Can we stop weaponising the community? (flashlight changes)

Where did I say I was upset about the change?

The flashlight change is a separate event in of itself, and would’ve been included normally if it was planned.
again? What am I meant to say in regards to the change? I don’t have a bone to pick with it because I like that those that suffer from epilepsy will have an easier time so I don’t touch on that? Maybe because it’s not the point of my disappointment? The disappointment is their lacklustre attempts at this that happen at convenient times when they are under the scrutiny of the community.
Believe it or not, people can support something whilst questioning or criticising the intentions of an organisation.

Every post in this thread from you screams it.

As I've said in another similar thread here, let's please keep the discussion of this centered on the game itself, and not have this devolve into personal arguments.
At a certain point if two people don't see eye to eye, there's no point to keep arguing the same points back and forth. This is how arguments start to get personal, so let's please avoid that and keep focus on the changes themselves, not individual players.
Thank you.

Except it doesn’t and I voiced that loud and clear. The change is not for me, because I am not affected physically but also in-game because I am not a flashlight player. I don’t have a bone to pick with it, and I’ve not once advocated that it shouldn’t go through.
I spent my time trying to explain to people like yourself that love to tell me what I’m saying that my disappointment sits with the devs because I believe they are being disingenuous. You can sit there and argue with me about whether that’s true or not, but don’t try to cause arguments over something that I never said.

Its too long to miss. At this point they honestly should bring back blindness based on brightness. Flashlights are good items, but their addons are horrendous. I did a quick review with friends and deduced the following:
Medkits: 1 relatively bad addon, but still usable(abdominal dressing)
Toolboxes: 1 horrible addon thats practically useless(Spring Clamp, only reduces your sounds, but not the sounds of the generator or your teammates) and 1 niche addon (Instructions)
Maps: 3 addons that are useless for the rainbowmap, but okay for the green one, 1 meme addon(glass bead)
Keys: all solid addons
Flashlights: half the addons(yes, exactly half) are basically worthless, anything less than 20% blindness duration is not worth much, brightness doesnt do anything at all, and flashlight accuracy basically does nothing at all. The only addons worth running are: Broken Bulb, Sapphire Lens, Intense Halogen, Long Life Battery, Focus Lens, Heavy Duty Battery and Low Amp Filament. The rest is either useless in-game or useless because there are addons that do the same but better.
With this Flashlight nerf, I really hope they do an addon pass for the flashlight. Odd Bulb sounds nice, untill you realize all it does in-game is increase blindness duration by 25% while reducing battery life by 14%. Intense Halogen increases duration by 20% with no drawbacks. So why would you ever use the Odd Bulb?

Why would you accuse me of ad hominems when you literally can't stop blaming killer mains and accusing them of having thin skin? I have been pretty diligent in not directly insulting anybody, let alone trying to use insulting them as a means to discredit them. If you actually saw any of the discussions about this topic in the past, there has been a lot of silence from BHVR directly, but the topic became relevant again after the release of Sadako. Since these changes don't happen overnight, it was very likely in deliberation internally since then. Considering the photosensitivity warning was also added between then and now, it shows that their progress might be slow but it is deliberate.
Aside from all of that, the entire point of the topic is that OP thinks that BHVR is being disingenuous about their reasoning. The backlash they have gotten is that people don't care if the change is one that allows more people to be able to safely play the game. The only people who could possibly be upset by the change are the ones who think the "flashlight nerf" was more important than people's well being, which is why so many understandably have pretty emotional responses. I've even given common ground with bringing up spine chill multiple times so that there can at least be consistency to the logic, but the hyperfocus is on this specific change.
The best part is how minimal the change actually is. You would think turning on the flashlight just ejects its battery with how people have been hyperbolic about it. Thats why it looks so absolutely silly when compared to the thought of someone having an episode and being hospitalized over someone else's actions in a damn game. Might as well copy it over from the other topic so people who are unaware can at least use it for context:
Its easy to brush off people who just don't understand epilepsy and other photosensitive conditions from just being uneducated, hopefully they learn better and maybe their perspective will change. But knowingly diminishing conditions like that compared to personal reasons ranging from feeling like your advantage has been reduced to choosing this one specific topic to call the devs hypocrites is extremely immature.

This change pretty much did nothing to gameplay, will only help people who can be hurt and we got people coming at killer mains because they can't be toxic anymore. It's sad that some people here really don't care about others well being if it prevents them from being toxic.
We don't know what transpired for the devs to make this welcomed change for photosensitive players, maybe a potential lawsuit? Maybe something happened in the office. People can just develop photo sensitivity seemingly out of no where. I mean The warning did kind of come out of no where too recently. But look what we're seeing here in the forums "its been fine for 6 years so why change it now".
The water in flint michigan has been poisoned for years! Why fix it now?
We've used lead in paint and gas for decades! Why change it now?
Just because they fix something now doesn't mean it hasn't always been an issue. It is really a bad look on the dbd community tbh.

Shrug.
I'm mildly photosensitive and these literally give me a headache.
How is this not a positive change?

because you stated that this was a killer buff while in reality it's a QoL change, that's why... do you really think that decent survivors/killers will be affected by this change on the gameplay perspective? they know well the timings of a flashlight save, everything will be the same thing as before, only survivors who doesn't know the timing (aka beginners) and toxic people who spam flashlight macro will be affected by this change...

Btw I wonder if you made same kind of post about spine chill change? that change actually did affect game lot more than flashlight "nerf", and BHVR isn't properly fixed it yet.

Yes, I did. I am not someone who is chronically online on the forums, so my complaints weren’t voiced here

Regarding why this change probably took so long to happen, good rule of thumb: Be wary of attributing to malice what can be merely attributed to incompetence.

So it was at least consistent I guess.
