How do you feel about the game becoming less horror-oriented
I'm not a fan. Some of the recent decisions at BHVR are a little concerning for the future of the game, the recent collaborations with AoT, PubG and For Honor, now mixed with the inclusion of FOMO cosmetics scream (I'm gonna say it) Corporate Sell-Out.
I'm fine with non-horror stuff getting cosmetics or something but I can't in good conscience pay for it and especially not if it's a full chapter, Predator is the absolute furthest I'd go.
I get you gotta get your coin but there's several big games to collaborate with that would be more on-theme

To be fair, the For Honor collaboration was more on Ubisoft's side as they got a limited time game mode. We just got a charm. I'm imagining a similar situation with pubg.

How do I feel? Eh. That ship had already partway sailed by the time I joined. The first killer release I was around for was Trickster, and... yeah. I think the theme slackening was inevitable; they would run out of accessible horror licenses at some point and have to reach further afield, and on the cosmetic end, silly goofy stuff sells well. We've had Mr. Puddles and present Dwight for years. AoT is at least about a show where giant monsters eat people; that's better than Bunny Feng being chased by a man in a chicken suit.

To me, dbd lost its horror element when myers came out. I never found him particularly horror-y. Pychological thriller, Suspenseful, but not horror. I know some movies have gone in some suddenly magic routes but to me, he was just a guy in a mask killing people.

So long as the core gameplay loop remains the same, I could care less if its "horror" or not

This post absolutely mystifies me. A guy in a creepy mask who goes around murdering people on Halloween...isn't horror. What?

You're seriously gonna call out AoT? It's just as valid as the God awful 80s cheese slashers.

DbD becoming less horror themed? I'm not too happy about it tbh. The recent collabs are a bit weird for me... doesn't feel quite horror to me and it's not nice. Doesn't fit into the theme i'm looking for.
I'll still play the game because it's fking good. But let's hope they change direction soon and don't water down the horror too much.
i'm also still waiting on a killer that can absolutely terrify the crap out of me. There are a good few killers in the game that can still do that. But less of a focus on collabs and more focus on scaring me would be good xD

I feel like it's making a big deal out of nothing.
dbd doing crossover events in other games outside the genre isn't gonna affect it or make it less horror theme'd, that's just nonsense talk.
Cosmetics and Charms that are none horror related is whatever at this point since we have plenty of none horror related customizations for both Survivors and Killers in the game already.
Also it's not like dbd is gonna stop doing horror related content or crossovers in the future anyway.

Eh. I do wish they would keep their collabs to mostly horror-themed stuff. PUBG and For Honor just feel kinda...weird? Like sure, popularish games, but weird. At least ######### like the Trickster tried to at least had a horror-themed backstory. Even if he just looks funny instead of scary.

Never played this game for horror in the first place.

I don't really feel the game has become less horror. I feel some people have an extremely narrow idea of what horror is, and would probably be confused watching something like shudders top 100 horror movie moments, when something like Jaws came onto the list.
I'll never understand how Trickster isn't horror, for instance. He is a maniacal psychopath who enjoys butchering people and using their screams for his music. I don't see how it "isn't horror" because he's a pretty boy. Is American Psycho no longer horror, because Bateman was a generic yuppie indistinguishable from every other yuppie in the 80's? No. Horror doesn't exclusively mean disfigured man in mask with bladed weapon, or unthinkable creatures. Horror and comedy have also always been bed fellows, so it seems odd to point to any sort of comical cosmetic as evidence of "not horror." I mean, go watch Evil Dead 2, or Army of Darkness. The entire Leprechaun franchise is also half comedy and involves a leprechaun who kills people with pogo sticks and the like while telling lymrics. So, I don't feel this game has become "less horror" at all. I think it has widened its net to accept all aspects of the horror genre, instead of a very narrow main stream view of it. And I appreciate that.
As for AOT, For honor and PUBG? I don't know anything about AOT, so I cannot comment on the series itself. But, I don't feel cosplay costumes specifically preclude one from horror. You can have a horror movie happen at a con, if you wanted. For Honor has a charm, which no one uses. The DLC is rumored to be INSPIRED BY for honor, which to me, means we're going to get a totally OC Knight who simply has some flavor mention to the for honor world in their backstory. I cannot say how horror that character is until we see it. PUBG is rumored we're basically just again getting a charm, isn't it? For both For Honor and PUBG's case, it feels like those cross overs are more for those games, and less for us. I don't think a charm or singular costume somehow removes horror.
