What if you could buy a premium battlepass for 40K-50K shards?

Would that be "too good"?

It would cost you like 400-500 in game hours to get "free" cosmetics and 1000 Auric cells which you could then use for free "forever" battlepass or some licensed content (you still can't buy full outfit tho, you need 1080).

I guess we would see a major increase in afk players/bots who are only there to farm XP/shards.

Auric cells = money, they don't give you money, you give them money

Honestly, if you play the game often enough, the Battlepass itself is a pretty dang good deal. I paid for it once when I started playing this game over two years ago. I haven't paid for it again since.

I guess I wouldn't really care either way but I don't see why BHVR would do that. They'd literally just be giving their money away since the Battlepass comes with Cells.

Which they would never do as they have to pay for licenced characters...

Which is why this change will never happen. I'm well aware of the financial side of things.

But, in this theoretical universe where this theoretically happened, the commenter I was replying to asked why someone would do it. And that is a very clear reason I can see to do it- to purchase licenced content, be it characters or cosmetics, without spending any money.

Exactly what I came here to say. It could never happen specifically because the rift pays back its cost in cells, and they can't give cells for free as long as cells can be used to purchase licensed content. It could also never happen with licensed rifts, which the upcoming one will be.

And overall... DBD seems to get much of its revenue from the cosmetic side, given how reasonably priced its DLC is and the way they allow most of it to be purchased for free, so I'm not going to begrudge a mandated price tag on the battlepass. (Even if it pays back cells, I'm pretty sure the goal is to get you to pay $10 for the pass and then spend those cells on other outfits afterwards, causing you to pay $10 for the next pass and so on.)
