Hatch size
Evening all,
I disconnected from a game for the first time today. I feel like a bad human.
I played a match this morning as survivor where the killer did really well. I was the only survivor left with three gens still to be done. I searched for the hatch, found it, but the killer was stood on it. And they were perfectly placed where I couldn’t interact with it.
That’s fine. It’s just life I guess lol. But when I moved toward a gen they edged closer. If I moved to the hatch they stood on it again. And yes maybe I could have snuck around and done the gens, but the killer had more interest in trolling me than killing me and so after standing by an exit gate for a couple of minutes to see if they closed the hatch, I just DCed. If they want the win that much, fair enough.
My comment / question / observation is that I feel like the hatch should be wide enough that a killer can’t body block it. If they find it and close it, no issue at all. But to block it is poor form. Am I talking nonsense or is this a common-ish thing? First time I’ve ever experienced it before so I assume it’s rare.

I am kind of split on this topic, because on one hand I think it can be a skillfull thing to use demogorgons shred or nurses blink to get precisdely on top of the hatch, but you need those few seconds to recover from the action before you can actually close the hatch, so I don't like the idea of taking that away. But then again your scenario is also annoying... I guess something else than changing the size so you can't bodyblock it would be nice...

I have never once experienced that. Didn’t think they could body block the hatch.

It happens occasionally, but it's pretty rare. In my 2,000 hours of gameplay the killer has only stood on the hatch a few times.
It's horrible game design. The killer could finish off your team at 5 gens and force you to complete the remaining 5 just to be an ass. The devs looked at this and saw nothing wrong with it.

Hatch size is fine, this person's attitude however is not. You can report them for that btw since they were technically holding you hostage.

Haven't had this happen, but it shouldn't be possible. They should change it.

Reports don't actually do anything, usually, unless the person takes the time to record a video, upload it, report it through the website, etc. Not everyone has the time for that over one match.

I don't see a point of making it wider. If the killer on it already, it means you lost. Just go find some gens.

He could have done the gens. Didn't seem like the killer was too interested in stopping him from doing the objective. Thus he wasn't a hostage.

Nah its ok as it is, you should just go and fix gens to force the Killer to come after you or to close it, its a bit tedious but I believe the chance of a teleporting Killer blocking it for skillful plays its worth the time this happens, altough both are fringe cases. It could be made so if the Killer stands on Hatch it autocloses so EGC starts inmediately if they block it.
Also I tremble thinking about all the bugs that could appear if they change Hatch size...

Well, that killer came closer when op tried to do gens. I mean, sure op could have tried to force the kill but this would probably still fit the "Holding the game hostage" bill. At least a report for toxic behaviour would be warranted.

You should be able to mash and warp through the killer to get the hatch. It's happened to me a couple of times.

The hatch grab has been removed and I would repair the generator under the circumstances.
If the killer is intentionally not moving from the top of the hatch and still not closing the hatch, then I have no other option but to repair the generator.

Do the generator. Either you pop it and leave, or you get downed and die.

In your situation it's rough, since the killer could see you and immediately chase if needed.
Otherwise, as others have said, since doing gens is possible it's not holding the game hostage. It's also why I run Sole Survivor on most of my survivors. The aura blocking and the +50% exit gate/hatch opening boost are the daily, but the +75 gen repair speed when the killer camps the hatch is just gravy.
