with a genius idea. Lamia killer. Could even see paralysis using venom or construction to fill out the kit with vore. Could be an alternative hook state like with Papa Pyramid's Cage.

I'll humor this.
It could only manifest as a mori, you'd think. Unless the killer just nibbled off a bit at a time as an alternative to hooks (like PH's cage) leading up to the, uh, final consumption. Or Devouring? And what about the in-game effects of being partially eaten? If the killer ate a surv's arm (for example), would they get permanent hindrance?
I don't think any of this is likely to happen though, for myriad reasons. While perhaps...exciting for some, it might cross a visceral line for a lot of other people.
Also, would you consider the Dredge's mori something akin to vore?
I did just have a visual of the cookie monster in game eating survs like they were cookies on Sesame Street, so thanks for the laugh.

i really don't want to be making a semiserious post in this thread of all threads. but.
you said "[amputation and vore] might cross a visceral line for a lot of other people", but we have some killers doing some nasty stuff in this game both as gameplay mechanics and as moris. in terms of mechanics, plague takes the cake, eats it, then regurgitates it directly onto everyone else's faces. we now have wesker, who fills survivors with worms. pyramid head's cages have an argument here. and then moris? hooh boy. clown and the way he severs different fingers based on your survivor's gender which definitely implies sexual intent. dredge... you know. plague literally vomits into peoples' open mouths. artist forcefeeds you birds which explode out of your stomach. the list goes on.
if this game were shying away from things that were gruesome, i certainly haven't noticed. so i genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, do not see why a vore killer would cross the line. a monsterous frog that coats people in digestive juices and when they get too covered they become mori-able like sadako and he just eats them? honestly i'm. i'm not seeing many reasons as to why not.
and. may i just be daring enough to suggest.
if they do add a vore killer it might be first time a killer gets added and people are eager to play survivor.

Genuinely great ideas. See now I have my mind set towards some monstrous being like the earlier exampled Lamia. I was thinking an alternative way of hooking made sense but I never visualized it quite so viscerally until you called it 'The Final Consumption.' (God how upsetting would it be to be a survivor that finally hits death state, and the consuming killer just shudders before you hear the death bell. Absolutely wretched!)
I'd love to see this monster going around, survivor being dragged with the killer as it goes on to attack other survivors. Maybe there will be a relatively easy way to disable or stun the killer to pull out the consumed survivor. I imagine the killer's speed would be reduced. There may even be an interaction with the eaten survivor that if performed right may allow them to get themselves spat out so other survivors don't have to rescue them.
Lots of ways to go about it realistically. I'm thinking that it could be like Wesker's or Pyramid's infection/cage thing. Where once a survivor gets enough of X unique status effect they can be consumed. Could be saliva, could be venom, could be any number of concepts that reward good counterplay.
As a side thought, I'm not sure BHVR would bother with limb removal, too much remodeling and programming.

I was being only semi-serious myself, but if you want to get into the evolutionary psychology side of things, very few things are as primally disturbing as the idea of being eaten. More than the general concept of death itself, or of the other various forms of violence we see in DBD. This goes back our earliest, and even pre-human days, for reasons that should be obvious: we spent thousands of years not just trying to survive, but specifically trying avoid being eaten, especially eaten alive.
This is why many people find the Clown's mori (which is just the suggestion of wholesale consumption), while being far less violent/brutal than most, to be the most unsettling.
But like many things, for some the flip side of existential terror is sexuality, and sometimes, for some people, the two things get intertwined. Consuming/being consumed is no exception.
Of course, this might be an argument for its inclusion it in a game that is supposed to instill fear.

God the idea of being eaten alive is downright nauseating. There are a few times that you see something like that just browsing the internet. Even putting movies aside (And without going into too much detail) I've sometimes stumbled across clips of wild animals eating other ones, and my god nature just does not care about it's living or dead status. As long as it has meat, and it can be torn off, it's good to go. Pelicans eating things in one gulp? Hate it. Saw a clip of a komodo dragon eat an ENTIRE animal like it was nothing. Man the other day in real life I saw a spider make it's approach on a struggling praying mantis that landed in the web. It filled me with so much existential dread to see something so full of life about to die just like that. (I of course freed it, I have pictures too! But I won't clog up this thread with that.)
To continue, you're entirely correct, the idea of being eaten as a human being is dreadful. Being eaten alive, while still conscious, screaming, and struggling, the concept of potentially being alive inside and feeling being digested. Like whoa, god I hate it so much. I feel all sorts of things that I can't even describe in words. I'm sure most people do.
Realistically though that's why a vore killer is perfect for a horror game like DBD. Horror is a great way to face our fears and discomforts in safe ways for acclimation or exploration. For a current example. I absolutely can't stand the Artist. I don't mind birds but the body horror of artist with the bird-like movements upset me so much I look at her red stain and never her face. Don't even get me started on this horrific sounds. I swear sometimes when I'm trying to sleep I hear those howls echoing in my mind like a song stuck in my head. I'm sure I'll get desensitized to her one day.

On a somewhat serious note, if anyone has genuine academic interest in the subject, there is a book I read some years ago (while taking an evolutionary psych course) when I was in college called Deadly Powers: Animal Predators and the Mythic Imagination that really delved into this subject, and promoted the idea that being killed/consumed is so foundational a human fear that it underpins much of our collective consciousness and informs almost all of our mythmaking.
Speculative, but makes a lot of sense.

i don't know!! not a lot of people would call it "vore" unless they meant, like, voraphilia. but then i wouldn't really know what else to call it.
the idea of a killer that you have to sneak up on to release the survivor trapped inside kinda owns though. and while the survivor's "hooked" inside of it, it's going around pestering gens and hitting people. interact from behind to stun it for 3 seconds and release the trapped teammate!

I don't know if a diaper killer would work. Antagonists in horror wearing diapers isn't typically an element you see in mainstream media. I can think of times adults in diapers were used in comedy (Like that Yakuza scene.) but I don't believe there's much that scares people about a grown man or woman in diapers. Normally that visual illicits laughter towards an otherwise able bodied person in a humuliating position, or sorrow when it's someone who needs them (Like someone who's in hospice.)
I can think of Killer concepts that could wear diapers and that would work, but not because the diaper adds anything horrific, just that it would 'make sense' for the killer to have it. But those concepts would work just fine without it.
I'd accept being entirely wrong though. Just because it's not my phobia doesn't mean it wouldn't distress others to go against (Which is the point after all.)

So you're thinking fully fit, ripped to ######### dude wearing a diaper and using a weapon. Kind of makes me think of Richard Trager from Outlast if they had one instead of an apron. Oh actually how about a character that's similar to Titans from Attack on Titan but in a diaper. Now that you gave me an example I can totally see that working out. I rescind my earlier point, yeah that would suck to go against.

Oh I see, I misunderstood what you said. I didn’t realize what you said was a joke. My apologies and I tend to misread things sometimes. I also have to disagree about dbd being serious.
I mean we have Legion and Feng both dressed up as bunnies. While also Clown dressed up a big pink elephant. So yeah those outfits are what bring the somewhat silly and goofness to the game. But sorry again for the misunderstanding. I hope you have a great day.
