I mean, I didn't know that they made an official statement on that, but that's also for very obvious and justified reasons.
My main point still stands though. BHVR has never "given excuses" as to why Slenderman specifically couldn't join the roster. I can personally think of a fair few. But OP's point of "not touching anyone" is irrelevant.

Yes they did. Mathieu Cote in an interview in 2021 said the following: "One problem is, Slenderman never touches anyone. He doesn't hit you. He can't carry you. It's not a question of physics, but of lore. Of what the character can do depending on its history. It's very important for us that if we invite an existing character into DBD, we must be able to do it while respecting who they are. I won't say no, but its not an easy mix."

I mean, they kinda did the whole "no touching" thing with Sadako's weapon just being her going "BOO! JAPANESE!" and Pinhead's M1 being a weapon that appears out of the void. Same with carrying, I think.

Slenderman just sort of lures kids away or just makes people die via staticy jumpscares if you take the fan games into account as part of his extended lore. Just seems to be more of a being that exists rather than an active killer like he doesn't even really seem to do much aside from vibing.

Yeah, Sadako never touches the survivors. That was one of the specifications the license specifically asked for IIRC.

Saying Slenderman doesn't hit you or can't pick you up is just flat out wrong to begin with. Slenderman throws your character out of a window in Slender The Arrival, so Mathieu really shouldn't have said anything regarding that if he has no idea what he is talking about... xD Of course he isn't going to outright say no. That would be bad for business, but read through the lines and its as clear as day. Lazy is what I say.

He doesn't even have to pick you up BHVR. When he downs you and presses "SPACE" near your body your screen goes to static and you are teleported to the farthest away hook. There you go. An easy idea free of charge.

Sadako attacks people with curses considering she's a vengeful spirit who has psychic powers and the ability to kill you with her mind.
Does he do anything else to you that isn't a static jumpscare afterwards? Also it isn't as if Slenderman is licensed character it is an internet creepypasta which both works in and against its favor. There are generally agreed upon aspects that stay the same from person to person, but other things don't. If nothing else DBD tends to favor highly consistent character lore to use as a design guide.
In the case of Pinhead they did exactly what he does in the Hellraiser films. He doesn't really touch people much at all with his hands he usually conjures his chains to subdue, harm, and tear people apart.

Besides the other thing he does 50% of the time where he picks you up and puts you on his shoulder and carries...you.... That is so out of character its unreal tbh..... Yet here we are... xD Pinhead wouldn't do that. He would send hooks to grab you and then those small hooks on chains SHOULD'VE dragged you to the nearest hook with him having to do nothing at all. That is Pinhead. He would never use that much effort to mess with any one person.

I get what you are saying about the carrying around but....isn't slendermans whole shtick just appearing with a staticy jump scare? Not sure how they would implement him in this game and keep any semblance of his character, but since they already have Sadako looking silly floating along after you that might not be an issue for them.

Exactly. The Sadako carry animation says it all. They can twist the rules wherever they see fit regardless of what is true to the character. Pinhead never carries anyone in ANY version of his character, so they just said F it and made him do it anyway, because they were mentally okay with that outcome. They went against the characters lore in their own interests yet they are going to use Slendermans lore against his chances at inclusion......-_- Mental gymnastics at its finest...
