Differences between Killers and Survivors.

I’m a killer main. Being playing since the game Launched on the Xbox One. I was around with the lighting of the moon and the insta heal self care mechanics. I saw a lot of Metas come and go. As have many of you seen as well, but I recently talked with a coworker of mine who just started two years ago as a Survivor main. We didn’t clash over the subject but we did stand our ground on some things that we believe in.

That actually helped to open my eyes to a big thing people forget about DBD. It’s a PVP game with two separate parties that by definition are at each other’s throats in match. I then spent a good seven hours talking to other Survivor mains about things people hate or love in DBD. I’d like to hear more but here are some things I saw most people agree on.

1: Trapper getting either a rework or buff. Most of the time it’s from older Survivors that I heard say this and I also agreed. Trapper needs love.

2: Maps need to not be so one sided or awkward. Now depending on the player the map did change but one I heard the most was Ormond and Grave of Glenvale. The first was due to pallet and loop placement, while the later it was due to some killers being able to control that map with way more ease than is necessary.

3: Make the game feel like Horror again was a big thing. I’m not sure how we can do that but maybe changing the lighting on some maps could help, I’m unsure though.

4: Big changes to balance the field of play. A few older players I talked with say that the game is highly unbalanced based off of Perk combos and Killer Power Perks. A big one I heard (and then used to test it out) was having Doctor run Merciless Storm. I now understand how that could feel more annoying than any Dead Hard usage or Flash Mine, but most killers I talked to said it was a mix of Survivors Perks and map regularity that ruins the experience, this I did notice because any decent survivor can run to a loop with a guaranteed pallet or double window. It would feel nice if they could mix up the pallets at loops a little just so survivor’s have to look for them.

5: Hexes. Since most hexes are destroyed with ease a lot of killers want them to work more like Boons. Replaceable or Self Placeable. Of course some disagree this is just opinions I’ve heard (I dont use Hexes)

6: Camping, We All hate campers, even I the killer main hate seeing other killers camp. This is like the horror one however and no one gave a good answer to how to stop it.

7 and Final one: Equal Blood Point perks. My coworker pointed it out to me that Survivors still have perks that give them 100% blood points in some categories while most of the Killers lost theirs.

Wrap-Up: I’m mainly making this to try and get more information about what both sides want it would like to be changed. We all are players and deserve to have fun in our matches. With the ups and downs included. All the Flashlights and Slugging. Hopefully one day our two sides won’t hate each other.

for number 3. i would like a nightime version for booth Eyrie and The corn maps. like how they used to be.

so 1 night and 1 dark version. of course they could do some other small changes but mostly changing the skybox would help so much

for number 3: as soon as the endgame starts the map darkens like in dredge nightfall (maybe a little bit less) for both the survivor and the killer, also all aura reading is gone for both and all scratch marks or terror radius are gone but all get the ability to hear steps and breathing better.

it never felt the same. and i know some people really like the light ones so i would handle some daylight it we got some night

For Number 5 it would be neat if Hex totems fire was not visible from a certain distance. of course removing hilltop totems as well.

As for camping, my thoughts are as follows:

Just talking about the concept of camping for instance. Many survivors are SCREAMING for punishing the killer who camps. Devs just nerfed two major perks that I can see that encouraged EFing off as soon as you hook. With BBQ and chili, it showed you where people were, FAR AWAY.So, reason to leave and GET EM...same for pain resonance. You had an idea of what gen needed pressure RIGHT then and the regression gave you JUST enough time maybe to get there. Buuut, they got rid of the part that encourages people to leave the hook. Sooo, question for you survivors...honest one. Would you prefer it this way where they get LESS info and MORE reason to camp...or they get MORE info and LESS reason to camp?

    On a related note:

The problem with camping. What if...when a killer hooks someone, all generators not being worked will regress very slowly starting at 35m after hook, and the rate of regression goes up faster the further the killer is from the hook. (Nothing insane) but this encourages and rewards killers for not camping and applies extra pressure for survivors to get someone off the hook ASAP...but it would mean a lot LESS camping and both sides get a trade off for it...then you can just have ruin do something like double that speed that it goes up by or whatever. I don't see any abuse problems with this right off the bat but I could be wrong. What do you guys things about something like this?

I'm already 40+ meters away 5 seconds after an unhook, so works for me.

The Survivor-100% BP is just giving 100% of the inmatch-BP, means you just get double points for doing gens, but the bp are still capped at 10k. So basicly, you get to the 10k limit faster, but cant exceed it,while bbq and wglf used to give you 100% for the match-bp, outside the category-limit.

Also, a lot of killers have addons that give bonus-bp in certain categories, which survivors dont have.

wrong, before the "prestige" rework both killers and survivors have a specific perk for gaining more bp (we're gonna live forever and barbecue and chili), now both sides have this nice feature removed from those perks. Both parties have perks that can only improve the efficiency to gain the maximun points in certain categories (for example distressing and beast of prey will improve the points made in the brutality and deviousness category, same for prove thyself and no one left behind). Regarding the addons that will improve the bp gained usually they aren't worth it because the nerfs that involve your power are too much heavy (you'll do more points addonless than using those addons). you know, it's funny that survivors don't have a similar concept regarding certain items/addons (ESPECIALLY for the red ones)...

Yes, a lot of Killers have meme yellow/brown bloodpoint addons that alters their kit in a weird or negative way more often than not

Aka you'd have to gimp your potential to get points in certain categories when you used to be able to just run a healthy perk like BBQ

These are just some of our opinions so takes it as you will.

Point 3: it feels less horror due to the amount of safety nets alot of survivors have. The killer is less threatening and there's a lack of surprise from most. ( admittedly this has been reduced). Also alot of killers have become predictable in how they play and what they have (most run 3 slowdowns, plaything means pentimento, demodogs will almost always try to shred the obsession, etc).

Point 5: its more for the "hex goes in 14 second in the match". Losing a perk straight out the gate doesn't feel good especially since we can't replace it as killer unlike survivor, compounded with totem RNG.

6: there's no way to stop camping without one side abusing it. Insentives to leave hook only works for those who would only camp for a good reason while punishing camping hurts those same ones. Any super through plan would also be hard to implement/code/make and would probably crash the game (admittedly this is more pessimistic from BHVR track record)
