The common mindset that is encouraged among players is self-destructive.
New survivors are often judged based on their appearances. This is hurtful to some people, because survivors are designed to be realistic.
Asymmetry causes there to be a lack of empathy. And this causes controversial opinions which forms rivalries in the community.
The game gives you the power to make someone's gameplay extremely uninteractive and unpleasant. There will be of course people that want to do that.
This game can be miserable to play and that makes people miserable, so they treat other people badly. Toxic game, toxic community.

Yes. This is the first game in my 10+ years of online gaming where people will go to your profile outside the game to harass you.

The only more toxic communities I've ever seen are the Fall Guys community and the Town of Salem Community.

The gameplay is mostly fine. The community, especially on reddit, consists of the most entitled, whiny people you will ever come across. They make the DBD community look like saints.

Reddit definitely can be a bad place, but with most communities I'm in usually there is just a loud minority, with most people being fine as long as you stay away from the huge subreddits.
The Fall Guys sub really feels like they just rounded all the bad annoying users and put them in one place for the laugh of it. Try say anything positive and you'll be down voted into oblivion.

Every community is toxic. Legitimately. Every game community says the same thing lol that is just online games in general

It's funny that neither of those communities get brought up much in discussions like these. Though admittedly I've only seen small bits of FG discussion here and there since it's gone F2P, but even from that I totally believe this. And I know for a fact DBD toxicity has nothing on ToS.

If I had to theorise why neither get brought up I'd have to jump to the fact that all three of the games are wildly different. Dead by Daylight is a 1v4 horror game, ToS is a tactical Mafia/Werewolf styled game and Fall Guys is a party game.
It's a shame cause both of them are good games but their communities have made the game much harder to enjoy.
