will pay to win skins ever be addressed?
Whether its survivors with quieter breathing/cries of pain, darker colors, or quieter footsteps. It's all an unfair advantage that you can purchase. Will BHVR address this or should content creators have to start telling new players to buy specific survivors to survive easier?

It barely makes a difference lmao.
Ace is the only one who's actually significantly quiter than average but you're mostly gonna see Feng's and Meg's who are loud af.

There are far greater issues with balance than this but actually BHVR is planning to bring all grunts of pain to the same volume. Quieter footsteps is not a survivor issue. It only depends on the ground they are walking on, which makes sense to me. Darker cosmetics are not that big of a deal. The only situations where those come in clutch is on Garden of Joy, Midwich and Saloon and that is more of a problem with these maps as they are too dark in some places to see anything. On other maps, yeah it can be a bit harder to make out a survivor in the distance but you still see movements very well. You can also see crows fly in the distance and know someone is around there.

I keep seeing people say footsteps don't matter it's only the material they walk on. But they never show any proof and you can disprove that theory by just playing a barefoot survivor on the game and have them run next to a survivor with shoes on they sound totally different

Okay, but why would a person who wants to win use a cosmetic or survivor that actively hurts them. Conversly why does that justify telling a new killer player "you lost because they have Ada and you never heard them"

Well, Feng is among the most played survivors and Neon outfits are overall very popular. Ace on the other hand is not. It seems players don't really care if they get an advantage due to their skins. Ada is still bugged. You can expect to see that fixed soon.

Generally agree, and though it's not a huge deal, I do think dark outfits help a bit more than that. Or at least, a non-neon, complete with colorful backpack and other loud accessories outfit will help in many applications.
Some outfits (mainly Feng, Meg, and Nea) are so virtually incandescent that you can see them practically from orbit.
Conversely, dark cosmetics will help not just on those maps, but on any map where there are bushes or dark corners. In many cases you can tuck yourself in a corner in the killer's field of view and they run right by you.
All that said, I don't think "pay to win skins" in DBD are a thing. Most of the best stealth cosmetics are basic, low shard cost outfits, and the expensive skins are the ones that are more likely to get you spotted/found.

Footsteps absolutely matter. If you are following a character really close to flashlight save, or protection hit I've had them turn on me and hit me because they heard me. XD

I mean, claudette with her free prestige clothes is already the ultimate master of the Way of the Bush, so I wouldn't exactly call this pay to win...
8 -
I don't think like 90% of the survivor playerbase cares about how the skins act in the trial.
I'm pretty sure they just look at it and say "oh, that's neat"
1 -
They do need to tone down Bill's smoker's cough. When he's injured, legit sounds like he's about to hack up a lung. As killer i catch a lot of bills because of this.

Ace is the most quiet survivor, and he costs shards.
If you wanna blend in as well, buy ace's dark outfits, or use claudette.

*Laughs in console, where the Gardena of joy is bright a.f as default
...*Realises that he's playing on console T_T
(That aside, great comment you made)

No one shall take my Claudette Master of the Ninja Art of the Bush Ninja! She hunts the Killer from the bushes of Glendale!.
I actually scared a Spirit on that map by popping out of a bush.

There going to wear bright colors to express their dominance. But seriously the more flashy the more confident they are. I had a match with 3 blendetts that would leave and hide everytime they heard my TR. 4k at 4 gens as clown. Hiding everytime you hea r the TR is so inefficient that if more then one is doing it its a gg 3-4k.

Well this is a new one.

theres always gotta be something to complain about
no matter how big or small

what skins are pay to win exactly? Cuz let me tell you most paid skins are flashy and shiny,, the only advantage you can actually make use of the Survivors different grunts of pain range,, ace has in built iron will while let's say david and jeff are moaning like tennis players 😂and that's been acknowledged and scheduled to be fixed but you know it's behavior and it might take a few years 😂

Ace, ada, and sheva have built in iron will, adam has blend outfits, several characters have quieter than average footsteps, seems weird to me that you don't understand a mechanical advantage locked behind a premium currency is the definition of pay to win

I literally just said that they are aware of some survivors being louder/quiter and announced its gonna be fixed ,, if it was pay to win they would just let it be,, also for the record ace isn't bought with auric cells exclusively so even if they were not aware or unwilling to balance it out so the whole pay to win thing doesn't stand to begin with,, Sheeva is loud af and Ada is just not loud, you can still hear her pretty well if you are paying attention

I've played with jane from the most recent tome skin and I can confirm some skins do in fact change the survivor footstep sounds, thought I'm not sure which or how many of them do.

I had never noticed that before. Thanks.

Ace and Adam can both be purchased with iridescent shards, earned from playing the game. it may take longer than paying real currency, but you can definitely still get these characters without spending money.

That only applies to old gen console, on next gen it is dark.
0 -
Really? I had him when i got the game.

I think it depends on platform, on Steam you get David, Nea, and Bill iirc
0 -
Ah I'm on xbox. Had the original 4, david from tutorial, Nea, Feng, Bill and Ace.

I think it was a console bundle or something,
I know switch players get spirit, hag, and some other killers for free.
0 -
Pretty solid. Think i had hag and doctor

honestly it's deserved, ps4 and xbox 1 players, as well as switch players have it rough. I heard it still lags a ton.
0 -
It might on the older generation consoles like the ps4 and xbox 1. Common issue across a lot of games nowadays that can be played on both platforms. Also olay a lot of jurassic world evolution 2 and that is on xbox one but is apprently almost unplayable because of lags and constant crashes.

Damn.
Well good to know.
[Not gonna roast ps5, but was gonna >:) ]

The vaaaaaaast majority of players aren't 100% committed to winning. Most people playing are playing to have fun and a lot of people want to look cool doing it. Crouching around hoping the killer can't find you isn't a fun way to play for most people. Behaviour has also tried to make people realize over and over and over that the game is supposed to be balanced around fun and winning shouldn't really matter. They don't want a perfectly balanced game. They want a fun game. There is no way to track how often you win, there's no way to see your mmr, and there's not even a well-defined win condition.
The advantage you're talking about is so minimal, there might be 5 people who actually care about it as much as you. Get Ace for shards, sneak around, have fun. No one else cares. Even competitive teams who actually have an incentive to win aren't strictly sticking to the quietest, blendiest survivors and outfits.

You can straight up earn for FREE every characters bloody cosmetics, which are pretty much always the most "stealthy" cosmetics
