bhvr why is there a censor in egc
right so let me get this straight you make a game where you either not get killed or do the killing and the brutality of some moris but words are a no no hmmm dose not add up 🤔

Cause words hurty apparently. Like I get censoring slurs but other than that I don't see a reason for a censor in a rated M game. Plus the censor in this game is god awful possibly the worst I've ever seen.

It reminds of when swear words were censored upon Mortal Kombat 11's release. Like, the game had so much gore and brutality that it was banned in multiple countries and traumatizing to the employees, but swearing is where WB drew the line?

Why is there a censor? Because some words are absolutely henious and can never be justified.
Why is this censor so draconian? Absolutely no clue, but it's terribly designed tbh and lets through actual swear words while blurring out 'gg yun-jin you did well' to '## ####### you did ####'.

Yeah the censor is really annoying as some common phrases or even character names get censored. I just wished there was an option to disable the whole thing. If people want to be toxic or insult you or anything they will manage a way around this barely working filter. Also i don't like being treated as a child who cannot be confronted with bad words. I could not care less what some ill mannered person on the internet writes in barely understandable english, but on the other hand it is really annoying when you re trying to have a normal conversation and need to find your way around the filter because for some reason a random word or character name is censored. I do not think there is any valid argument against the option to deactivate the filter.

I think we'd all be fine if the censor only censored slurs or things of that nature. If nothing else I wish there was an option to turn it off

They firmly refuse to say anything about their awful chat filter that nobody asked for. It can't be helped.

I have written entirely wholesome messages where every single word was filtered out.
I have also watched other players try to communicate with me and write out their sentence 20 different ways and I still wasn't sure what they were aiming for with how redacted every line was.
Mind boggling.

Why do you care? Say "gg" and move on. You really want to have a conversation in end game chat? Why? 99 times out of 100, if anyone says anything more than "gg" it's just to complain and insult people.

I will never understand censorship on game chats. If someone wants to say an offensive word, just let it happen, if it's reportable people will do it and they will get the person banned. It's stupid to limit communication and language on game chats especially in games with mature ratings.

One time I wanted to say "nice instaheal" to another survivor and, thanks to the filter, the message was "nice #########". I couldn't say it. So to get around it I had to say "nice medkit that made you heal quickly".

Yeah, pretty much like that. You can't type a couple of words to be quick, but you have to fully describe what happened otherwise the game chat says "no, bad word".
