Why HEX: Devour Hope is now broken and why you should care.
Before you can understand why this perk is going to be broken - let me just quickly explain what it does now and why it matters.
Each time a Survivor is rescued from a Hook when you are at least 24 metres away, Hex: Devour Hope receives 1 Token:
- 5 Tokens: You are granted the ability to kill all Survivors by your own hand./You are granted the ability to kill all Survivors by your own hand./You are granted the ability to kill all Survivors by your own hand.
CRITERIA FOR 5 TOKENS
- Get 5 "hooks" on survivors that can be rescued (can't hook anyone on "deathhook" as they can't be rescued, they just die)
- When the rescue happens, you are 24 meters or more away.
- Your hex totem must survive until you have 5 tokens (there are more perks around bones that ever before and they are much easier to find)
If you play it perfectly like above, there will be 5 hookstates taken from the 12 hookstate pool survivors have collectively. This means that atleast 1 survivor will already be on "deathhook" as 5 into 4 and someone gets the 1 extra :P (hopefully a feng)
That means what it ACTUALLY gives you:
- -Saves you carrying the guy who was on deathhook, to a hook, as you mori them
- -Potentially lets you "skip" a hookstate on the other surivors and kill them.
- -Takes Survivors out the game without impacting hook resources on the map.
============================================================
what they want to change it to
- Hex: Devour Hope: Once 5 tokens have been earned, any Survivor placed on a hook is instantly sacrificed.
That means that you
- No longer are saved having to bring someone to a hook
- potentially lets you skip 3 hookstates but you must still hook them.
- Those hooks are gone from the game forever
===================================
This is insane, its already a nightmare to fill the criteria to activate the 5 token ability. Add to that that all hooks die, you have to waste time taking them too the hooks too (if you can get there).
That means devour hope is like the game starting with 3 level 1 hookstates applied to survivors that again, you need to meet the criteria makes it garbage.
I put a lot of value on hooks because as a killer main - I know that if I lose a hook in a key area - it creates a "dead zones", where I can't reach any hooks, I can't rely on them bleeding out now. I am forcred to "catch and release" no matter what, infinitely.

Devour Hope should not be changed. Rancor as well.
I mean, i understand they are working on new mori system. But why this perks needs to be changed? No point.
And plus, i love to mori multiple survivors. Now new mori system will allow me mori only one? Not good enough!

Still don't care.

You will when people dont wan't to play m1 killers anymore as its impossible to create pressure via a slug.

That's if you can find the last survivor before they get the hatch or a increase of the last two survivors holding the game hostage by hiding and not doing Gens ...

I feel like this misses the point that above all else, the upcoming change strips Devour Hope of its style.
It's a nerf for the reason you stated, and there are totally situations where the extra time of hooking a survivor is going to see Devour cleansed when you could previously get a mori off, but it's not nearly as bad a nerf as Rancor is getting. But what it primarily does is make the perk less fun. The viscerally rewarding part of Devour Hope is gone.

Hex: DH is one of my favorite perks, and pretty bummed Im losing the mori mechanic in it. Theres no feeling like getting the 4K Mori, now knowing thats permanently lost because it's "basekit" is pretty frustrating.
Also, much as I hate "whataboutisms", why is it that when moris become basekit my mori perks need to be changed, but when BT became basekit BT just gave more time? Don't really see why the need for a change.

This is my biggest issue with the changes for sure...I loved the thrill of Devour when you managed to get the 5 stack, and finishing the game off, or at least getting a survivor or two, in style. It's very rare to see salt for getting the 5 stacks and winning off it, and I've never felt like it was unfair for the killer to be mori-ing me at 0 personal hooks if they played well enough to get it.
It's going to feel much less impactful when you just instakill someone on hook...visually it will look no different than hooking them for the first time, big deal. Same on survivor - same old death animation as always, no interesting exit. I don't like the change from that perspective alone.
